Congrats a great buck for sure! Can't wait for the 15th to be over so I can get a chance a a buck!

The DEC took the time from US guys that sit from Day 1 till the last 10 mins of season for ONE true deer of a life time period! This rule only hurts US that want to kill what they consider a trophy period. The 1st two weeks when bucks are most predictable by far and the last 2 weeks when they are most vulnerable by far ( which is when for the most part the guys who are looking for that big one are still hanging in a tree). Do as wish as a hunter by all means, but this rule has only hurt the meat hunter that also enjoy the bone!

I'm not arguing at alll. I'm just saying for me myself the gun season I much to long. Most states that hold big bucks have very short gun seasons. Like days and and not weeks. But this is only me being someone who wants to shoot big deer. It may not even be the length of season that bothers me it's the timing of it, dead in the middle of rut. ALOT of younger bucks get killed at that time. Kill them with whatever weapon of your choice and enjoy everyone of them. I just love Whitetail hunting!

How would sacrificing by not going be for the greater good though Dan? How is you or anyone that says " nope I'm not going till the 15th" going to do to change there minds? They dont care about the hunter lets be honest, they already have our money for the licence and dollers are all this state cares about! They say that doe numbers are high thats why we can't shoot the bucks? Well they are not going have an excuse when you go and take as many doe's as you can?

I Will be out to night and I am going to wack the 1st respectable doe that walks by! Temps are low so you don't have to worry about rushing to get out of the woods and hung/ skinned. I will be hunting one of my "non buck" stands. This is why I love having fill in spots because at least it puts me in the woods till the 15th and gets me in tune for when mr. Big walks by. P.S. I am totally against what this state has taken away from us! But I will be damnd if they are going to keeping from doing what I love to do over some B S laws they decided to throw at us! Get in the woods shoot some does and get your confidence up.

I think I was just late to getting them in. I Fertilized before tilling, rolled the fields, spread the seed and then rolled again. I planted late so I had late season food. Hopefully they will keep growing! Lots of time and money

Ray..... when did you put to your Turnips in the ground? I planted about 2.5 - 3 acres of them and they are no where near that hight. Iast I checked a week ago. I'm surprised how many deer you have hitting them already. Usually they don't like them till we get a frost and they Sweetin up.

3 Heads is a Rochester brewing company and is great stuff the "Rochestafarian" is my favorite. Great Lakes " Burning River" is also at the top of my list! Other then that Miller Light is an all day kinda beer! " Can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning"!

With a 6 yr old and a baby at home made it tough to fish as much as I would like! Hopefully next year things will be settled down.

Lots of snacks and drinks are key to keeping him there!! Lol plus I did bring some pellets with us and an old decoy for him to shoot while we were waiting.....

Decided to hit a field last night for a few hours in the extreme heat! I told my 6 year old son that if he had a good first day of school I would let him come with us for his first Goose hunt. To say he was extatic would be an understatement. When I picked him up from school the 1st thing he asked was if he could still go. We rushed home got all are stuff together and off to the field we whent. It was very hot carrying everything 300 yrds across the field, but he never complained once. Helped set the decoys and camo his blind like a pro. I even let him bring his pellet gun (unloaded obviously) and a call so he didn't feel left out from the rest of us. We only managed to kill one Goose, but had a bunch of ducks work our spread here and there and had a bachelor group of 4 bucks come out and check us out a few different times. All that made it plenty of fun for all of us, with out even shooting our guns except for the one lone goose that set right in the decoys and got rolled! I can't wait to get him out there again, so much fun just watching the way a kid reacts for the first time in the field! Do your self a favor and take a kid hunting and fishing!
