We got our season started last night!

My son had been asking all summer when doe season opens. Well today was the day for us to get into the stand for the first time together this season. The weather was warm, the mosquitos were terrible, a lone doe read the script, my son was pumped. What more could you ask for lol. The second buck tag and a new doe tag were added to the app when I submitted my tag. Looking forward to another great season in the woods.

Went out with my son yesterday evening to do one final troll to make sure everything was working as it should before we put the boat up for sale. Went to pull out the fish hawk and found that the cap was cracked 🤦🏼‍♂️. No trolling last night. Brought the jigging rods incase I came across a good king screen. So just decided to drift and fish to marks. Fished about two hours before the NE started to get unpleasant. Hooked 3 kings and missed a hit. Only brought one into the boat. My son loved fighting them though! Looks like the jig bite is still alive and well out there.

I know most of you are used to seeing me out chasing on the big lake, but that hasn’t been the case for me this year. As the kids get older, the free time has slowly dwindled. Saying that, I haven’t even had the boat out this year (Outside dropping it in one day this past weekend to replace the trailer bunks. We did take a few casts before we got it back on the trailer 😁). We have decided to sell it, and will likely get something new a few years down the road. It’s just a season, but will still be missed. We have still been out on a few shore missions, one time out with Isaac chasing musky, and a bonus shark on an anniversary trip with the wife lol. It’s been a busy summer! Bring on fall. I understand that. Obviously no one ever wants a situation like that to happen. I had an older guy that actually used to cut my deer up, he slipped on a dock and fell and broke his neck. Very unfortunate situation. He didn’t blame the state though for the dock being slippery. No one has to launch at sandy if they aren’t comfortable and don’t feel safe launching at sandy. You could go to bald eagle, braddocks, the genny. Again, no one wants to see anyone get hurt. But guys have been launching there all spring/summer without incident and in years past under the same scenario without incident. It’s really not that bad. Half the year we walk on ice around here. 10 feet of slippery dock is not unmanageable. Do I agree it could be fixed, yes of course. But I also don’t think it should have been closed down

I mean, it’s not the first time the water has been high or that the docks have been under water over there. Why are so called “sportsmen” complaining about walking over 10 to 15 feet of slippery dock? We are all adults and all know how to be careful. Even if I were to fall, it would be no one’s fault other than my own…..and I’m not coming after the state even if I did get hurt. Unfortunately not everyone would handle things that way, and it’s sad honestly. A lot of people have launched out of sandy all year and have been fine. Very unfortunate really.
