  1. Still no tie ? Great report and pics Ed !
  2. Great report and pics I too went out on Seneca, couple nice lakers, out of Lodi, best part of the day was watching the HUGE Coast Guard/Navy helicopter sweep the fog away from the barge
  3. Got on the lake late, 6:15ish, SALAD EVERYWHERE !, could not troll, started jigging with "others", you were either a "jigger" or a "vacationer"(West arm of the lake) today BUT the weather was FANTASTIC, I got a lot of vitamin D today. If today's excursion was a Jeopardy episode, the correct answer would be "What is 166-168 FOW and a 1.5oz trolling weight with a red treble shoved up a white Berkley tube bait" ? Alex first fish didn't come till 8:38, 2ND one was shortly after that, had another that unbuttoned (that rig had a stinger treble too) started nodding off and dreaming of my pool, on the trailer and pulling out of the park at 11:00. Took the Dundee to 14 pass, Seneca looked GREAT !
  4. Motor ran GREAT, gained 3 miles on the top end.............can't get her under 2.8 MPH on the low end............I'm sure it's a simple adjustment, BUT I'M FISHING !, Seneca today, Severne, ran from Starkey Point to Severne, started in 75 FOW & went out to 300 FOW......NADA !, minimal fleas, maximal weeds ......going to Keuka tomorrow , beautiful day today though.
  5. Picked it up this morning, carbs were re-built, re-sync'ed (?) $608, got all the gel cells on the chargers, I'm going to attempt an late afternoon/evening run on Seneca ( I see Lodi is open till 7:00, is it somehow gated after that ? Ed ?, anybody, Bueller, Bueller ) Sunday (got the Grand Daughter Saturday), SOMEWHERE Monday AND possibly Tuesday, ........I'll let you know after that
  6. UPDATE: Mechanic just called, carbs need to be re-sync'ed ? and rebuilt, parts need to be ordered, holiday week (of course) says I'm looking @ next week..................HOPE he's right........jonesing I will be just in time for fleas and full blown vacationers THANK GOD I CAN AT LEAST MOW MY GRASS....... >sigh<
  7. No, no updates yet I'm wishing I covered it with all this rain And I'm hoping it's as secure as the owner assured me it was
  8. Well it's in the mechanic's hands, I'll post a follow up with the results, Thanks Jason ! for taking time and stopping by and trying to help me figure it out
  9. "the two mechanics at froggy hollow are "one" of THE best mercury guys in the finger lakes area" .................which one do I ask for ? labor does suck, BUT I guess everybody must eat
  10. Ha! pumping the "bulb" had no effect at all, I did try that out on the lake, I also tried the "choke"......made it stall immediately .........that wasn't my idea, but the other guy in the boat, and as far as fuel supply, portable tank that came w/ it no anti siphon valve, line out, bulb, line into engine, vent is in cap, took cap completely off
  11. Your just one of those instigators aren't ya !? to tell you the truth I was thinking somebody local had moved to, or was vacationing in CAlifornia, and was keeping us appraised of their doings
  12. Anybody know a Mercury outboard mechanic?, that does work on the side ?, reasonably priced ? I have a 2001 40 HP 3 cylinder Mercury outboard that has been diagnosed by no less than 5 NON mechanics, and 1 Frog Hollow marina mechanic that my carbs need to be re-built, long story short.......after listening to everybody.....I added a fuel additive to combat the horrors of ethanol fuel .......in doing so I'm informed that I have "let the hounds of Hell loose" that were peacefully living in my fuel lines and other parts of my fuel system....... other pertinent info: first trip of the season, motored away from the dock, set up doing 2-2.3 ish GPS speed trolling, freshly tuned , plugs, oil change, filter, lower end, gas filter, new primer bulb and new tank to engine line, new gas with additive (Mercury quicksilver something or other)(at the house) decided I would hit the bluff, forward ho ! up on plane, maybe 2 minutes of full throttle, starts to break up, stalls, Hmmmmmm....re-starts right back up, idles GREAT !, high idle no problem, put in gear stalls, restart, stall, restart shove it forward it's running, but only about 7 1/2 MPH, (top end on a calm day, I can get 26 out of her) other tests done, check for spun prop, put in gear see if it turns easily, does not, I can turn it but it's against engine compression, in both forward or reverse....Frog Hollow guy says kits are $100 for each carb, I'd be looking at $600-$800........in the past, with anything I have owned "marine" or "aeronautical" it ALWAYS exceeds what I'm told >sigh< Anybody ? ? ? ?
  13. Nice report Alec sounds like you beat the weather too !
  14. Let's see, surface clarity low, noise reduction low, sensitivity is 100%......BUT it's set on "auto", general fishing mode, I'm using the white background.........for me the ticket was the "ping" speed mine is set on the fastest, hope this helps Lobster, yours might have more advanced settings available........I'm also using the built in transducer on the Minn Kota Terrova GOOD LUCK ! will be waiting for a report !
  15. Sorry, thread was on "stinger hooks"....... my bad http://www.lyndenhuggins.com/fishing/howto/stingerhook/stingerhook.htm <---- maybe just different materials and add when you need them ?
  16. 1 1/2 oz. trolling sinker, fat end gets a #4 split ring & a #2 Gamakatsu treble, guess you could use a 4/0 wide gap worm hook if you have to catch every one stuffed up a 4" heavily salted Bass Pro flipping tube in white works for me ( I have the sinker mold if any local "LOU" members wanna borrow it) I don't know about the rest of you, but I get bored during the Winter months, plastics,& molds, both hand pour & injection are pretty cheap, the next "laker killer" lure color could be right around the corner Cheers
  17. Must learn how to post pics I guess............>sigh<
  18. Hit Keuka Lake @ 5:30 AM, State Park with an old bass fisherman friend, he wanted to learn something about trout jigging (yeah he came with me ?????? ) and the functions of the Minn Kota Terrova Auto Pilot trolling motor I had just purchased before he too bought one. I have been having outboard motor problems the last 3 outings, & the Minn Kota has saved the day each time, trolling with it has been a dream with the auto pilot and the cruise control (highest obtainable speed has been 2.9 MPH against a 10MPH head wind), and the "electronic anchor lock" has proved flawlessly, highly recommend one for those with 17' boats I have a Lowrance Elite 5 fish finder/chart plotter hooked up to it's built in transducer (had to buy the "adapter" cable), picture was par excellence ALL day. ALL my trolling gear was brought, BUT was left in the truck after a discussion at the boat launch, my "old friend" reminded me how we learned plastic worm fishing, spinnerbait fishing etc. etc. was by going out with just those items back in the day we were off the lake by 10:30 we went 5 lakers with MANY misses (amazed watching them ROCKET off the bottom on the fish finder, and "unbuttons) we WILL be better next time.We shared the lake with few "Valley of The Shadow" looked like they were having a good day trolling and reminded my partner every time I saw their net come out when ever they past us.Fish finder pic shows the clarity (sorry none with actual pics with fish in them, we were busy with those times to take pics or think about pic taking) the top of the view shows my partner's jig, the bottom mine, took us awhile to figure out why mine shows a double line, any guesses ? it's my swivel at my braid fluorocarbon joint yeah the view is that good !
  19. Don't forget your tie Good Luck !, looking forward to a GREAT report !
