  1. Freez em give him to my Pops on the farm, get the backhoe and bury them into the compost pile. He grows 1000 lbs plus pumpkins. If you dont have a backhoe just freeze them for the garbage guys. When i started filleting them at home i made the mistake of putting them in my compost with no backhoe and the Sheperd dug em up and her and the Corgi rolled in them
  2. It apperars the site is down again, we have been doing well 180 to 220 a tad east of harbor. The most consistent setup we have had is running a 3 color lead core off the planer board with Silver and Blue Moonshines for Steelhead Lotta blue stuff for us this year. Moonshine Crabface is good in the morning and the watermelon in rv has done a nice job to. But you can never go wrong drinking beer at the Black North!
  3. Nice, good deal, ya those spoons have been good for me akso this year!
  4. Thats a awesome post! And i know how you feel! bloodied ankles at work and as i work in my weld booth looking at pics i got hanging up of me and my friends with fish i pray for Friday afternoon when all my crew who is fishing the weekend gets to my house, play with my son and get the Haywire ready. Then throw back a few brews. What its all about, the smiles!. I got it so bad i made my own rigger wieghts at work 2 weeks ago! YEAH BABY there awesome
  5. Ditto we did a 1 for 2, 3 times in a row the end of Spring. Gotta have a few slow days to get really good ones. I might try that inside brown fishing also Saturday. Are Brown is down to 20th on the board. Good luck to you, you will get them going
  6. Well my 27 got blown off the board FAST! . Going back to the Oak Saturday with cuzn Art and his wife Jen, and hopefully Bubba gets to do some derby fishing! Good luck everyone it looks like its going to be a nice weekend!
  7. Buck, we have been real hit or miss ourselves. The best advice i can give is every fish we have filleted has been packed with Smelt. So we have had alot of good luck on Silver and Blues. Flutters down 23 back 8 to 10. And are 3 color leads off the boards are good to. Moonshine spoons are good for us currently. Buck are you running the drag car this year.
  8. Really nice pics, and a nice report. I really struggled Friday on my boat.
  9. Headed out of the Oak for some 4th of July derby fishing with Beers and Mikee. Started out a bit slow, we usually do lol. Then finally rods started firing, are 3 color leadcores out on the Board were firing regularly with BIG Steelhead but for the life of us we could not keep them on. We boxed a few nice eaters but man we lost a BIG derby Steely on my old Blue and Silver flutter spoon, it actually straightend the treble hooks. They were jumping and just going crazy on us, it was AWESOME. Once again it was are Moonshines that did the damage off the boards. Then all of the sudden are rigger with the probe on it gets crushed! I hooked the fish and it peeled 400ft and after about 15 minutes Beers netted a very nice 23lbs King. Rigger down 68ft 30ft off the ball. 44 degree at the Fishhawk. 2.6mph at the ball. Yup that was a Moonshine to and the South troll has been are best for two weeks now. Headed her to the Black North for a refreshment and a bite! Got to meet another LOU member and we had a great meal. Got to meet a Father and his little guy in a paddle boat that were fishing in the Oak by the dock, so i offerd them one of are Steelies for dinner and the little guys face LIT up and he asked his Dad if they could tell Mom that they caught it! That was awesome and made my day. That is a future fishermen if i ever seen one! Went back out for a evening troll and once again the Kings were hungry and Beers knocked out 2 more big boys with a Spindoctor, Fly combo. In that 180 to 220ft was are best water. Great day and good memories with my 2 good buddys out on the WATTA. Thank you to all that have fought for our country so we may be INDEPENDENT. Friday, went right back to are spot and didnt see much or move a rod for AWHILE. So we headed offshore to no avail. Ran in from the rain and checked out the skinny water and got two steelie. Then slipped back out to are 180 to 220 and are three color leadcores started firing again. This day would be all a spoon bite and north troll was are best troll. Finished up 4 for 7. I bought this old spoon that is a Blue and Silver flutter spoon and its been getting hammerd. Was good to see and catch up with Bill. North troll and 2.6mph at the ball was are best and the 23 rigger back 8ft for that flutter spoon was getting hot, Sunday, well I had a tough time getting a crew put together. Between family parties and busy work schedules it didnt look like i was going to be fishing which wouldnt have matterd cause my crew is amazing and has helped so much to keep the boat going. But my buddy Dan had a opening on his boat Wet Willy and invited me to go derby fish with him and his Dad. I was definately game. Dan and his Dad are great guys and i definatly learned a few things from them. We started out 3 for 3 on 2 Browns up high and then a Laker up high on a North troll. Missed a drive by then Dan got a teener King to go on the wire, released him and began a south troll, Stinger spoon gets crushed down 35 back 30. Dan and his Dad told me to take the fish so after watching this BIG King jump like a Killer Whale and a nice 8 minute fight Dan netted the 2nd biggest King iv ever got. 27 some lbs and 39 inches long! What a great day on the water with two really good dudes. Last i checked it was 16th place. We wieghed in at Capt Cove, im almost positive its not going to stay but non the less for are whole crew its the third fish we have enterd in the LOC for the year!. Matts Brown is down to 20th so we got some fishing to do and more awesome memories to go make! Thanks alot again Dan and Dan.
  10. Thanks everyone, having alot of fun. I got a great crew, and a great wife that im making Fish Hawk payments to By the way that Brown had Smelt in his belly not the alewives i was expecting.
  11. June 29th-Took are good friends Ron and Scott out for thier first ever time on Lake Ontario. Good guys that me and Beers goose hunt with. We started out in a little rain and worked are way out to 300ft without moving a rod. Heard of guys getting quite a bit of King action but just couldnt find it myself. Heading back on a south troll FINALLY the outside rigger with the Fish Hawk explodes. Down 83 and 35 back, 47 degrees it was are Silver Streak brand spoon. I hooked a nice one, handed the rod to Ron and sat back and watchd my good buddy enjoy the best fight he has ever experienced. 15 min fight and Ron had his BFE (Biggest Fish Ever) 18lbs King. High fives and atta boys and continued working that spot but notta. So it was seeming like it just wasnt are day even though i know plenty of guys were doing well, i just couldnt buy a bite. So really wanting to get Scott a fish i headed back into 80 to 40 feet of water and we did a Laker another smaller King that couldnt go back all on outside riggers near the bottom around 2.0mph at the ball and 50ft leads. So that picked us up and then the 3 color takes off and Scott brought in his BFE a beutiful 9 lbs Brown. Boxed that one and are Silver Streak Brand spoon rips again and Scott got another BFE, 10 lbs Brown. Decided to pack it in and head her home. Tough day for us but we grinded it out and went 5 for 5. Me and Beers got to hear "Thats the biggest fish iv ever caught" 3 times. We will never get sick of that! June 30th-It was time to get Matty back on the boat! Congrats on the baby boy my friend, future Haywires!. Lake was a bit bumpy, we started out where we left off Saturday. Beers drove her east and Matt and i set up the rig in about 10 minutes. I then made everyone vacate being under the canopy so i was driving and 5 minutes later are 3 color off the board pulling a big Moonshine was screaming almost like a King was on. We marked a ton of bait in there and plenty of hooks. Beers cleard all are rods and we were confident with Matt the fish. Awesome 10 minute fight, i circled the fish 3 times and Beers netted the biggest Brown we have ever boated. Are scale said 15 lbs, so we said heck with it lets go get wieghd but none of us were aware that we had to wait till 9 am to wiegh in so we were allready at the dock so we opted to hang out rather go back out for 45 minutes of fishing as the lake appeard to be building. Captains cove took good care of everything and got us wieghd up. WE MADE THE BOARD, 12th place last i checkd. Hope it sticks. Fish was 14lbs 5ounces, one fish in the Spring and now one in the Summer on the board. We are very happy and thankfull. Going to hit it hard this holiday weekend and try to get another one on the board. Best of luck to everybody.
