  1. The only fish I eat out of Lake Ontario are small spring cohos. They taste pretty good grilled on a cedar plank.
  2. I wonder how much longer those fish will hang at the bar before they shoot the river? Haven't been out in 2 weeks because of the weather/winds.
  3. Neighbor brewed up 5 gallons of pumpkin beer last weekend. We barter, beer for walleye filets... good deal.
  4. Was hoping to get out this weekend, doesn't look like the wind will cooperate for the second weekend in a row.
  5. Always had good luck with Bonine which is non drowsy.
  6. Small craft advisory all weekend long. Figures after a beautiful Friday.
  7. Love making sandwiches with my leftovers. Blackened is pretty tasty to.
  8. What size hooks do you like on your rigs when running meat?
  9. Nice, not much traffic yesterday at all. May try to get up there this weekend. I'm sure it'll be busy. Tight lines!
  10. Nice, fished there yesterday morning and didn't quite find the piles you did. 2 small kings and one about 19 pounds. East of port.
  11. Do you fellas run one or the other or both with cut bait? New presentation to me. What length leader between as well.
  12. Yesterday I was running a FF off the probe rigger and it resulted in two fish but also some wicked line twist. This was running 30lb blood run sea flee. Had line tied directly to spin doc swivel. Anything to reduce the twist? Ended up taking it off after a while, removing tackle, let out 300 feet of line to let it untwist, and re-rigging.
  13. That's was temp for browns. I had low 50's down 65 that took two fish. No diver bites for me.
  14. Fished solo yesterday morning from 615-1100. Took 2 small kings and one around 18-19 pounds in 70-85 fow. 2 on ff including the big fish and one on a SSW. Tried getting a brown bite going later in the morning as the bite died about 830 but nothing materialized. Been a strange year for browns for me anyways. This time of year is usually pretty consistent for me to boat 1/2 dozen or so but having a hard time finding them. Maybe I'm to deep. Best temp has been around 50-65 feet.
  15. Maybe read the last couple pages of posts? Pretty good info on depth, speed, lures.
  16. Crazy how the two lakes can be so different. Erie is rocking right now with only light south winds in olcott. Guess I should have made the trip north. Thought it was supposed to be a little breezy out of the west.
  17. MCF how deep did you fish? Heard fish moved deeper and closer to Canadian line as of early in the week.
  18. While I would disagree the buffalo end is dead, easier fishing is west. Not sure if you made it out today with the lake rocking pretty good.
  19. 1. Absolutely. Staple for me on Lake Erie. I troll harnesses 95% of the time. 2. You can fish off all the above. I love bottom bouncing with my electric but also fish off lead core, dipseys, jets, and riggers. 3. I use boards when fishing suspended eyes in open water. 4. Colorado, Indiana, willows, and hatchet. Every dog has his day. Mix of different sizes and colors depending on conditions. Colorado are better at slower speeds and willows when you turn it up a notch. Sometimes small blades, sometimes bigger blades with more thump. Colorado typically .9-1.5. Willows for 1.6 to 2.2 or so. Not sure what body of water your on. This is just what works on Erie for me.
