  1. Hi all, Sorry for the late post but fished yesterday morning (6/23) in front of the bay and east towards Webster. 125-180 FoW. Not a ton of bait but fish where there and scattered - 4/5 on salmon and lost the only major we had on but we got a 12lb, 11lb, 9lb, and 7lb so not too bad. The big boy was there for about 2 mins and came unbuttoned but the rod was going berserk. Most hits came 40-60 down - all riggers and MVP was NBK. Beautiful day to be out there. Seems like transition is over and based on my screen, it appears that that thermocline was down around 50. Have fun out there ..... Flanman
  2. I would agree - sorry for not posting earlier. We wound up with 5 browns, a nice smallmouth, a 20 lb laker in 25 feet of water, 15 feet down, and a Cisco in 5 FoW on a stick (first one for me and super neat to see). Fishing was a steady pick until around 9:30 away from the traffic, then it slowed. It was a split between Thunderstick Jr's with orange belly and Glow Frog spoons on the riggers parked between 5 and 15 feet down, depending on the DoW. Beautiful day to be out and a great initial run. Thanks to all, Flanman
  3. Good to see your report! I used to fish out of that port a TON when I had a cottage out that way. I loved fishing out there because there weren't many boats and you were kinda between the Oak and Olcott. In May, we would get the Niagara water too if the wind blew the right way and it would be fantastic. Summer months would hold fish too from 250-500 most days and the browns stack up in July in that 50-90 foot section. It's a cool area and not many folks use or it know about it. The bummer is that they don't keep that channel open as much as they could but I would imagine that it's a never ending job. Thanks again for your post! Flanman
  4. Between the moon and transition, the bite has to be tough right now. I'll get out in a week or so and give it another try. Fishing on the west end this spring was pretty good and lot's of skippy sized fish so I'm hoping that's a good sign. Thanks for the report Flanman
  5. Super cool! Congrats on the catch! Love seeing the Cisco Flanman
  6. Fishing on their side of the fence is not a great idea. Our licenses have no bearing on that side of the line. Personally, I think it’s stupid but not my call. Flanman Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Ran out at 7AM and worked 75-125 FOW - 2 small kings and lost 3. No majors. Lots of marks and bait. Only had until 11AM so didn't want to push out too far as my buddy had to be back for a meeting. Tried mostly a spoon program, green glow frogs, mongoose, and chicken wings - put WD-40 on 100 foot of the main line (30lb Ande) and the fleas come right off. I run 15 foot of 12 lb fluorocarbon leaders in front of the Ande but no WD-40 on that as it's running horizontal in the water. Will try again tomorrow as I will have more time. I think we are fighting that full moon a bit. It was very bright last night with the clear sky. Thanks and good luck to all, Flanman
  8. Super cool! That's the best. I love taking my niece too - she goes crazy and it's so much fun watching the kids catch crappies, white bass, yellow perch, and sunnies. It's one of my favorite things to do.
  9. I have a log in my fishing diary from the early 90s that says when the alewives are dying in late May, pull the boat and go find another lake to fish or go get some chores done. There had to be an upwelling or something which is normally what causes it - thermal shock. I was up by the lake in Webster on Thursday and it stunk pretty bad. It will all come back as soon as the thermocline sets up. This hot weather must have the lake in transition, I would imagine. If it is, it will just set up that much faster and the early summer bite will be on. Just my .02 dollars. Flanman
  10. Was out there all day Friday on the south end and didn't see a flag move - over 20 tip ups out between us the the group near us. Plenty of ice though - 6 inches in some spots and that was Friday. Good luck Flanman
