  1. I hope you aren't running near anyone else with 200 yds of copper off the back...
  2. If anyone has a viable 9.9 or 15 outboard, they probably can get $800 for that alone on this board. Believe it or not, you'd pay less for a boat without a viable 'kicker' sized outboard on it.
  3. I bought some Lowrance gear when I purchased my new boat last year. My GPS didn't work worth a darn...long story short, multiple ignored emails and unreturned calls later my Lowrance gear found its way back to Cabelas and was replaced with Humminbird gear. Happy now.
  4. Your son is referring to galvanic corrosion/reaction, and it can be an issue but probably won't. It depends heavily on the type and preparation of the aluminum and the type of stainless steel being used. (304 being better than 400 in this situation). Just use the goo, and move on with your day
  5. Wilson uses same channels as Olcott. Nobody talks to me though....
  6. Yeah, I saw that. He is asking 90% of new on them though...too steep for me for used goods. I'll probably just order up two new next week. Either that or see if I can milk one more year out of my current gear.
  7. Looking for a pair, 47H can be considered as well. Also looking for: - a kicker between 7-15 HP which is Trollmaster compatible - trolling probe - cannon MAG 10HS downriggers - Humminbird 755c Don't know that I can come up with that stuff anywhere but new, but there it is.
  8. Buffalo version for those out this way. Next Week. http://the-fairgrounds.com/calendar.php?eventid=5429
  9. I have 2 of these on my boat but have been thinking about upgrading. I really don't want to switch mounts if I don't have to. Am I correct that the only Cannons using the same mount are the Magnum and the Digi? Are all the manual downriggers a different mount now?
  10. The poll question then states "Should salmon trollers on the open waters of Big-O be allowed 3 rods each?" I believe my reading comprehension is just fine.
  11. To your point in #2, a quick question then. If as you state, "There is quite a bit of economic value to this proposal. (Return trips by less frustrated fishermen.)" then creates an inverse effect on "The number of fishing licenses and boats fishing is considerably less than it was years ago, hence there is much less pressure on the open water fishery today than years ago." will those same fishermen then support a return to 2 rods? I bet they won't. As to #1, the poll did not ask as I remember about anything other than the number of rods, to which I did and still feel no is my answer to. I did read the entire thing, and answered the poll that was asked. I then answered the question posed. Perhaps if you don't actually want an answer then you should avoid asking the question.
  12. Absolutely. +1 I have no issue with fees/taxes that go toward the purpose...but just like my registration on my ATVs which goes into the bottomless 'general fund' (before I realized you can register in PA as a non-resident), I think this is another money grab.
  13. I said no. Here are my reasons: 1- They call it fishing, not catching. Why not 4, or 5...why not drag a net? 2- Fishing already isn't what it was 20 years ago. Stocking is down, the ecosystem disrupted and the economy will only further cut into environmental measures. I'm not in favor of any measure that possibly puts MORE pressure on this fishery. 3- Too many idiots on the water who can't control their lines already. I don't want to troll through a thicker batch of copper 400+ yards back. Just MHO, which I believe I'm allowed to have.
  14. So I am using two old (but good condition) 48" Unitroll 6's and have an issue with one of them. The internal shaft (not with the crank, but rather the one with the tensioner on it) is stripped. It popped off while bringing up a weight (run away!!!), so I had to manually turn the spool to bring the weight up. Can this shaft be had anywhere? If I am looking at new riggers, what cannon unit sits on the same mount as these so I don't have to drill more holes and mount new plates.
  15. 7 -> 2, burned a bunch of gas. Finally think I've milked a Unitroll 6 as far as it will go and have to get a couple new riggers. Notice no mention of fish? There were about 40 boats in the fleet today and I never saw much of anyone hook up. Nothing.... Great bait between 85 and 110 FOW with scattered suspended marks between 25 and 80. Threw spoons, flys, plugs at them. Threw the full array of greens and violets then orange and silvers then random crap from the bottom of the box. Nothing. Riggers, Dipseys. Nothing. Actually started running cheaters left and right both off the ball and rubber band stacked off the down lines to get 10 lures in the water between 30 and 70. Nothing. Tried slow (1.5), tried fast (3.4) still nothing. Took a spin out to 275 FOW and found more bait on way out down low between 150 and 170 fow, tight to bottom but was by that point (noon) having a rigger issue and did not bring my big balls There were some marks clinging to bottom out about 170 fow but I'm going to guess they were mud trout. If anyone ad any luck out there today I'd like to hear about it (and where you were that I missed the action). Most guys pulled and bailed by 10:30. As usual, no radio chatter. Everyone is LOC obsessed and keeping it to the cell phones.
  16. He was just moving in nice and close for a game of flare toss. Notice the big 'net' he has put up on that tall pole.
  17. I run a Humminbird 575 that fits your need.
  18. I have had too many fish grab the low line then tangle the top line on their way past and almost never run the top line further back unless I am spread at least 25' in depth, which I seldom am. I usually run the top line at 2/3 to 3/4 the length of the line below it and am spread 8' to 12' in depth when stacking two. I have been known to shorten them up and run them 5' fow apart if tripling.
  19. I went with the Humminbird 575 for dual use and have been happy with the exception of the noise I pick up on the 'left side' scan with the trolling plate down and the spray the transducer kicks up which I hope to solve this week with a piece of angle aluminum. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp;jsessionid=XHKVU0B345WYFLAQBBKSCOVMCAEFMIWE?id=0043162018989a&type=product&cmCat=froogle&cm_ven=data_feed&cm_cat=froogle&cm_pla=0250101&cm_ite=0043162018989a&_requestid=18387
  20. Got out early...dropped them at 200fow...went out to 275fow...worked between 160 and 250 until we gave up at 11:30 and went looking for smallies. Caught nothing but about 30lbs of fleas. Marked nothing. Was in a pack of about 15 boats running the same area and never saw anyone go for a rod. Beats house work.
  21. After further review, one of these guys was a coho and not a bow. http://s343.photobucket.com/albums/o460/yodamage/
