  1. I've seen diagrams of this exact setup, so someone is doing it. The problems I see is that the spoon would not be very far from the wire because of the shallow angle and the stated problem of clearing it if a fish hits the flasher..
  2. Great video! Makes me ache to get back out there. After a few years at this, I'm going to try the LOC Tournament and 1k a day this year. Always had the feeling that the sure way "not to catch a fish" was to "have to catch a fish".
  3. We're all tall good looking giants behind the keyboard. It's the bumps, warts and imperfections that make us real, interesting people.
  4. I suggest we wear name tags and LOU IDs. It would be nice to tie faces to members.
  5. This was my first year also and I'll be back next. What better way to spend a cold winter weekend than with a bunch of fishing nuts talking fishing. Paul did a great job and offered a wealth of knowledge The diverse opinions among the captains was quite interesting. I'll be running more meat this year after listening to Mark. Greg confirmed my observation that spoons will always put the most fish in the boat.
  6. Seems terribly big for a 31' boat. I see guys pushing around 36-38' boats with 15hp.
  7. I've got a serious problem with continuing to target kings in June even if lakers and browns are available. I've got to get past that.
  8. Moderation applies to human population also. The more people, the greater the environmental impact and the leaner existence for all.
  9. Sk8man, Good points and many can, and should, be addressed by Malthusianism. The world is out of balance but no one has the courage to step up about this issue. I fear it will take a collapse to even start the discussion.
  10. And 14,000 years ago Lake Ontario was under a mile high glacier. It's too simple to extrapolate 100 years of meterological data when ignoring long term, poorly understood trends with more variables than we can incorporate into our models. The conclusions are Myopic.
  11. What Tim said. I tend to run the cores on the outside and any coppers inside. If multiple coppers, the longest goes on the inside.
  12. Tim, There is a vested interest in perpetuating this hoax. The really disturbing part is the number of people to which this has become an irrefutable truism.
  13. I'd promise that too if the people who were supposed to fish with me the next day let me know they couldn't make it sooner than 6:00 that evening!
  14. Bobby at FLT is a class act and has delivered late orders to me directly at the lake a couple of times (I was late with the order not him) . He makes a great product and you'll lose the spoons to a fish before the paint ever wears off. I'm hoping he's at the LOTSA show, because I have a lot of buying to do!
  15. Congratulations! That is what it truly means to be blessed!
  16. Here is my buddy's solution to being spooled. Tie it to your rod and throw it overboard.
  17. Trolling for hours without worrying about another boat and having the pod to yourself when you do find them!
  18. I found this one at my back door.
  19. Just saw a post on FB where a mountain lion was shot in Kentucky. They say its the first confirmed in 100 years. It's under investigation whether its a wild animal.
  20. See you there Andy. Save a few for me.
  21. I'll have to admit I'm extremely skeptical. When I moved into my house which abuts hundreds of square miles of woods a local guy said he had thought he had seen a mountain lion but wouldn't swear on a stack of Bibles. He was a retired executive from a local company who made daily walks up the road and around trails through the woods so he was used to seeing bobcats coyotes and the like. He stopped me one day to tell me that he had seen a mountain lion without doubt. He claimed to be a walking up the road to the trails and it was standing about 30 yards in front of him alongside the road. He said he had clear vision of it for quite sometime. That's the single situation that puts a question In my mind.
  22. Ditto on the Fishers. Most people have never seen one and don't even know what they are. They have long tails and are dark/black. They are what I believe people are seeing when they see a black "cougar".
  23. What state? The PA Game Commission states that there "are no breeding pairs" but won't confirm their presence. They claim some exotic pets could have been let go by the owners. I know dozens of people who claim to have seen them in PA but I'm skeptical because there are trail cams about every 200 yards in this state and I've yet to see a picture. I've seen huge bobcats that could have easily been confused for a lion if you didn't see the tail.
