Dip your hat in the water, and/or hit yourself with the washdown hose. That's about all we do when getting warm.

Caught the most north of 115 on harnesses, while fighting off the onslaught of silvers. Had something on, that walked right thru our 10 lb. line about 8:00 am. I've caught some big cats, and sheepshead, on 10 lb. line, but this shook it's head a few times on the way to the boat, and that was it. Hand painted #5 Colorado green/black/red dot/glow-back was their favorite.

They've been there for about 40 years now. Think about it. They are good folks. Your NOT in business that long, by making a habit of sticking it to people. I pulled my boat to them for some work this spring, and I live almost 70 miles away. Hell, if they sold hamburgers for a living I'd stop by for some of those as well..... -

Well.....after many weeks of banging our limit, today Oneida did not release all of them to us, with only 5 keepers, with 3 of us on board. One of my sons friends dropped a couple at the back of the boat, and the Church boards were semi-mishandled causing a couple bobbled chances, but that is how it goes sometimes. Must've caught 15 shorts, some XXL silver bass, and kept the largest ones, but once that clock struck 10:00 am, with little/no breeze/81* water temps, we pulled it and went in. Oh btw, NASTY, thundershowers/lightning when arriving at the launch earlier. We'll give it another a go next Sunday, and 2 more after that, and then we'll be on the big lake until after Labor Day.

This includes a matched rod with it? -
Any mail order outfit that has those on the shelf, should be able to UPS or Fed-Ex Satuday delivery to your doorstep...but that'll leave a mark. Last time I was at Reiters, in Sandy Pond, I believe they had 1 or 2 of those.

Bait harnesses, albeit crawlers, leeches, or minnows all work real good from usually just after Memorial Day thru the end of July. After that I have found that sticks off the riggers, or lead line, years ago, but nowadays I flee Oneida after mid-3/4's thru July, to fish for Kings on the big lake. Mucho more fun.

Our Lab rides good in the Starcraft, but she has hopped in the water from the other boat. She's always happy to see the food cooler opened up......lol.

Water had kind of tea-color in the bay 'till about where you'd go, into say Callahan's Marina, with the pea-soup algae bloom mixed in so thick, that the wake spray is greenish. I did not go near the canal, but heard VHF conversation of quite a large log in the mouth.

Best site to find water temperature?
Fish Hunter replied to BALLS DEEP's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Not trying to be a wise guy, but a probe would be the way you'd be able to determine temps. -
Came out of the launch, and ran upon a debris field from the flush of Oneida Creek into South Bay, due to the recent flooding, and I had expected that it would be the case. Motored around the obstacles, and continued to run out to 109. Sat down, and took a look. Yep, marks, so fired the kicker and off we go. Not so easy today. Beacoup' marks from 20-25 ft. to the bottom, and those buggers would not go. The lake was like pea soup, so thinking they needed to hear/see it better, I switched some blades around and still haven't had a rod move, and now it's 6:30. So I begin to move down the bouy line staying in the 38-40 fow. Nothing. Now I've moved all the way to 113, so I decide to move out in deeper water, and changed back to the blades/spinners I had on originally, and about 15 minutes into that, bingo! Now the marks started to co-operate!! Had 1 double, and ended up boating 9 keepers, by 10:15. I was gettin' nervous that I would not have my limit, but 'ol Oneida has been really good to me this year. Maybe because I've fished it since 1978....lol. Scott

I believe that in actual B.A.S.S. tourney rules, those hot-rods screaming by so close disqualifies them. Last summer we we on the shipping channel side of 113. There was a motor yacht under what looking like full power, rolling a 4ft plus wake, bearing down on a group of us, and also a man, with his small children in an open aluminum 14-16"er. I finally stood up and they throttled down and came off plane, and wondered if I was alerting them if they were going to run aground. Our boat can handle that stuff, but my reponse to them in the defense of that family fishing in the open boat was NOT what they wanted to hear. The swell still rocked the livin' chit out of those folks.

That's too rich for me........... -
We sat down in our first favorite spot about 5:45 being one of the first boats there, and we were limited by 6:20 on harnesses/bouncers. 18-20" fattys. 38-43 FOW, .9-1.2 mph gps. Ended up with 12-13 total boated w/o a single silver bass, or perch. In the live well, they were spitting up fresh water shrimp, from what I could tell.
