Bought a brand new eagle claw trolling rod last Saturday. Used it for the first time today. When I went to pickup I grabbed the rod to snap it of the release and guess what happened. Snap! In two. Anybody else ever do this???
Tried the boat out tonite. It didn't seem to lose signal but now the navionics chip wasn't working. Any input on this? I think next season a new graph may be in order. Grrr.
Before the end of summer I really want to make the trip out there. We fished that one day a few years back when Ontario was a no go. Really liked the lake. I am about 3 hrs away. Gotta make the trip!
Tom I am wondering if it isn't a voltage issue like you are stating. I have a buddy that used to be a marine mechanic. This sounds like. A job for him. First I am going to run to wires to the battery for my next trip. I don't think it is anything with the finder because it worked good for him. When you say puck what do you mean by that?
This spring I bought a used eagle fishfinder off a buddy. I think it is a 640. It has the gps with the external antenna. I have been having problems with the sonar loosing signal while trolling with it. The depth starts blinking then the screen gets blank. Then after a while it seems to fix itself for a bit. I have played around adjusting the tranducer but it doesn't seem to help. The gps keeps working fine. When I installed it I just used a wire under the dash that my old lowrance was hooked to. That seemed to work fine. Should I run a wire all the way directly to the battery? Also about a month ago battery died out on the lake. I charged it up and load tested it and it tested alright. Any help would be appreciated!!!!!
I decided to get this fish mounted. It may not be the biggest brown out there but from my area it is a pretty decent fish. The color and the girth is nice and the memory of my son catching it was priceless!!!!!!!!!!
I am not a pro but we use bottom bouncers and worm harness a lot. I usually run about .9 with them for walleye. The key is to make sure you got them on bottom. You can see it in the rod. The 3 ouncers are good to about 25 to 30 ft of water.
I bought my first boat last fall and spent all winter setting it up. After spending a lot of time on the water with my two sons we finally came up with a decent trout. It isn't a huge one but for my 12 year old son it is!
Thanks for all the info you guys provide!!!!
Thanks Jiffyjerk. That is exactly what I was looking for. I could find the models but no dimesions. I am cutting it tomorrow night!!!!!!!! I think I will still be able to get down to walleye speeds!!!!
I am thinking about that. Trolled for four hours Saturday and burned 10 gal of gas. Seems like a lot doesn't it. Before I had the plate I was running two 5 gal pails. Worked pretty good, but one night on the way home the pails blew out somwheres.
I am running a davis trolling plate that is the large plate on my 50 horse. It seems like way to much. I was wondering if anybody has the dimesions of the smaller plate. I am thinking of trimming some off the big plate. the plate is great for walleye speeds. When I try to get up above two I have to run pretty hot on the motor, and am burning a ton of fuel.
Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks
I have been doing this in a a local lake for lakers. I read about it on here. It has been working pretty well. I was wondering how shallow can you run the ball. I have been setting my rigger at 40 ft and sending the sliders down.
Also was wondering when you have to reel up some due to getting shallower, do you have to reset the setup?
Ranks for all the info. Been learning a lot guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
