  1. What is everyone using for mainline with these. I have them and love them but have had a handful crack where the set screw is trying to tighten it down. I'm running 10 or 12 lb Berkley. I can't remember which 'Bout Time Mike

  6. what is wromg with it? If it is the motor on a electric model, they are just MOPAR power window motors. you could either get one from a junk yard or take it to someone to have the brushes rebuilt
  7. I had an opportunity to fish San Juan PR and couldnt pass it up. We flew down Monday morning and arrived at the hotel at 1:00pm. checked in just unpacked and relaxed by the pool and enjoyed the warm and sun We met up with the captain Monday night and went over the weeks plan. We fished Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday trolling for Mahi, Sails, Marlins, etc. Fishing was slow. we covered alot of water and maganed a couple bites but tough fishing overall. Boated one White Marlin, and one Barricuda for 24 hours of trolling. We fished Thursday Night for Snook and Tarpon. Ended up with a decent Tarpon Friday morning was our last shot at the Big Marlin we had our eyes set on. we were greeted with 15-18' swells on the ocean. We turned back to port and decided to take out the bay boat in search of Snook, and Tarpon again. I landed a decent snook and another nice Tarpon. On our way back in there were Iguanas all ove the place warming themselves in the sun. Our mate (who spoke 3 words of english) jumped out of the boat onto a pier chased after the iguana eventually catching one bringing it back to the boat, held it up and said "CHICKEN !!!!". i almost died laughing. we returned to the dock, he cleaned the Iguana, the Snook, and cut us a fresh Panu (breadfruit) from the tree. He cooked it all up and it was delicious (iguana was a little tough - though) All in all it was a great trip. Beautiful weather everyday and the ocean and scenery were amazing. the fushing could have been better but it sure beat starring at the bay and waiting for the ice to melt
  8. The ice in the bay is still 10-18" thick in parts. Even with the mild weather coming I'm guessing it will be the 3rd week of April before the ice is gone.
  9. Interested in the setup - please post a pic if you find one Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. deadly on smallies... like Rich said be carefull wehn getting in close they do run deep...
  11. They work good on long lines ( coppers ) deep riggers etc. match them with large 11" paddles with longer leads at least 40" plus. A little easier than using regular cut bait setups. I change the leader out with 50lb Floro after a couple break offs using them straight out of the package. Best colors for me have been white green dots behind frog paddle and green silver glow behind double crush green paddle Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. I recently ordered 6 through amazon as well for 83. Three came directly from cannon and three from overstock.com by far the best price I've found Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. sometimes the factory adjustment needs to be tweaked a little. If you go to their website it tells you how to adjust it. i believe you bottom the set screw in and turn it back out 1 1/2 turns or so. i had to adjust mine a couple times until i found the sweet spot and havent had a problem since. this is from their website Rod does not adjust properly, it is either too loose or too tight. (Either the auxiliary will not follow because the rod slips, or with the auxiliary motor tipped up the rod does not extend.) Move the inner rod in or out of the outer rod. If the inner rod will not move, remove the white plastic cap on the outer rod and back off the Allen screw inside the detente tube. As soon as the inner rod is movable, extend or insert the inner rod until you feel the detente pin drop into one of the grooves in the inner rod. At this point, tighten the Allen screw until it is snug. Now back off the Allen screw one and one-half turns. This will adjust the rod so that approximately 20 pounds of pressure is needed to make it adjust. If you want to check the accuracy of this adjustment, you can extend the rod, place the end of the rod on a bathroom scale, and try to compress the rod. Check the scale reading to see how much pressure was needed to compress the rod. If further adjustments are necessary, turn the Allen screw by one-eighth of a turn increments. It changes very quickly.
  14. Looking to see what others do for their Net Holders. I have a 25' Trophy Hardtop Walkaround. Currently I have two rail mounted rod holders mounted on my walkaroud rails that hold my nets (one on each side), with the longer nets, and heavier nets this seems to add alot of stress on the rails. just wondering what others do.

  18. Here are a couple pics from my old setup which is similar to what you were describing. This setup worked well for me when i had that boat. but like what everyone else has said once i was hooked out went that boat for a new one and a whole new setup.
  19. Welcome!!! Your setup will work for your needs. Make sure the flush rod holders you have are all metal including the pin in the bottom. Some have plastic and they will not hold up for riggers/rod holders. As far as baits/depths/etc. it depends in species and time of year. Generally browns are in shore early in the season (as soon as ice out) and shallow 2-10 feet of water and are usually targeted using long lines with planer boards pulling stick baits and spoons. The salmon will be deeper chasing bait. For salmon spoons, flasher/fly combos, and cut bait all work. As far as location I'm further down the lake to the East (Fair Haven) so I will let the other guys from your area chime in on that. If you do searches on early spring brown / salmon fishing you will get some information. Also you can check old fishing reports and get some information Mike 'Bout Time II
