LOVE it.. small fish but its all the same concept I keep my boat about half mile from Micky, Havent seen him out since before the stroke, hope he is doing good... 7. 6 yrs of schooling, you wont even be able to afford the payment! LOL JK
  8. Yahtzee!! Well put. I am one of the youngest here, and one of the youngest captains I believe in the state. But, by no means am I an expert.. I learn things daily from this site, phone calls, advice... did I say advice? I wouldn't be where I am today if it was not for this site.. I grew up seth green rig fishing, 5 years ago, I didnt know what a downrigger was, let alone a thermocline.. I hope to be as you are, still learning and still fishing with the passion that this sport deserves. Anyways, I think the word expert is a long shot... I can't wait to read more on this subject.. Nick
  9. Had some returning clients yesterday (7th) and they showed up early! Just how I like it. We left the dock a half hour sooner, which it really didn't matter with the sun so high and lake so flat at 3 pm. We ran north 7 miles or so and set up shop in the middle of the lake. Parked the probe at the thermo and let out the 7 color, ten color core. 200/ 300 copper, dipsys at 250 mag 1.5 and 260 mag 1.5, dipsys 225 001 at 2.5 and 255 001 at 2.5(these didnt touch one fish), We trolled our way north in search of bigger bait pods. I knew we needed the sun to start to set and I was right, at about 5 the rods started popping, one right after another. All BIG lake trout today. I have never had so many lunkers in one day. I wish I could of fought some of these pigs. averaging 7-10 pounds with a couple over.. Mostly females full of eggs.. All stockies too which was odd... Most of my big fish this year have no clips.. These all did. riggers were parked at 130 with a white green dot SD with white A-TOM-MIK halo fly. the 250 dipsy with the same setup. the other with a green nuc e chip with whoopie goldberg fly.. Hot spoons were the chicken wing in all flavors and the michigan stinger steelie stomper. Hot rainbow producer was the MS copper mass confusion. ran at the thermo at around 40-55 feet dpending where on the lake we were.. To make it better, I had a friend home from Virginia who had the summer off from teaching, and I asked if he wanted to help out. He has never fished on my boat let alone trolled. He had a blast, by the end of the trip the clients were telling him to wind fish in. I had him setting riggers, coppers, cores and even dipsys by the end of the trip.. I think I HOOKED another one!!!! He is ready for more but has to go back home this weekend. We hit fish right up till the end. A great day on the water, unfortunately I only got one picture of one of the doubles that was a slob. Hope to get an email with more pics from the guys! Hot area was 400 FOW fishing 40-130 down at ball speed of 2 MPH. hit fish on outside and inside turns.. Nick Here is the one shot..
  10. <<<<<-----------I paid twenty bucks, therefore I sir, am a professional... Just kidding, I saw something or another of this topic this morning before 7 am. It struck me odd. I tried talking with the "experts" at the pro am once. I got a cold shoulder.. A big one, and I was even congratulating the team well done. Expert- Definition- A large Richard Cranium. On another note, let's leave the "pros" and "cons" to the democrats...
  11. What ed said... Browns like 57 degree water.. where that thermo meets the bottom you will find browns... The salmon I tend to find just a tad cooler in 52-55.. its not uncommon to find these fish in cooler or warmer water depending on what type of front, or feed they are on... [ Post made via Android ]
  12. Hey guys. I need help figuring out an issue. A kayak is paddling inside a no boat marker. Is this breaking the law? If so, in what way? I can not find where a kayak is considered a vessel or boat and needs to abide by this specific no boat marker... Anyone want to chime in? [ Post made via Android ]
  13. Ed fished yesterday. Peach orchard four hundred line wad hot lakers down 130 and bows down about 45. All paired were 7-10. Big and full of eggs kept some and released some.. [ Post made via Android ]
  14. what broadhorizon said..... The antenna can even make a cheap radio perform like a million dollar unit...
  15. Surveyor Sean Bartnett 585-624-1380 I myself would love the fact of owning a Luhrs... There is a few on my lake way too big of course, but a guy can dream.. Give sean a call, does a great job! Nick
  16. Water test it!!!!!!!!!! And SURVEY!!!
  17. not bad, check out my report.. the wind made it a PIA but the weeds were gone..
  18. Hey guys, late report for Seneca. Had a couple from Texas up, and heading out on the water shortly after 5:30. We ran north about 7 miles. Set up south of the castle. The wind was building and the waves were rolling. We had plenty of marks, no weeds and a TON of fleas. Only build-up of fleas was on the rigger cable(power pro) and the dispys line. We hit fish on a north troll all day as it was too heavy to make a turn. The waves were rolling good. We took fish on Coppers, cores, dipsy's, and riggers. Lost three fish that I would of loved to seen. We all know how that goes, when you can just tell the rods bent right over, barely gaining line... Yeah... Those kinds of fish.. Finnished with a good number of fish to please these Salt water enthusiasts to wanna come back for more in the future! That made us feel pretty good. We hit Bows, LL, Lakers. No browns for us today, although I did try some brown water, but I did not switch to the right colors. Hot Lures. SD Green frog with yellow killer fly SD white/green dot with atommik White Halo O&M spoons Stinger/ DW blues, oranges, pinks.... Pictures to follow! Nick
