  1. Les, Nice bows! I was out for a trip at about 3pm and passed by you on the way out. We had a very tough first couple hours but did find a bite between 5 and 7. Most towards 7. Mostly lakers for us in the 3-4lb range. Lost a couple of bigger ones. Thought I had them all figured out after Saturday lol.
  2. Use the wind to your advantage. You will cover alot more water on a drift. Just time it and toss out ahead so your just about to pass over when you hit bottom. I usually run slowly and mark a bunch of fish and then set up a drift on that line. There is plenty of threads on here with much more specific info if you search it.
  3. Good day early, fairly light boat traffic and jiiged Lakers for a couple hours. Got fish of all sizes from 16" up to the low 30's. Picked up a couple guys at 2:30 and went back to jigging without much succes so decided to troll at about 4:00 and had pretty steady action over the next two hours with a mix of Bows and Lakers. Bows all came on small sticks and lakers were a spoon bite down 50-60ft. Danny Wegman was drifting in his Gucci boat right on my contour line so we cut in shallower and hit a spectacular air bound bow right of his stearn. The first two jumps really got their attention followed by a standing ovation when the bow hit the net. Water clarity is still poor and debris was not easy to fish through. Mostly small sticks and weeds but there was some bigger branches as well.
  4. Boat without the Honda kicker, traxs tech and mag 10's I'll let go for 12,250. Still comes with the upgraded Humminbird and I-pilot.
  5. Thanks but I just ordered the 2000 Sport Angler from Lund. Gonna be a long 8 weeks.

  7. Pretty slow day just jigging today. Found lots of fish in shallow (35-50)fow but a tough bite. Lots of chasing even right to the top ten feet of water. Highlite was this 32" 10+ that gave up pretty easy. Water was surprisingly pretty clear but there was lots of sticks and other debris. Stuck pretty much to the west side mid lake.
  8. X2 I use the 8' 3" with convector 20's on my riggers. Makes fighting small fish a little more fun but no problems pulling in big ones either. Not to mention the rods have so much give i'm sure it helps with pulling hooks.
  9. I don't know about Browns but I did a charter Saturday morning with 3ppl that weren't entered and as could be expected our first fish would have been a money fish. We did weigh the big Laker at the North end weigh station so maybe thats part of the rumor??
  10. I'm pretty sure thats an Okuma reel.
  11. Brett, Thats one sweet brown! Did you actually catch that on the spinny/fly??
  12. Bought new last spring and used for the season. Works great. Upgraded to I-pilot so I'll let it go for $80. 585-301-five 9 four 9. This is for the powerdrive V2.
  13. Everyone has their preferances but there are a lot of models that work well depending on how much you want to spend. If you want to spend the money, most units with chirp technology would work great. If you want an ecomical unit you could go with a Humminbird 859. If you get it without DI it would run about 499.00 w/GPS. Really not worth the extra money for DI imo. Most of the compact units putting out 2k peak watts are going to be a lil shy on your jig detail in deep 100+ fow. Minimally you would probably want at least 4k peak watts and more is better. If you get into the Lowrance, the HDS5 is quite a bit of power and will work well. I run Humminbird and have never had a problem marking fish and jigs.
  14. I've had Boat U.S. for several years. Equipment coverage and 500k liability. Cost is $400 per yr plus the membership fee. Never had to file a claim so can't speak to that. Easy installments. This is part of their guide program and covers everything. I searched everywhere and this policy seemed quite simple and this is what they specialize in. I also think my deductibles have been reduced significantly as there has been no claims.
  15. Very sorry for your loss! I have read many of his posts over the last few years and he always had a tremendous passion for the sport.
  16. ERABBIT, Funny you posted that. I took that picture. The guy in the pic was actually the photographer the DEC sent on the boat.
  17. Got out on the water to once again strong south winds and headed about halfway down the lake. Set up jigging on the east side and gave it about an hour and a half with only one short grab to show for it. Decided to switch over to trolling and started heading North with the waves in about 80 fow. Got one rigger down 65 with a sliding cheater, one 6color out off a board and one 7 color down the shoot set up and I was working on the next rigger when the 7 color takes off. I grabbed the rod and handed it to one of the three i had out and boom the sliding cheater is released and takes off. Doubled up on two nice bows. Make it almost up to Pelican and get re set and decide to turn and head back south into the waves. Wind has really picked up now and the waves are cresting right on my nose. Notice a soft strike on the rigger so I pop it and sure enough a 4lb laker comes up but decides to let the hook go right at the net. Get just about back to where we doubled and I notice one of the guys is really lookin green. Decide to turn and start heading back with the waves and as soon as i make the turn the 6color on the inline takes off. Nice 6+ male bow and as soon as he hits the deck the one guy looks at me and says it's time to go!!! Rough ride back up but didn't take him long to recover once we hit the dock almost 2 hours early.
  18. I was out with the DEC a couple years ago while they were netting them. As I recall there were 500 stocked back in the early nineties and the fish that we got in the nets were not sexually mature yet so needless to say that it can't really be predicted yet if there is breeding or a sustainable population. Would be a fun fish to catch there were about 60" back then.
  19. Complete setup. Penn 320 GT2 reel mounted on a Shakespeare tidewater roller tip rod. Rigged and ready to go. Comes with a 28 and 32oz weight plus extra bead chain swivels and quick detach release clips for leaders. Excellent condition.. $ 100. Thats about the price of the reel alone. 585 three 01 594nine. Paul
  20. Hey Mike, I first thought that was your boat till I got close. These next few weeks are my favorite to fish. Mix of Bows and Big lakers on Jigs. One of the females they caught was pretty fat with eggs. Let me know if you want to get out jigging, I hope to possibly get out on my own after this weekend.
  21. Got out at about 7:30 am to a strong unexpected south wind. Had a father/son with me for a half day. I mentioned with the heavy weeds and flees we would probably jig most of the morning and the son said "oh no I'm not any good at jigging". Headed about half way down the lake and tucked in behind long point and started dropping in about 60 fow. Ten minutes in and and he had his first of many lakers on. About fifteen minutes later he was hooked up again with a nice 6lbr. Action slowed a bit and we headed over to Menteeth point and he hooked another laker. So at this point it's Erik with three nice lakers and his father with 0. Wind seemed to die right out so I headed to my favorite place to fish this time of the year. Erik's father said all they needed to do is get a double and they would have the 5 fish they were hoping for and I swear it couldn't have been 3 minutes later and they were doubled up with an 8 and 5lbr. Landed both of those and then things got crazy with non stop action and Erik lands a solid 12+lb laker that was released. A few minutes later his father gets a hit right at the boat and brings in a nice bow on my favorite tube. They did a great job taking pics and I waited for them to post.
