  1. my 120 evinrude did the same. After 2 mechanics couldnt fix it i found a stuck float. It sounds like gas which is very common today. If its a carb youll know if you put your hand ober the intake and alot of extra gas on your hand Using alot of extra gas leads me think a stuck float My motor would act very inraticly and surge also.
  2. the state released 18000 browns in our harbor this spring,i did notice a increase in gulls after that.Whether they would have done better in the lake Im not sure. What is the best way to dispurse brownies 6 in. class One other note is in the fall some indiviuals come and strip these awesome fish and let them pile up on the bottom in our harbor, what a sad sight. Could a stream be blocked to prevent the fish from running it thus saving them for next year. Maybe if we could get a bullet proof salmon stamp with all the money going for the fish and enforcement (get rid of snaggers) things might improve also.
  3. great catch. How deep was the thermocline?Maybe tomorrow out in front of pultneyville.Ill give it a try. good fishing tomorrow
  4. Lake Ontario salmon is way better than Alaska.I myself realy appreciate the fishery we have after getting skunked in Alaska. One big problem is we just dont have the interest we had several years ago. Many times there are few boats fishing .No interest,no stocking might come about.
  5. dec should put up a buoy with down temp to advice fisherman of fishing conditions, would save alot of us wasted time
  6. yes andy reekers(silver blue and green) of downriggers worked very well for spring browns,i would also use a line like florcarbon now with water clarity issues.
  7. I still catch fish with them but they like it slower and my searay doesnt like slow.I wonder how many guys use silver hordes with flasher flies still.they get most of my matures with most hits on the horde.trick with them is to keep the hooks very sharp and then they dont get away.Im going to take my smaller boat 19 gls fully equiped out soon to fish my holley angels again, caught my 38 lber on the green one in pic in 1992.
  8. thats why I named my boat after the lures.Diamond King wasa close second.
  9. i have a 1978 9.9 johnson .I have it on my 1987 268 searay Its mounted on my swim platform with a older omc kick down bracket.I altered it by placinga 12x12 1/2 in aluminum plate on the platform bracket this allows me to lower the long shaft down low enough to geta proper bite below the boat.Ill adda pic tomorrow.I have autopilot on my merc so I keep it there for a backup.
  10. I pulled some of my favorites out of the box to share with you. left to right stinger, holley angels clearwater(smelt),evil eye stinger above is the Dick Treat special, small glow dodger with glow fly, with small silver horde which set above the flasher (chasing postion)was a killer combo for summer kings.Took more kings with this than any other lure
  11. the lake did a flip flop, cold water inside.Have to wait till it calms down enough to see how far out the warm water went.bet there were some 8 footers offshore here,
  12. Havnt had any problems with fleas.Im using 40 lb big game.I run three rods with fixed cheaters on roamers. Its been very effective for me.Im also using #4 silver hordes on cheaters run over spin doctors, spoons or prochips.
  13. good idea ,maybe a start a commercial goby fishery, grind em up for food fish
  14. wonder how big the kings would get.I wonder if they would feed on the abundant perch population there.
  15. Hope to get out tomorrow morning. Lots of action now and with that comming strong south wind we well might see our first turnover. Say goodbye to a steady thermocline.Time to break out leadcore and planer boards again.
  16. Someone told me they set some kings in seneca a fewyears ago,not a bad idea huh.Maybe theyll run in october
  17. the perch crave fleas. From a old timer standpoint the kings come in and lay on the bottom during the day.Its best early and late but you can get them irrated to bit midday.Everybody used spoons draging the bottom till the mussel came.Dodger flies also were used.I only had my combo down 20 minutes before I had a king on at 200pmsunday.Now if I had some helpers we would have done alot better. As soon as i get my pictures back from myson Ill show you what the old days were like.
  18. im looking for a crew now.I always had luck with that combo(spin doctor and silver horde )when the kings were at about 120 to 150.It seemed to work all daymeet you guys soon.
  19. the bite for us late was in close 90 to 115 on riggers and fixed cheaters florocarbon ,hit mostly cheater or stacker back further,42 nd mag spoon, frog, diamond king mag glow with green ladder back, good time for combos comming up
  20. fished with a great fisherman Paul .found some good fish 90 to 115 tonight ,75 to bottom,we took a brown about 7 lbs and had several hits but lost them.fixed stackers worked well and had a hit on a green and white spinny ,blue fly on a dipsey. stayed in close 85 to 120 were best screen.no problem with fleas,40 big game sent them away,

    Lake O

saw a bunch today at 50 ft..Look for structure .Tomorrow Im breaking out the riggers and leadcore.I also did talk to a few guys who caught a bunch of smaller ones in shallow5 to 10 ft. A few years ago i fished the dropoffs nw of port and caught quite a few on riggers up to 60 ft. bass are around ,al we need is to adapt to their new surroundings

    Lake O

Some guys are using leadcore.I know of one good fisherman who always limited out with trolling leadcore in deeper water.I got a rig now and experming with it.I guess you need light flocarbon for leaders and heard small shad raps work well.I have caught many bass deeper using riggers and rubber band release on roamers.storms.deep diver plugs, different colors .One day blue andsilver ,other days perch, crawfish design. changes alot.I do know some diver teams who see quite q few,a good source of knowing where they are lakr erie I have been told the bass congregate alot around the plentiful wrecks there in summer. Hey maybe the state will start stocking a few here..
  23. didnt find any fleas at all down by pultneyville.Fished before dark, things got going late. All hits were on riggers down 70ft.52 degree water. Not many fish but they sure got active later on. Again all hits on mag diamond king with glow and ladderback spoon.I forgot my file so I lost a few good fish with them..Got to sharpen those hooks after any big fish so they dull and you lose the next hits.
  24. had good luck with 40 lb, big game last year for fleas, only problem was knots sticking in rod tip
