  1. Best of luck to each of you LOU folks out there this weekend. It should be a lot of fun....tight lines everyone and stay safe.
  2. Good luck with things Justin....always frustrating with motor stuff and especially considering the circumstances. Hang in there bud. Les
  3. Congrats on the win! At least you know you are right on track with what you're doing....
  4. Those two fish probably would be "money fish" if caught tomorrow WTG
  5. Thanks Ed. Guess I'll have to evaluate at the north end tomorrow AM and decide whether it is stillfishing, jigging. pulling copper or trolling....I'm prepared to do any of it but the debris can take the fun out of things real fast. A friend said he saw a telephone pole upright in the water out there yesterday.
  6. The #10 should go through just about any level wind guide while the #8 can be a closer call on some of the newer reels
  7. Kuba - What I've always done to secure the trolling motor is to place a long shaft padlock through the holes on the butterfly screws after tightening them down good(lining them up first)....assuming you have the type with the holes....
  8. Anyone out there for a report on the water conditions at Sampson or north end?
  9. I've been tangled up with lawn and house stuff pre derby and now sitting here now wondering how all this debris and muddy water is going to impact the trolling tomorrow. I had 4 pages of notes and 98 percent of it relating to trolling...now I'm wondering if I will be stillfishing or jigging...could have saved some time and paper At this point I'm just hoping that everyone makes it through the derby safely north and south. I heard there are even telephone poles out there as well as the tree limbs i saw myself yesterday. All of us need to use caution and good sense while out there. Best of luck to you Joe and to all your southern comrades most of whom are probably hunkered down at Sampson right now trying to stay dry. I don't have to wish the northern guys luck because they are at "home" at this end of the lake.... Les
  10. Looks like a wet tough derby coming up....can't believe all this rain....good luck John!
  11. Pap....I have been using them for years and years and have not had any issues with them...most issues with spoons relate to added weight and/or bending etc. and the eyes are so small and light weight that they don't seem to impair action at least for the spoons I've used.
  12. My 135 Opti trolls down to 1.7 mph at 540 rpm's and I use it against the wind mainly trolling wise and my 9.9 for most usual trolling. If you use it for trolling I'd interrmittently "blow it out" full throttle when changing locations etc. I had the same set of plugs for 12 seasons (replaced this year) and they weren't all that bad even then so my "system" worked anyway....
  13. The thermocline doesn't usually start forming until early/mid June in most places
  14. Hey Ray ...great pics of your feet in a couple of the pics....surprised you didn't paint them with matching lure paint might have served as an"attractor"
  15. That is a virtual treasure chest....if I didn't already have so many and in duplicate I'd buy the whole bunch....i know they may be "old school" but they work....
  16. I know this might sound a bit strange but it is possible he had the early stages of Alzheimer's and was embarrassed that he wasn't able to count them correctly....and had a "catastrophic" (out of the ordinary) reaction to the fact that it was pointed out to him....and believe it or not there are folks out there that are illiterate or cannot count and just "guesstimate". A lot of possible interpretations here.....the fact that he got angry so quickly suggests embarrassment to me.
  17. No boats allowed on Honeoye or Canandaigua now....can't even test out my motors now before the derby.....just hope they don't pull that stuff on Seneca....
  18. I took a look at the north end today both east and west side there too. You folks that are choosing to launch at Sampson and elsewhere may luck out because the whole north end (as far as I could see) is full of floating debris today (sticks, limbs, and some logs with a lot of stuff that looks like bark and wood chips covering the area. There is a whole lot of the stuff ripping down the Seneca canal a a very fast pace (the fastest current I've seen in my lifetime (i.e. since the Revolutionary War ) It looked like about 5 mph and there were large ripples and swirls at the mouth of it and I've never seen that before either....the water is very murky but not really muddy. There would have been no way to troll today using any method at the north end itself....pretty discouraging and I don't think there is enough time for it to clear out before the derby. Sorry I forgot my camera or I would have taken some pics.
  19. The 22's are pretty close in size and action so if you find them they are just about as good as the 44's
  20. Good point about not needing full rollers for the dipseys I use mine for Seth Greens and the others for dipseys.
  21. Nautitroller... looks as though you are all set to go and in the pic it looks like you have some kind of secret weapon (left side sticking up from the boat....could it be communication antenna to aliens )
  22. Yeah it has been so long since I've heard those Cayuga boys catching anything but lampreys....I had kinda forgotten about them....sort of like going to the race track though and throwing your money at a real long shot that isn't a mud runner...and the way the lakes are right now that could be important
  23. I have some twillis but they sit in a drawer in the cellar....I've used roller tips and wire for more than 40 years and love them and I'm with Gambler as far as the reasons. I have some rods with all rollers and tip and some with just the first guide and a roller tip and they both work about the same.
  24. Sweet! your rig looks brand new Mike....you did a great job on it.
