Was thinking of Picking a couple of these up. Mostly for running boards and leadcore. Anybody run these? Hows the action of them? Are the 7'6" ML similar to the Heartlands 7'6" ML?

With running a probe for a Sub Troll on a manual downrigger, what are your thoughts on weight to minimize blowback? I know it's going to be a workout but will 12 pounds be sufficient?

How deep? The typical 40-60? I have a feeling there's not going to be much color on the shoreline this weekend so might have to go to plan b. I thought about slow trolling 3 way rigs with kwikfish on light tackle.

So today everything seems to be ok. Temp and speed consistent. Still curious about speed though. Running ball down 3-4 feet and sub troll is showing 1 mph faster than gps speed regardless of trolling direction. Does it need calibrating?

Whenever I can get on the water. I prefer dreary days but have had some killer days with sunny bluebird skies.

Lol, maybe not how big my guns are but how many fish can I catch. Thinking either 10 or 12 pound herbie or 13 pound torpedo.

I have a couple older cannon downriggers. I believe they have an 8 lb weight capacity. Has anyone gone over a couple pounds in order to get a speed/temp probe down? I was thinking of trying a 10 pound herbie weight.

Thanks for all the replies fellas. I'll run through all your suggestions and hopefully figure it out. I know the unit wasn't used in a couple years and was operating fine before that so hopefully it's something simple.

Still had the black dot indicating power. The only other electronics running is a basic lowrance.

Lose both speed and temp. Had power going to the unit the whole time. It would stay on for 5-10 minutes then go off, then come back on, then off every 10 minutes or so. Seemed if I took it out of the water for a while then dropped it back in it would start working again then quit.

4/3 not 4/4 my bad. Lake was calm along shore.

I'll try it next time out. Just wanted to see if there was something noticibly wrong.

Ran a quick solo trip for 3 hours. Went 6-8 with 4 browns, a laker, and a coho. Biggest brown was about 5-6 pounds, the rest were cookie cutters. 38-39 degree water mostly. Found one decent patch with a little color that produced the fish.

Metal to metal contact and new battery. I'll try to upload pic later of connection.

Picked up a used sub troll this offseason. Out doing a little shake down as we speak. Unit is working intermittently then stops. Also when working speed is about 1+ mph over gps speed. I have no experience with these. Any thoughts /ideas appreciated. Cable seems to be wavering back and got that lot as I only have ball down couple feet. Here is a couple pictures, one of the connection to the cable. This was how it was set up when I recieved it. The other of the antenna on the rigger boom. Yes, as you can tell, my dog spends a lot of time in the boat.
