  1. Andy.................fished LP Saturday everything was deep 225' down 70 & up with cheaters. Didn't find em till late morning the structure had plenty of bait but nothing worth bragging about after we moved out deep we hit some quality silver fish!
  2. I'm in this year. I now have time I'm on welfare (retired). I'll be fishing with the infamous SLIDERBITE ! You all realize bringing Vic along gives us a HUGE advantage.
  3. That's a tough one. There are plenty of productive weed beds but you'll need at least a small boat. The railroad tressel at the north end has access for shore fishing plus in the Village of Cayugs there is a pier. I suggest renting a small boat to have better success.
  4. The south end of Seneca continues to be productive. We boated 30 plus fish however most of them are keepers on Seneca but throw backs on Cayuga. We did keep a few in the 3 to 4 pound class and 2 nice browns. Thirty foot and higher seemed to be the most productive. My favorite setup is a small dipsey on braid with 125' of line, this puts a spoon down about 28'. As with landlocks when they are hot they are hot. I don't believe any particuliar spoon or plug did the trick they seemed to hit anything until 9:30 then they shut down and we had a nice boat ride. Spectaculiar day to be on the lake!
  5. Jeff, it might be too light or your ripping the lips off the fish which a snubber would help.
  6. We constantly use crank baits in the winter. The location of the thermo cline has much to do with the top water bite, in other words the higher the thermo cline is it compresses the trout into a smaller water colume! The past 2 years the top water bite has been slow on Cayuga and the cline has been deep. Why?? I wish someone could answer that. Must be some experts out there on this subject!
  7. Thanks for not mentioning about praying and paying homage to the lake!
  8. Hey Sliderbite.................can't believe you're staying out of this
  9. Keep in mind the salt situation on your equipment. A painted trailer that isn't rinsed off after every trip is a disaster. I have a galvanized trailer and the boat & trailer are rinsed off after every trip. Most of all pay attention to the weather and the wind. If you have issues on the lake you'll probably be all alone and wear life jackets at least your family will have a body.
  10. Two days above 32 degrees with a good chop to break up the ice at the inlet. I'm penciling in Friday, I have a few scouts in the area. If I hear anything positive I'll put a post up!
  11. I hope to..............depends on mother nature!
  12. If this offer includes curb service & breakfast count me in!!! Remember guests catch all the fish & the host nets em!
  13. BTW..... The motor issue should be straightened out so I'm anxious to check it out!
  14. Jeff..shooting for the end of the cweek, need at least 2 days in the upper 20s to low 30s. X your fingers
  15. I've only been out 3 times and the bite has been funky. Top water action for us has been minimal. In fact I'll be pulling the planer lines off and running extra downriggers. The best action has been in the 60' range. The small fish has been in the entire water column. T-Falls area has been sour for us! Hopefully the weather will continue to cooperate and we can continue our search mission!
  16. I agree with gone fishin. Factory controls!!! Spend the money and on the controls with electric tilt you'll be glad you did. I have a 9.9 kicker with the troll master, it's a good setup! I have the more expensive Troll Master and I wouldn't spend the extrta money on it the cheaper unit will do the job. My rig is 20' so the unit doesn't have to be so precise!
  17. Andy, As you know I have both the belt type and the vest. I bought the belts at Cabelas and the vests at Bass Pro. The auto was a nice sales pitch but the belt type is less cumbersome. The down side of the vests are for some reason they activate on their own after a period of time. That and $25.00 to replace the cartridge makes me lean towards the belts. Third man in the boat has toi wear the vest!
  18. Looking for info on this unit. How it rates compared to the Depth Raider etc. I like the idea of not using the cable to transmit, however I'm concerned if the transducer has to be mounted similar to the mount for the sonar. I do care about how it's mounted. I don't have a hard top and I trailer it under canvas so I need to reduce set up time as much as possible. Any thoughts on it's performance compared to the depth Raider would be appreciated. Ken
  19. I know your cell wasn't in the truck. A fitting end for a lousy day. You know the fishing is slow when your copper rigs don't fire, however they do need to be in the water not on your lap
  20. My intent was not to get into a debate nor dicuss politics, just voice my opinion. Stinger & I were on Cayuga when two fisherman went overboard, lucky for them there was another boat close, this was in the winter! That convinced me what was the right thing to do.......no one gets on my rig in the winter without wearing an inflatable! Next subject!
  21. You guys are missing the point. Check out Cabelas or Bass Pro for under $70.00 you can purchase the belt type inflatables. You don't even known you have them on. Not wearing something in the winter is like playing the odds by not wearing a seat belt, it won't happen to me. These can save your life! I heard the horror story about that guy on Lake Ontario that fell off his rig in the summer, his boat was found beached the next day. At least with an inflatable your wives will have a corspe to view. What's $70.00 more since we already have thousands wrapped up in our sport.
  22. I'll be hitting right after X-mas!! Pray for a warm winter!!
  23. Thanks all...will let you know how I make out
