  1. Fished all 3 days and ended with some great fish and even one on the LOC board. Friday started with a morning trip consisting of my Cousin and Uncle. We started in 250 FOW due to the NW blow from day before. found temps in the basement 160 down. the screen was absolutely loaded between 150-200 down. We hit 350 FOW and started moving rods. Wire Diver out 520, 540, and 560 all took fish as well as 600 Copper - all pulling Spin Dr / fly combos. Largest fish was 24.5 pounds. On Saturday i went out with my Dad looking for one for the LOC board. we started in 300 FOW and found temp and fish exactly where i left them on Friday. we had a slow but steady pick all morning,Took fish on wire divers out 480, 525, and 540, 600 copper, and 180 rigger. Our day eneded when the wire diver out 520 started screaming and didnt stop until 900+, battled fish back to 600 and it went back out over 900. almost an hour later 32.06 King hit the deck and we ran to weigh in.(currently in 4th place). All fish took spinny / fly combos. ended the day with 12, 26, 28, and 32lb Kings. On Sunday i took the morning off to recover from celebrating my LOC fish the night before and went out for and evening trip with Mom and Dad. we started in the 220 range and didnt start seeing fish until the 420 range.fish rod to go was 600 copper after a LONG run and over an hour battle Mom landed her firsh KING @ 26.5lb, and off the copper to boot. needless to say she was excited but tired as hell. after a slow period, I dropped the probe rigger from 140 to 180 to see what it looked like down there. As i turned my back to walk away Mom yells - FISH i grab the rod and hand it to her. an exciting battle and nearly 25 minutes later her second King hit the deck @ 22lbs - a few pics later and a beautiful sunset on the lake ended the night. Overall a great weekend with fish spread from 200 - 600 FOW. almost all fish I took were "out of temp" which is typical of this time of year with the biggest fish coming from the "ICE" water. Also 600 copper was HOT every day loaded with 11" paddles and long leadered flys.
  2. Started straight out this morning in 200 found temp actually came up about 10 feet from yesterday about 150 down. Worked 2 riggers 3 divers and 600 copper. Fish were stacked between 120-200 down. Took 24 pound king off 600 copper 26 pound off 180 rigger 12 pound off 390 diver. Headed north to 400 FOW when screen went blank. 520 wire diver pulling Carmel dolphin Hypnotist fly started screaming. Finally stopped at 920 and fought fish to 600 before he made another run back to 900. 50 minutes later 32.06 lbs good for 2nd (right now) in the LOC. pics to follow.
  3. Awesome. i really put it to the test this weekend and it was perfect
  4. was able to get out friday for a couple of hours. great screen in close 80-120 range with major hooks but was only able to pull some browns from that area. I pushed deeper to see what was out there. I hit 280 and the screen lit up and so did the rods. we ended going 6 for 8 in just 2 hours with 5 Kings and 1 Coho. Everything fired from 210 Mag diver, 310 -340 Reg divers, 500 and 600 coppers, 90-120 riggers. had 50 degrees down 85. Saturday was a blow day for me Sunday I didnt get out until 6:00pm for a night trip. Started setting rods in 160 FOW and found temp in the basement. had 52 degrees down 130'. hit 190 FOW and the frenzy started. ended up going 3 for 5 in 1.5 hours. best fish was a 32.12lb King. Screen was loaded and the fish were spunky as everyone we caught jumped out of water, made some great runs, and tried their best to get us tangled.
  5. Holiday Harbor on Blind Sodus Bay is nice. Has bay dockage and a channel to get to the lake. Also close to fair haven state park
  6. from another thread but worth saying again : i want to extend my gratitude to everyone who helped out. It all started Thursday with a couple of us setting up and sharing some great laughs and ended Saturday afternoon with all of us tearing down and still laughing. As always Nick and Theresa did an outstanding job and this turned out to a great event. This is a special event for me as I always have my Father ride with me (who is a VET) and we also take another Vet from the group. Dad never talks much about what he has been through but when he meets all the other Vets and spends time with him he shares some stories and you can truly see the bond that these guys share. Although the waves were BIG and many stomachs were green EVERYONE had a smile on their face. I truly do not think that we could have had a better group of Captains or Vets for this event. I heard everyone single person there who not only fished but volunteered to cook, setup, teardown, and just plain help in anyway we needed say "I CANT WAIT TO NEXT YEAR". My hats off to everyone especially Nick and Theresa - God Bless the USA !!!!

  8. Make that 4 total for me Nick for dinner
  9. Count the wife and I in for dinner
  10. out of town working and stopped in a local West Marine and found TrikFish Slatwater leader on sale. 50 yards of 50lb leader was $4.79 and 50 yards of 40lb was $4.39. the 40 lb has similar diameters to Seagar Fluro @ .65mm / 0.026". anyone ever hear of this? attachment=3963:IMG_20130725_145657_804.jpg]
  11. I know some craft stores like AC Moore's or Michaels carry frames and can even make a custom sizes if they don't the right one. Another place to look is Christmas Tree Shop. Just find a picture and frame the same size and just replace the picture
  12. Lower both weight so they are just a couple feet under water but still visible. Troll with them and see if they are tracking correctly. Even if they track a couple inches off that will be magnified times ten when you run them deeper
  13. Took out a friend and his buddy who has never been salmon fishing before. left the dock @ 5:30 and was setting lines just west of chute in 120 FOW a little after 6. lake had a decent 2-3 foot chop in the morning. Found 50 Degrees down 80 over 120. Ran 4 riggers and 3 wire divers. 2 inside riggers pulling spoons and all others falsher fly combos. found a good pod of fish in the 140-180 range. First pass through produced a 6 lb King off the inside rigger set 82 pulling a Die Hard spoon. Next to fire was deep rigger @ 110 pulling custom taped White/Blue Spin Dr/ Hammer fly while fighting that fish 260 dipsey rips pulling White Green Dot board Big Fin fly - DOUBLED UP. landed both fish. both 2 year old Kings 16 and 15 lbs. Fish seemed to disappear after that. I pushed out to 200+ to see where they went. found them again in 190 - 220 range. Dipsey @ 286 pulling green paddle green fly ripped out to 640 before stopping. after a good fight landed a respectable 21 lb King. pointed towards the chute and rigger down 62 pulling a SSW fires and the aerial show began. after some crazy rod movings and untanglings we landed a nice 11 lb Steelhead. back at the dock by 10:30 am ]
  14. concentrate in 6-12 FOW in front of all the bluffs between Sodus and Port Bay. there have been decent numbers taken daily on shad raps, bombers, rapalas, etc.
  15. The threaded studs go from inside the reel seat facing out. Then the clamp goes around rod handle and the nuts secure it to the threaded studs.
  16. Where was the temp break in 200 FOW?
  17. Never caught a tagged fish but caught quite a few that had chips in the head. When stopped by DEC survey boat one time 5 out of the Seven kings I caught were chipped. Problem is they cut their heads off and keep them to gather the chip and data. Made for one screwed up photo
  18. You made it longer than me nick. Flies were so bad I had to run to store and hang fly sticky traps in cuddy and cabin because I brought them all back to the dock with me. I couldn't get rid of them. I sprayed them with water and swateed them and they just coming back
  19. As everyone knows the lake flipped. Had 50 degree water down 35 from 120-300 FOW. Hit one salmon in 280 FOW on high diver set at 167 with a glow frog spoon. A nice fighting 2 year old 14 lbs. Worked my way back in towards port and found a pod of bait and fish in 147 FOW down 30-50. Worked this pod and pulled all steelhead ranging from 6 lbs to 11 lbs.
  20. Hate the new fish finder its shows me exactly how many fish are there and won't bite!!!! Just kidding I love it! Can't imagine not having it
