My "add block+" prevented this site from opening and then it asked me to disable "add block" in order to help the economic recovery. I will not use a site like that.

Try the kettle pond in Mendon Ponds.The pike are not very large ,but there are very many.

It might have to do with the budget cuts in NY state. The dead deer pick up contractors normally get paid per deer,but the state has not paid them for quite a while now.

I talked with the kwik fill people today and they told me that they will continue to supply ethanol free gasoline until December 31 when it will be illegal to sell ethanol free gas in NY State

I always dump a bit of "seafoam" in my fuel.If it doesn't help,it certainly doesn't hurt.I have kept plastic fuel containers in my boat over the winter and the engine will start on that fuel next spring without any problems. There is however another problem that people do not pay attention to.It is called the half full can of fuel. If you have a half full can then the other half is air and water molecules are suspended in the air.The warmer the daytime temperatures,the more water molecules that air will hold.At night the temperature goes down and the water condenses and ends up in your fuel where some of it will just go down to the bottom of the tank and some will connect to the ethanol.If this process repeats itself for ,say,three weeks,you will have a sizable amount of water in your fuel and it may well cause trouble. In other words.Never leave a half full container in your boat.Either empty them out or fill them to the top at the end of your fishing day.That will prevent a lot of trouble. Cornelis

I used to pull 2 600 foot leadcore lines in Keuka lake using 9 foot Eagle rods.on on each side of the boat.As long as the wave action was slow and the captain did not make any stupid short turns it worked fine.When catching a laker I would take care to not play but haul the fish up and in,while making sure that the boat would stay on a straight course. Even so I remember spending plenty of time unknotting spectacular foul ups. In Cape Cod Bay on my 35 footer (an old lobster boat I was given and fixed up with my brother in law) the stern is wide enough to have 2 300 foot wire lines out while jigging for stripers over 40 feet of water,but this goes with 5 ounce jigs and 300 is not 600. However,Ontario is not Keuka and Chinook are not lakers. Cornelis

Copper works really nice,specially when running solo.It is very user friendly. One thing however bugs the **** out of me.Why isn't copper wire color coded like lead core???.Right now I put on some colored tape every twenty feet and I am toying with dabs of different colored spray paint every 20 feet. From about 50 FOW,there is lots of steelhead just under the surface, then the screen showed a monster pod between 46 and 60 feet down over 79 feet so I set up with one rigger with the spinny and a copper line about 300 foot out with a NBK. As the probe went down it turned out to be 39 degrees at 56 feet and at 45 feet it showed 44.5. The very large fish were all at the lower end of the school in the coldest water,but no matter what I offered them ,it took till around 8 in the evening for the bite to turn on.In 45 minutes I caught 2 nice kings on the copper and 3 steelhead on the rigger.One of the steelhead had a lamprey about a foot long.Now it is 2 times six inches. Apart from the wave action which made it hard to play solo it was very nice. Rolmops. ====================

I used my 600 feet 36 pound test stranded copper line for the first time and when I reeled it back in there was a small clump of wire because of a broken strand.I want to cut out this bad section and retie the wire.Which is the right way to reconnect the wire?? Just last week I lost one of my stingray pancakes due to my own stupidity,so I went on a limb and ordered 2 13 pound torpedoes from A-Tom-Mik. This Sunday I tried them out for the first time and they are a very big improvement over the pancakes,not so much because they are heavier,but because they are actually visible on my fish finder.The Stingray pancakes are so thin that the sonar does not pick up any echo.From now on I will know exactly what depth my gear is at. I guess I should say "Thank You" yet again to Glen who kindly showed me the torpedoes on Spoonfed and then showed them to me again on his fish finder.If not for the trip with Glen,I would never have known about seeing the weights on the fish finder screen. I am getting the technical tricks and needed gear together.Sometime soon I will start catching more fish as well.

In Sweden where they first appeared in the Baltic in the 90s a lot of research has been done on those spiny pests.The allergic reaction you have is very often experienced by the local professional fisherman when the fleas start clogging their nets and it is mentioned in most related research that is being done in Sweden

There are a few additional questions that are in order.they have to do with boat and engine. Did you hear the engine run?Did you take it for a test drive in the water?.Do you know the compression in the cylinders? That boat seems very small for a 115 horse engine. I wonder whether it is rated for an engine that seize.There should be a small metal plate on the boat giving the maximum ratings. As far as the trailer is concerned.Those wheels do not belong on that trailer, they are a smaller size and with those rims as rusty as they are you must use inner tubes because tubeless does not work well on older type rims.The bearings inside are probably just as rusty As for the tires,if those are 2008 tires then I am 2008 as well. Those tires cost about $40 a piece times 4 makes $160 dollars without the inner tubes,never mind the installation fee.The trailer is not worth the $160 tires. And then the most important question.Are the boat and trailer registered? insist on seeing the registration.It will show you when it was last registered and used.Do NOT buy a boat without papers,the DMV will make it very hard for you to register a possibly stolen boat. I feel that you are either being taken for a ride,or the owner believes his junk pile to be a jewel! It seems to me that your "behind" is very much faster and far more reliable than many of the big players. My order of torpedoes at your online store arrived very fast and this was last week. May being behind be your biggest problem.

Today I received my torpedo weights from A-Tom-Mik. A very good and fast service indeed!Thank you Tom. I wonder how most people use these 13 pound weights.It seems a very heavy weight to run on 3 foot riggers.I use Penn 620 manual riggers and I am a bit afraid that they are too heavy for the extended length riggers that I use. A "repaired" prop is usually a smaller diameter than it used to be.Although my first thought is with a spun prop,it may just be that the repaired prop is now a 13x19 .This will work fine as long as it does not have to work hard.What you describe is that the engine revving up is exactly at the point where the boat is struggling to get onto plane with the bow high up and the stern down and making a big wave. It may not be a spun prop but just not enough prop and at the hardest point it just takes off but does not move enough water to push the boat along with it.

We went back to last week's waypoints and almost instantly we started getting hits, the Cohos were very happy to oblige us with nice fights.We tried to have get under them with a spin doctor and a fly but there were no takers. So we went deeper and there we found another layer of 49 degree water at 60 feet.Here we found the atlantic who gave us a nice show and also 2 nice kings the steelhead were higher up just under the surface.By 11 the 2 footers had changed into 5 footers with occasional 6 footers mixed in.That is not good for an 18 footer so we packed up and made a slow very wet ride in ====================

This is bad news indeed,but it is being used for political purposes.This politician would like nothing better than the carp reaching Lake Michigan.That would give him a lot of political ammo. Blaming Obama for fish swimming upriver is comparable to blaming Obama for afternoon rain.The carp came up all the way to the lake by swimming up the Missippi and they were there while Bush was president,I mean the elder.Heck they were there under Reagan.In fact King George the Fourth probably sneaked them in. Getting rid of them is not going to happen when politicians can take advantage of this disaster in the making.
