I have the Volvo aq260 engine. It's a 5.7. Just a different color! I upgraded last year, not by choice but by failure. Mine quit while I was on a trip. I highly recomend the mallory electronic ignition system. Drop and go. I believe the kit is a mallory YLM ...... I forgot the numbers but its a bit pricey but my boat runs a ton better. However it says on kit that you can use OEM coil. Dont! This system will burn it up. You will need the coil pack, not the canister/cylinder. My boat rubs better than ever before.. Just my two cents, worth every penny. Nick

We get a lot of them at certain times of year on browns. I'd say we killed close to fifty last year. Some browns and salmon were coming up with three on them at a time. All at the gills. Small ones about4-7 inches but we had a few that were 18 inches... May they rest in pieces...

I believe you can check the signal out of the module. See if the coil is receiving signal to throw spark. Should be the wire opposite of the hot wire? I am not sure without looking but maybe its blue? Not quite sure. If you need a hand, let me know maye a second set of eyes can help. Live right around the corner from ya. Nick

Anyone else go for the Okuma Coldwater Linecounter?
lakebound88 replied to MarkNY's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Friend got them. Been using all winter. The drags are sticky at first. The counters are off. Everytime you let them out, it does not return to zero. Will stop around 50-75 on one and 40 on the other... Not sure why, but he just resets and lets her back out... Nick -
It's always a great thing, no matter what body of water, but nothing beats homewaters!

Great Thread, and nice to read everyones stories... Oh, and that reminds me, That is how I got mine. My friend and I were up fishing before I bought my current boat at sodus. We looked the trophy in and out just amazed at the eyesore but the potential she had. We were out fishing the lake the next day and I thought to myself... What would I name it? So I asked justin, and we shot names all day long. I knew I wanted it to have meaning and I really liked the fact that all boats have a great story. I like boat names that had REEL in them.. I asked justin, how do I encorporate all of this? He sat on it and simply stated "REEL STORIES", I laughed and as a ball buster said HA! Then I said it even more, it all made sense, it was the PERFECT name. I knew it had meaning, and it explains it all. REEL STORIES, go figure? When we fish, the STORIES get told over and over. Where were they made? At the end of the REEL. Nick

Okuma Blue Diamond Dipsy Rods. 8'6" These are in good condition. One is missing the plastic Butt that broke in the rod holder, but I used them all season this way. They are three seasons old. All rollers. I would rather switch to twilli's again. Already did. these are ready to go. i will sell them here fot $75 as a set. I switched over to twillis again because with clients they tend to drop the rod too fast and get the line caught in the roller. Not often but happens. Still work great. I have fished roller rods for kings before on taloras. I would imagine they are just a nice but cheaper. Nick

Sorry, but I must disagree. i sell a lot of stuff on here and I also buy a lot of stuff. When I log into LOU, it instantly says, " HEY YOU HAVE A NEW PRIVATE MESSAGE" So, I check that first, in the order of messages. I dont pick and choose. No body is going to respond publicly, hey send twenty bucks to my [email protected], they just won't. PM's are the way to go. It would make more sense to me if you just typed "PM sent" and send a PM, then for sure you know you were the first to claim. I recently had a deal that sucked. But we both worked through it. Take it like a grain of salt if need be, but just don't start calling people out. This is a great site, and for someone who does not contribute money to the site should not be calling out the mods for something they have NOT done wrong. LOU is a great place. Nick.
