  1. Mostly DW standard and a handfull of stinger standard. Sounds like Im running the gear ok just not the right spoon hopefully
  2. Have you guys ever tried a clip dipsy? Not a slide diver. In fisherman ran a article a few years back. I've tweaked it a bit to my own liking for eyes but I may crossover for you's. My basic setup is 30lb braid to a 20 ft floro leader with a spro power Swivell in between. Here's the magic take a or-18 release clip and attach it to the front of the diver and I use a quick connect on the back "looks like a paper clip" then I clip the release just above the Swivell on my mainline slide the floro thru the quick connect. Now I have a 20 ft leader when the diver gets to the boat just pop it off like a inline board. Sometimes with a good fight it WILL pop off the line but with the quick connect or some people use a snap Swivell it slides down to the snap Swivell in front of my harness in your case the flasher and will get scooped up with the net. In reality you could run 100 ft leaders like this run out as much line as you want snap it on reset the counter and go to town! Hope this helps
  3. And thanks guys I'll try longer leads by the end if the week, how deep below the ball do you suppose a spoon runs just out of curiosity @ 100ft?
  4. I'm not picking but try setting one in and just loosen the drag so it deploys itself in the meantime get your next rod setup and started. By the time your third rods started since you only run 3 L R C your first one will be down and ready to lock in. Leave the clicker on so you don't forget it still moving. And he's already fine running 2 dipsys per side his question was switching to wire and other than the obvious fact that the depths may change a little due to line diameter and a couple other minor factors yes you'll be fine
  5. Ya not true at all landed 6 in 2 hours just yesterday boat was in 9 boards were probably in 7 and 11. And sorry but 9 hits a day is far from slaughtered them. I have no problem finding or catching fish. The question was why I don't get any action on my riggers w spoons. If I put sticks on riggers they catch fish just not spoons.
  6. It will work the same, my setup for Erie eyes 2 riggers 4 dipsys and 4 cores on the big boards. Deepest in the middle highest on the outside. Fiero if your tangling that much just running lines try making bigger turns and deploying your dipsys slow as can be. Thumbing the spool is to fast the line will wrap the dipsy in a second flat
  7. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or just no luck. But I never hit a fish on my spoons. Now I only fish in the spring on Ontario but out of 15 trips last year and only one this year not one fish on a spoon. Ive played around with leads from 20-40 ft off the ball witch I run about 6 ft down in 9ft of water or i try to stay 3-4ft of the bottom with a variety of spoons. Dose this sound rite cause I read about people hitting fish off the riggers all the time and would like to get some use out of those 2 lines?
  8. No ice but as always watch out for branches logs. JP- gotcha, glad I could help. Wasn't sure if that was you or the guys I saw in the harbour on the way into the dock.
  9. Funny you mentioned that, I was just checking webcams to see how much Ice is out there. Sooner the better, there's a few jumbos out there with my name on them!
  10. I know a guy in Batavia if your willing to pull it down there,
  11. Got out at 10am today hit the double 5 minutes into the troll! ended up tangeling all 6 lines, i ended up just cutting them all off took about a hour to retie and get setup again ended up 6 for 7 in 3 hours total, family had a blast. firetiger and uv thundersticks @ 2.2 infront of the blue steps in 9 fow was the ticket
  12. I'm going to give it hell tomorrow, will be out with kids, starting late 10 ish but who knows I fished this week last year and did ok. Tight lines
  13. Who else is going this weekend?
  14. Thanks everyone, The transects are neat, I was quite surprised to see the shore temps cooler than the offshore temps even at 150'.
  15. Hey, what site are you guys using for current lake temps, I've been checking the satellite temps and don't no if there accurate, Also are there any temp sensors on the niagara18 or oak?
  16. I used my wife's name as well, She had been planning and saving for a vacation for quite some time while I was shopping for a boat, At the time we couldn't find the rite used boat for us so we took a ride the boat show and that was it , Found what we were looking for but I didn't have enough for the down payment saved so she tossed in her beloved vacation money and knowing that must have killed her I named it Breaking Dawn! And in turn we've taken more small trips camping ADK's and finger lakes with the boat than ever so were both happy!
  17. I'd be interested in the rods with the 47 lc's if you start separating
  18. Just out of curiosity where would you be fishing for spring browns? Only reason I ask all of my spring fishing is relatively shallow and running 2 rods per side would only leave a couple feet of separation between the divers. Sounds disasterous if a good fish hits the outside line? I could very well be completely wrong but inside 25fow I run boards and a snap weight if nessacary [ Post made via iPhone ]
  19. I don't no how I missed this last year but great video! [ Post made via iPhone ]
