  1. I got your point on your first post ..Cody......Over at Otsego Lake in Cooperstown......they are rude ( It's a HORRIBLE mud launch with a flimsy dock ) and they charge 10 bucks...This is a great fishery stocked by New York DEC and the city has the only launch....On the north end is a State Park ....but NO launch...I understand your frustration and will take your advice about the alternate launch..
  2. I'm sorry to hear about your loss...Split. My thoughts and prayers go out to you
  3. Thanks for the detailed report..Chuck..I'm gonna get rigged for Splake and Sturgeon fishing...Just kidding....VERY interesting about the sturgeon....I've been fishing Cayuga a long time and never knew about the sturgeon
  4. This weekend will be my last ....They shut the water off here at my camp on Monday.....Looks like nice weather starting Wednesday through Sunday....My son is in the same boat as some of you...He got flooded at home....His company got flooded but they are back up and running.....So he will be here this weekend.....It's been a long wet windy summer....but my daughter down home tells me that it's been over 100 degrees 63 days this summer and NO rain....Half the state burned up....I'll take what we had over that....I'm having withdrawals........NOT from Texas...from fishing Cayuga
  5. Thanks for that awesome report .. ..GREAT pictures...Lat time at Fair Haven ....we stayed at Screwy Louies and he turned us on to that SD and fly....Had good luck ...but that was 6 weeks ago...
  6. I went to Bear's last night and paid entry.....Filled the boat with gas....( gasp )....I'm still hooked to the boat and don't think I will fish... ..Treman is very high and VERY muddy....Drove down to TP and the outlet is clogged with logs and debris. ....Thursday night there was a log inside the bridge about 15 feet long.....Chomping at the bit to fish....but my son and grandson who always fish with me are stuck in Otego with basement flooding and road closures....Just afraid I will get in trouble and hit a log....My boat is a 245 Trophy hardtop and hard to fish alone....especially if there is wind or debris to dodge
  7. Congrats ....Good job and thanks for the pictures...There are some trophies here in Cayuga....Just gotta find 'em
  8. Thanks for the post and the picture....Looks like you have a happy crew...Keep working at it and the BIG fish will come...
  9. Hottest lure for us has been a Mooselook thinfish ( purple and black ) behind the 0 Luhr Jensen dodger...It has also worked well as a free slider...Also green-black-silver stingers and NKs same color..Flies and spin doctors or big flashers haven't been that good for us this year....They were hot last year....Good luck....It seems that most fish have moved south of Sheldrake.....I fished out of Dean's Cove.last Friday....fished north'till I was across from the cliffs..........went over to the East side and fished down to Long Point....Bite was slow and the fish were small..........Lots of grass on the East side
  10. Check out the classified section here on LOU...Usually some used equipment bargains....wayne is right...........One big King ...Brown or Steelie and you will be hooked....Good luck
  11. That fish is amazing....what's more amazing is the gentleman who caught and released it....Kudos to Uncle Charlie and his nephew
  12. This time of year....best fishing is south of Dean's Cove...Last time there I went straight across to about a mile north of Long Point and set up running south....Best action was in 150 to 180 FOW...Anything green/black was good..............also green A-TOM-MIK behind a # 0 Dodson attractor worked well...Put your radio on scan and you will find the guys fishing..My neighbor fished late afternoon Sunday and landed a nice Brown ( about 10 lb. and a Laker about 8 ) right in front of the creek off T Point in 150 Fow.....Both came on green/ black stinger behind a chrome attractor
  13. Thanks for sharing your day....Great to see the kids out there....Your son is hooked for life....Beautiful shot of him and his catch
  14. Nice report.............Great to see the kids enjoying our sport..Thanks for the pictures and smiles
  15. Thanks for the report and pictures..Also thanks for your honesty about the ego bustin experience....I fish alone a lot and have been humbled several times with similar things...I'm glad you were able to save the good stuff.....Years ago at Lake George....we broke the boom right off the downrigger....Lot's of F bombs that day
  16. Great report and pictures...Thanks for posting...That shot of your daughter and the wall hanger is priceless...
  17. Thank you very much for the input, the KATHLEEN,i for sure think I am going to check that out.Only 70 miles or so drive time!Again thank you everyone that responded

  19. One of my summer neighbors knows what the fine is...........How 'bout it Gary??????/
  20. Just wondering if the dock is secure at Dean's Cove.....One of my neighbors said it washed out and was floating out past the break wall....I don't want to trailer the 20 + miles if I can't launch...Any information would be appreciated.....
  21. My son and I finally got out on Cayuga Saturday.. First trip because of high water and debris.. We went out of Treman and water was VERY muddy for a couple miles after the monsoon Friday night...I was worried about water in gas after seeing Zeke and hearing his horror story.. We caught five Lakers and one nice LL about six pounds..Best lure was a watermelon shoehorn...Only fished about a mile north and south around Crowbar...110 to 130 Fow showed most fish ....marked lots of bait and fish 55 to 105 ft.... High point of day was watching a Dad and his 5 and 8 year old sons fishing in a small boat and the eight year old landed a Brown that weighed 14.8... The Dad had it hanging on the scale and my son zoomed in and got a nice shot.....Fish was almost as big as the boy...
  22. Checked the weather for the next week....... ...RAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN... .I went down and checked the lake....No way would I take my boat out on it....Too high and too much crap floating...I haven't missed this tournament in several years. ..but will have to pass this time....Good luck all
  23. Any information about Owasco??? Is it fishable?? Fifty mile trailer ride...but I'm having withdrawals.....Been a long winter and Cayuga is off limits
  24. Bass Pro Shops have the book..It's not just the license in New York that is high....EVERYTHING in NY is insane....Taxes....fuel....But ( lol ) I live all winter just to fish New York all summer....$70.00 was a shock at first ( fixed income )...but I have fished in Colorado ( Yampa River & Stagecoach Lake ) and their license is higher...One summer when my grandson played baseball in Los Vegas...I took my other Grandson to Lake Mead ....bought a license and rented a boat...Suprise....Had to buy TWO licenses ( Nevada and Arizona ) ONE day was half of what my New York is for a year...My buddies who fish only here in Texas salivate when I show them pictures of my NY fish...What was that old Credit Card Ad that said " priceless " >>> That's how I look at the cost of fishing New York
  25. Thank You.22 for posting that..Over in Otsego ( Cooperstown ) Lake ..they stocked walleyes several years ago and although they stay mostly in the north end around " sunken island ".I believe what you stated is happening there. My son and I fish this lake once in spring (shakedown) and in the fall ( after our camps at Cayuga ) are closed....The catch ( we catch and release ) is not as great last year as in years before the walleye....even though the limit has been lowered to ONE on trout and LL..
