  1. Fished 7am till 10:30. 80’ to 150’. 1 for 3 with nice steelhead on 42nd spoon down 50’ over 90’. Slowest day I have had all year. Maybe try again tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. I went out if Braddock’s this past Sunday. Was less than 5 feet deep all the way from the state/county launch to the lake. I could be mistaken but wasn’t the channel supposed to be complete by now? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. I agree. Plus it took me forever to get from launch to lake since I was nervous with such low depths all the way out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Wanted to sleep in but my son insisted we go. Went out of Braddocks for 1st time this year. 3-4’ deep in channel and $12 to launch. We fished 100-150 and went 4-8. Stayed away from the crowd. Mostly dipsey bite but did have 2 on 42nd spoon on rigger down 60’. Biggest was on dipsey/SD/Fly at 180 on a 2 setting. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Figured I would try my 1st nite trip. Grabbed 2 guys from the fire Dept and one of the guys 10 year old son. We fished 5:30 till 8:30 in 150 - 250. Marked some fish and bait here and there. No down speed or temp. Went 4-6 all kings and nothing big. All fish were either on dipsey/SD/Fly at 225 or down rigger 105 with SD/Fly. No hits on spoons. Buddy’s son was happy so it was a good night. Not one boat insight. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. I switched to Addya also after having 1 treble bend, and 1 break. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Nice job Ken, I think you launched right after us. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. Thanks for advice to stay shallower. All fish 100-150 FOW. Fleas much better.5-7 with 3 kings, 1 Steele and 1 laker. Dipseys at 150 and 170. Riggers 65,60, 55, 50. Dipsey/SD/Fly always my top producer. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Thanks JakeyBaby. We stayed around 120 ft and fleas were much better this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. Thanks for the info guys. I have an 18 foot boat so 500 kind of scares me. I normally fish the mornings but was bored at work today so I decided to take rest of the day off and take my son. I don’t have a fish hawk so I never really know if I am in right temp, speed or depth. That will be my big expense next year. That doesn’t bother me as much as the fleas. 30lb big game loaded with them. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. Took son out for a lunch time troll. Only fish was small king on dipsey set 180 with SD/Fly in 225 fow. Fished 12-4 in 150 to 275 fow. Marked a few fish. Fleas were so bad I had to hand reel in one of my lines. Was going to go out in morning but don’t know if it is worth it with fleas so bad. Some one posted 100 fow off genny had no fleas. Could that short of a location make a difference with fleas? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. I catch 90% of my salmon on wire dipsey with spin doctor and fly. Maybe I am not fishing my spoons or riggers correctly but wire is my #1 set up. I have Diawa heartland rods with Diawa line counter reels spooled with wire. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. Took my youngest and dad out of Sandy today. Only had 2 rods in the water when 1st fish hit the dipsey. Boated that king and while I was letting that rod slowly creep back to 210 it fires again. So 2 kings and still only 2 rods in water. Eventually got all 6 rods set. We went 4 for 5 and my son got to fight 3 and my dad 2. Worked 100’ early and eventually out to 240’ then called it quits before the rain came. This was my son’s 1st trip and is now hooked. 4 fish on wire set at 210 Dipsey/SD/fly and 1 on Spoon of rigger. No down temp or speed. Headed west from Sandy. 14. Yes after 2 years of missing out on fishing it was great to be back out and fighting a fish is better than washing my gear. I just to need to buy a new FF and Fish hawk so I can increase my knowledge. Good luck out there.
  15. Took my dad out fishing for fathers day. 1st trip with boat in over 2 years so we decided to try Sandy instead of Braddock's. Ran a 6 rod spread with 2 wire dipsey's, and 4 spoons stacked on 2 riggers. 1st fish was on wire. Lost that one. 2nd fish was same rod, and my dad landed that one. Switched my port rigger to SD/Fly after 2 fish on SD/Fly. That port rigger set at 80 with SD/Fly hits and I lose that one. As I am resetting that rod the other rigger set at 96 fires and line starts screaming. After a few runs I get the fish to about 30 yards behind the boat, and the fish surfaces and kind of rolls and hook comes out. We get one more fish around 10:45am on same dipsey set up as before but my dad ended up losing that one. So we went 1 for 5 which is kind of rare. We are not experts but have never had so many fish come unbuttoned. 3 fish on Chrome dispey 2.5 setting, Mt Dew SD, and hammer fly line counter of 150 and all on port side. 1 fish on rigger set at 80 with white crush SD and hammer fly. Biggest fish was on rigger 96 down Die Hard spoon. I don't have down speed or temp probe. All fish in 150-170'. Saving up for a Fish Hawk and newer fish finder.
  16. I am looking for suggestions for new boat battery. I have a 60hp outboard, radio, and fish finder hooked up along with switches for lights and sump pump. Do I go with another marine starting battery? A deep cycle battery, or a AGM battery? Do I hook everything up to one battery or have motor on one battery and radio/fish finder on another? Right now I have everything on a Die Hard Marine Battery Thanks for your help!
  17. Was a little nervous with the weather reports but lake was better than I thought. I took 2 guys out from the fire department and we launched at 7am. This day would turn out to be costly and painful, but priceless when fishing with your friends. We headed out to 85' and set up on a west troll. Ran 2 wires with Dipsey/SD/Fly and 4 spoons on the riggers. About 15 minutes in the 210 wire fires (clear dipsey 2.5 setting, white double crush glow SD, hammer fly) with a decent fish, lost it after a short battle. Skippy king later on, which ended up being a painful fish. 120fow, 80 rigger, DW Blue Dolphin. This fish ended up tangling with the other line stacked on that rigger. After getting the fish in the boat and trying to remove both lures, we caught a nice wave and fish decided it wanted to thrash at the same time. I ended up with the treble hook embeddd in my hand. I threw that fish back and as we were discussing how to remove the hook the other rigger fires. 76' rigger, white double crush glow SD and hammer fly 135fow. As he was bringing the line in I noticed something was wrong. This line was tangled with the wire. By the time I got the wire untangled it felt like the fish was gone. I had a mess on the rigger line and had to cut it. As he was pulling the line in by hand he tells me "I think the fish is still on". Good thing it didn't fight anymore. We landed that fish and had some laughs all while having a spoon still connected to my hand. I cut the treble part of the hook and removed the hook. His wife wanted dinner so we kept that fish (smaller one in pic). I get all the lines reset and I as I am tieing a new wire line knot the same 76' rigger combo fires again and starts striping line 150fow . Finally it is my turn. I get the fish to the boat and my buddy nets the fish. Instead of pulling it up straight vertically he tried lifting it up horizontaly. Snap goes the net and thankful we were still able to get the fish in the boat. No more hits and we headed in around 11am. So after breaking a net, dealing with a few tangles and embedding a treble hook in my hand, it was still pricless when fishing with friends. We had lots of laughs and I got a text later that night saying how good the salmon was for dinner. Rick
  18. I always enjoy reading your reports and your helpful information. You have helped many of us catch more fish. Thanks!
  19. Took a friend out for his first time trolling. Went 4 for 5. 3 lakers and 1 skippy king. 1 laker on Mt dew SD/hammer fly on 75 rigger. 2 lakers, skippy king and 1 lost on 225' wire, black dipsey, black SD with white tape and green dots, white fly. All fish around 100 to 150 fow. Don't have down and temp probe. No hits on spoons. Just happy to catch something.
  20. I was out there with you Friday morning at Braddocks, I had a girl from Georgia that wanted to try salmon fishing. We had 3 releases with no luck, all on spoons. I was also amazed on how much bait we marked and the lack of nets moving. We headed in around 10:30. Good Luck, Rick
