  4. Meet up with Mike Tripp at Holiday Harbor this morning, we had a low layer of fog with some drizzle. It was great seeing the lake up so high. We came out of the harbor and headed north. Now for those of you that do not know Mike , he has been Kokanne powers Angler of the year 3 years running. So today was to be a day of teaching or showing Mike about Big boards, Dipsy Divers on Braid and Steel line rods, different tackle for Kings. Well Mike pulled a FISHSTALKER on me and hooked up a Spotted Bass, 1st fish in the boat. By noon not sure how many fish we had landed but it was some where around 9 or 11 fish. Mike out fished me today with his rolled shad, but did fall in love with the 42 spoon. The surface temp was running at 46 to 47 degrees all day, the big surprise to me the Kings where down deep 90' to 125' first time I have seen them down this deep so early. Mike it was a great time spending the day on the water with you on my birthday. Thanks a lot.

  15. The Shasta lake has come up 11.71' just since this storm started, two days ago. Here are some pictures . Another 18 miles north they already have 4' of fresh new snow and expecting 10' to 15' total in the next 7 days The privy is going to be a little hard to use Sugar Loaf Ramp is gone , dock is under water on the right Normally you would drive around to the left, but the road is almost under water The new culvert that was put in on the road to the ramp Looking north up the Sacramento arm Work on the new bridge at Lakehead, the old bridge will be roved. The paved road is straight ahead is the Antlers boat ramp. About half way down you can see the water shooting a good 6' in the air Sacramento River behind our house Water cascading down the hill to the river
  16. Rod in Oregon it was the hot ticket until winter. Then in 10 degree weather they would ice up so bad that you could not get all the line back on the spool.
  17. Vic When I have a 20 Lb weight on the end along with my probe, I feel a lot safer with cable than I do with thread. But hey that is just me
  18. Glen There a mix, of stocked and wild. The ones in the picture are all what is known as the Pit River Rainbow. They are usually darker with big brown spots also thicker through the gut. Then we have the Rainbow Trout and another strain call the Eagle Lake Trout which come from only Eagle lake California where the water is vary alkaline. Both these species can be found on the net
  19. Man I do not know how you guys can sit on ice with a fishing rod 2' long, going in a 10 " or 12" hole in the ice. My hat is off to you frozen ones
  20. Bob my friends in Oregon that got on that craze a couple years have all pulled it off. In the winter when temp are below 20, they ice up real band and impossible to get all back on the spool at times.
  21. I run Okuma Blue Diamond roller rods myself and love both of them.
  22. I have had my Depth Raider for a coup years also, would not trade it for anything. My 1st unit was a Cannon, it was in and out of the shop more than Ray K gets on the water.
  23. Steve welcome aboard, I live just down the road from you. This is a great place to hang your hat
  24. Ray we did not lose then on the bottom, We where in 125' flow. They where being pulled off the planer boards. With the lake so low, tree tops where just below the surface. Hell I even hook into a pine cone that was still attached to the tree, when it broke lose the treble hooks where baried into it. Hey thanks for the heads up on where to find the bottom
