  1. My friend shot a similar bird this year. It was bigger than a canada and had no black tips on the wings and had those combs on its neck. I just finished the Canada goose season this morning with a single over my dekes and no shotgun in my hands and 4 decoying to 25 yards away 10 feet off the water again with no shotgun in my hands. I have a friend in the Air Force who can't wait to shoot some Snows when he gets back in early April. I was driving around Lancaster PA the past two days, probably saw 15,000 each day. Saw a couple thousand land in a field in Cayuga County on Christmas day, but other than that I think I'd be better off going with a guide. Anyone know anyone?
  2. I've had relations after spirited grains around Canandaigua too. Seriously though Chowder, you should do it at least once. My friend and I are going to find a guide and try it this spring. Probably a lot easier to go with someone who knows what they are doing.
  3. Looks like a really good few days of hunting. here I was thinking you couldn't hunt ducks with the wind in your face.
  4. I thought for sure the shore around Oneida would be frozen by now. I keep trying to get someone to tell me differently, but they are acting like they are snowed in.
  5. I almost have more than I can handle. Are these GHG?
  6. Watch that Evinrude. Mix the oil and the gas 50:1 yourself, don't depend on their oil injection system. It fails without fail. As far as trolling with downriggers there are other methods to present your lures to fish when they are suspended. Size 0 Dipsey Divers on braided/wire line will dive at a ratio of approximately 1 foot down for every 3 feet let out. "45 lb" copper line will sink at a ratio of approximately 22' for every 100 feet let out at 2 mph. I would try these presentations with one or two downriggers. There are days when one presentation will not work but another presentation will. I have gone out on lake ontario so many times the last few years and all I catch fish on is my copper rods. I think back 15 years when I put 8 lines on my downriggers and still didn't catch any fish and wonder how many fish I would have caught back then if I had a dipsey diver and a copper rod.
  7. Lund SSS that exclusive club north of Montezuma isn't Savannah is it? Bluewater, I am with you, haven't seen too much since the 23rd. I am seeing some bufflehead and other divers show up in town right where I can't shoot them.
  8. I really feel for Clyde. Way more than Sylvi or Checkers.
  9. Good job kevin. How did you spaniel like all those retrieves?
  10. Great Job. Good to see they were being caught Saturday morning. I really like how Big Weenie's fly names cover all aspects of popular culture. I got a good laugh out of my dad when I explained to him what a Butterface is.
  11. Danno, I haven't heard of anyone using stick baits this time of year. Don't want to discourage you from trying, but seems like most of the reports have been about spoons and flasher/flies on downriggers, dipsey divers and coppers.
  12. Has Been, Has that 40lb mason been getting any fleas on it at all? I remember the days fondly when 30 lb mono didn't catch fleas and I only had to crank through them on my wires.
  13. I think these 15lb browns only bite for guys named Pete from New Jersey. Thanks for the report, great looking fish.
  14. Ray, where are you on the Hudson? I live a mile away from the tracks in Rockland County and was wondering what woke me up the other night. Dave, Good luck! From everyone I've talked to, you are going to like it.
