  1. Kudos to you for stepping up and trying to reach out to him. 'Bout Time Mike
  2. Best temp I could find was 47-48 surface temp and 43-44 down 30 over 70-90 FOW 'Bout Time Mike
  3. I ran 3 flasher fly setups and 2 spoons. I ran one spoon off my probe rigger and the other off a 200 copper down the chute 'Bout Time Mike
  4. Came with high hopes of putting up some big numbers on KIngs after hearing reports all week. Fished from 6-1130 ended with one king 20 lbs. the west winds really killed the temps. Marked very few fish. Talked to a couple guys some had similar results some never moved a rod. Our king came in rigger down 50 over 95 FOW pulling white board green dot / hammer fly 'Bout Time Mike
  5. West winds killed the temp that was there all week. Fish have definitely scattered. Fished from 6-1130 today managed one king a little over 20 lbs. marked very few. Looks like west winds right through Sunday. 'Bout Time Mike
  6. i would run it with the plugs gapped at 35 and re-check the plugs. If the gap is "too open" it will not fire "hot enogh" and will not burn off all the fuel. Now if it is still there after the the new plugs and it is fuel not oil check all your plug wires, cap and rotor etc to make sure there are no issues. if you find out it is oil i would have it looked at
  7. This is an Atlantic. Spots are sparatic and on gill plate
  8. I use black, black, and oh yeah black. If i find a good deal on some used colors ones I just paint them black 'Bout Time Mike
  9. Nice job and great fish. Way to Change things and go searching 'Bout Time Mike
  10. Just my .02, but alot of people think that out of that 500-700 they spend on a charter is all profit. Any GOOD charter captain is there an hour or two before the trip and at least that after the trip is over cleaning fish and and the boat. Most charter boats are not little and will go through at least $150 in fuel per trip (which is on the low end). From that take out percentage of insurance, equipment, dockage cost, liscense fee, First aid and CPR that are required. there is not alot left. There will always be those captains who do bare minimum to collect their check but any captain that is proud of his name and his vessel will show it in his work and will do his best to make your trip the best they can. If you had a great trip and feel that the captain and/or mate did the best they could in the conditions they were given i see nothing wrong with showing them some gratitude. I know many captains and know how hard they work and how much effort they put into every trip. again just my $0.02
  11. Generally speaking fair haven is pretty tough in June. There are some kings to be had but usually the lake isn't setup quite yet. I have found that 4th of July is usually the start of king fishing in fair haven. Just my experience. There are ways exceptions to the rule 'Bout Time Mike
  12. Started fishing at 10am and planned to fish till dark. We worked the inside waters from the lighthouse to the plant. Had one hit directly in front of plant on a die hard spoon down 12 over 55'. it was a small 16" King. made a couple more passes nothing. Pushed out to deeper water. marked alot of bait and fish between 140-200 FOW. couldnt get a rod to fire, I was running one shallow rigger and one deep, 3 dipsy's spread throughout the column, a core line down the chute all pulling a mix of spoons, and one flasher/fly. decided to pick up and head the other direction. we ran 10 miles to Moon beach and set up the inshore program there fishing back towards the lighthouse. took one fish on a 2 color core pulling a orange spin dr / coho fly over 14 FOW that came unbuttoned before we saw it. That was it. I was pulling sticks off the boards and spoons off the riggers. coverd water from 8-25 FOW. TOUGH FISHING but hey thats fishing. still a beautiful day to be on the water.
  13. Good job. What was the water temp and did you go east or west 'Bout Time Mike
  14. i have found this on multiple websites Exercise Caution: the area off-shore from the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Plants east of Oswego remains off limits to all boating and fishing. The restricted area extends approximately 1000 yards out from the shoreline along the entire reach from Lake View east to Sunset Bay. The penalties for violating this area could be substantial. I did notice some pin buoys yesterday and they were underwater or only sticking up 6" or so, but there was no true "area" set by these. just one here or there
  15. What are the exact boundaries ? I was in that area yesterday and there were some boats in close ( way too close) and couldn't believe no one was stopping them 'Bout Time Mike
  16. Yes all fish came on surface. Flatlined off boards and shallow riggers. I tried deeper with no luck. Biggest fish of day was 9.4 lb brown that ripped a spoon out of my hand as I was about to hook it to rigger and we were in 26 FOW 'Bout Time Mike
  17. Ran a quick 4 hour trip this morning out of Oswego. Got a later start then I wanted not setting lines until 7am. Pushed my way towards the plant trying the inside waters. Didn't move a rod for almost an hour them I hit 20 FOW and rods started popping. Stayed in 20-50 FOW and ended going 16 for 20. Browns, Steelheads, coho, and an Atlantic. Couldn't get a king for the sweep. No real color combination was better than the other. Took fish off the boards on fire tiger, clown, blue white, black silver rapalas and 4-8 down on the riggers pulling 42nd, SSW, die hard, and goby spoons. 'Bout Time Mike
  18. Great job. What depth of water were you were working? 'Bout Time Mike
  19. There are kings being caught in the Same water as browns. I did find some water that was pushing 50 degrees. I haven't heard of anyone specifically targeting them but do know there a few around 'Bout Time Mike
  20. Thanks!!! I finally have it outfitted the way I want it ( for a couple weeks anyway) - lol 'Bout Time Mike
  21. Went out today for my solo shakedown trip. Launched @ 1:30pm and fished until 6pm. Ended up going 8 or 9 for 11 or 12. Took fish off just about every combination. Fire tiger, clown, blue orange, black silver, goby color sticks off boards. Goby, die hard, and SSW spoons off rigger down 3-5. Found two pockets of 49 degree water one east and one west of chute where most of the fish came from.mostly cookie cutters in 2-3 lb range. A couple nicer ones around 5-7 lbs. worked 6 -12 FOW - all fish released to fight another day 'Bout Time Mike
