  1. with my boat down for the season i have been dissapointed and limited to swamps and creeks, so i got a little reckless and took the 12 footer out in the upper river , even tho the hunt was great i dont think i will ever do that again. talk about having a heart attack, staying close to shore is not a problem but running down cripples. thank god it only lasted a hour PS. if any of you guys want to up your limits with a extra guy shoot me a pm,for my big water days this year are over
  2. you made them, wow ,,,great job ps, where is the order form
  3. I would have to lean 4.5 plus. simply judging the pot belly, slouched back and i think the legs are the give away tho look at som 2 or 3 year olds there legs look long for there body, not this guy tho legs look full and short in comparison to long and muscular........stick em now
  4. I'm hearing some scary reports from Biekerchs about recievers and barrels being BLOWN up from this stuff not sure I'd want to be anywhere close to that. Just my 2 cents, I've shot Black Cloud since it hit the market and really like the stuff is there any answer for why this happen , or is it just another case of some guy who cant read and shoots big steel through a tight choke? i searched and found no deffinative evidence on why. the only time i have ever seen that happen was with black cloud shot out of a 3 1/2 10gauge with bb and the old trusty x-full turkey choke, silly uncle still dont listen , but anyway i burnt through just shy of two cases in september and have two more ready for the ducks, shot it second half of last year when store was out of kent's with no issue what so ever .. i use a a400 xplor and 2 benellies sbe2 and a vinci. not one missfire. failure, cycling issue anything ps if your back in there ask someone why it happened, would love to hear it thanks
  5. ha ha , if that were the case my house would be for sale tomorrow, or i would be on dec top ten most wanted
  6. man, i dont no about any of you guys but im about to lose it, i cant wait anymore... i have been so fired up all summer just waiting for waterfowl to open, every day , all day thats all thats on my mind . my wife is about to kill me .. i really might have a heart attack this year, the first time i see those wings cupped, legs out, turning his head to take a look at the deek,s and then BOOOOOOOOM-fluff-thump. and the smell ya you no the smell im dying for , gunpowder on a crisp sept mourning.. ya its pretty bad, i no
  7. Your rite not much is free, but must people farmers especially dont care about waterfowl at least over here in wny you could get permission 8 out of 10 times you stop and nock on a door. I wouldent pay just yet unless its a prime flyway peice where fresh ducks are arriving daily, if not you will shoot it out the first week.. and with 82 days left untill canadas open again you have plenty of time to ask
  8. I also take my kids there a couple times a year. dead stick a minnow with a slip bobber seems to be the preffered method for steelies but slow winding spoons for the kids will deff keep them occupied with the shad although i have never seen a legit hookup
  9. are you looking for eyes on chautauqua, or you just want some fun fishing?
  10. for my layout blind and my clam i take them to a tent company near home ,sterling tent, but anyhow i would look for a local tent or canvass company they always do a great job
  11. it was the best day i ever had , really didnt goose hunt much i have been trying my hand at the open water diver hunting but thus sure made me remember why i love waterfowl in general
  12. i waited till thursday, ice off mayville was 3.5 all black, 4:30 till midnight, perch size has def gone up picked up a few crappie buit nothing to wright home about just yet.
  13. thinking of heading down tonight for the night bite, any of you guys tried it yet?
  14. i couldnt help it , i went to finish up some x-mass shopping and ended up with 2dz bluebills 1dz ringneck, bufflehead and shovelers,, longlines and everything else i could find, So i could really use some help with a couple things, i plan on hunting ontario more than the river and im deff not asking you guys to burn spots but is there a x like puddle and goose hunting or should i just get cozy on the mudline I hear thats where they primarily feed, but i see them scattered everywhere while fishing? I have read everything i can find but no one talks about scouting, or what type of spots produce more ducks ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Bluebills @@@@@ rings % % buffies The boat ******* spoonies %% ^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^ bluebills this look rite to you guys, i would really appreciate any comments about this or how you guys do what you do, Hope to see you out there
  15. When i meat hunt, i mean doe hunt "no sense shooting a little buck" I honestly take the head shot and as close to the road as possible, I took two this year and well it obviously puts them down hard and no waste ever! And it adds a little extra challange
  16. o ya sorry , i am a pusher and my group dose pretty good and i would say that the 8g 9h 9m areas that i hunt ratios are more like 20-1 and as far as a buck to mature buck ratio 140 or better maybe 12-1. so we go through a uncountable number of acres to see 240 doe 12 "scrubs" and one shooter
  17. A couple years ago i attended a extremely intresting seminar at a SCI meeting,, This study was doe management for buck hunting. The first part was about ratios, the line i like the most was if the buck has 15 doe locked down in the swamp there is no reason to go looking for more. thats why you see 1.5 year olds running all over town but not daddy, he's home in bed.. when there are that many doe avaliable there is no reason to fight about it , witch is why ratteling ny dosent work like texas. if you had a true 1-1 or even 3-1 in your area the mature bucks would do alot more cruzing and fighting. But if you ask me this is the reason you should shoot more doe, and im sure enough searching online you could find the whole study, he stated that 10 doe with 2 button bucks a piece were trapped all deer were implanted with tracking chips. 5 of the doe were removed from the property releasing the buttons back in the same spot, the other 5 were released with there yearlings. the next year at 1.5 yrs old the ten bucks that were released with there mother had left the property, they all had traveled 3 to 7 miles away from there release points. The 10 bucks who had mommy taken from the property stayed from 0-2 miles from there release point, His thought was this is a natural defense against inbreeding, regardless of why they do it they did and if you want to see more and more mature bucks you should reduce the number of doe and if you can help it take the one with buttons in tow..... and ratios are def. not true or accurate this time of year due to nocternal movement, if you really have a gang and can efficiantly push all the deer out of a area would give you better numbers or wait untill they herd up after season and spotlight or wait untill a full moon but that still dose not account for the deer that are still in the woods
  18. thanks for the reply, I guess im just lucky i have 3 slug guns i use on any given day most of the time its my super black eagle II equipped with a ACOG sight sst 2"high at 100 win, platinum, rem acutip .05 high to dead zero barnes , copper solid, the blue lightfeilds 1" low at the most and all hold perfect windage, i actually load the sst acutip and platinum all togather thats a 12 ga My M2 20Ga with a 2.5-7 shoots the same but with a much greater difference in drop and i only shoot the sst so i dont have to guess the drop beyond 100 i see a much greater diff in the drop but still no "flyers" this topic always intrigues, like most of us i have heard it my whole life "try a bunch of ammo see what shoots best" and i have honestly never had a gun shoot like that, i dont no why? I have hunted and shot with the same 5 guys my whole life we go to the range ,swap bullets, guns and never seen it happen. And i do shoot alot , I can see how i must sound sometimes but i am a 5-6,000 round a year kind of guy . that aint much by some standards but more than average i guess I have heard it , You have shown it to me and i really do trust your results, do your other or older slug guns have varied results also? PS: That pie plate at 50 cracks me up every year, but the best one heard lately was at buff gun center this guy bought a new 270 and had it bore sighted picked it up day before the season, he was trying to return his peice of junk gun because he missed a buck standing still at 75 yds broadside opening mourning so as sad as it sounds at least them guys take the time to shoot a pie plate
  19. I wish i could, all my stuff is frozen. few mergansers in the creek but i cant hunt that untill deer season is over, hopefully it,s still flowing for late season. I would love to learn how to hunt the big water, seriously anyone need some gas money, coffee lunch. I would much rather meet , learn and hunt with one of you guys than pay a guide to show me the ropes. My puddle program is on point but past that im lost, shoot me a pm or something
  20. hey chrome i was curious about your findings, wondering if you went back out on a day with no wind ect and if you had the same results, I have never shot off a led sled but found the diversity of some of the groups ,,, intresting to say the least. that 1" group of three was perfect but when you added two the group grew as well. did your barrell get hot in the mean time?,, were you adjusting the scope or did the slugs really hit from upper left to lower right with the diff slugs. i have alot of guns most people say to many and i never had a group that loose at 100 w different ammo maybe a couple inches here or there. one more question , did the groups stay in the same spot relative to the target at diff yardages obviously the drop would change but the windage shouldnt.. I am as certian as i can be sitting behind my comp. that it was not shooter error, with the bench, caldwell, ect, to any other shooters, have you ever experienced that much diversity with diff ammo, if so what kind of gun and what ammo were you using? Just a curious gun nut
