  1. It wasn't open last Tuesday. Not sure what it's like now. Very shallow in the channel before it iced over.
  2. I have a 20' Robalo center console and I troll with 2 bags and they work great. You can call Amish Outfitters and tell them what you have and they'll recommend the right size for you (1-800-473-1748). I tried a spring loaded trolling plate and it worked fine for a while. Then I was trying to control my boat when docking on a windy day and had to give it some gas in reverse. The plate got sucked in and damaged my prop and ripped a chunk out of my cavitation plate (and the trolling plate went to the bottom of the lake). That's when I decided it was bags or a kicker! Obviously, bags are much cheaper. I also agree with Justin, I had a pontoon set up for trolling for a lot of years and it was a great setup. I just wanted to try something different. I may go back to the pontoon at some point.
  3. Well, it was a nice warm day for the tournament, but the south winds were up and the fishing was tough. I'm sure that it might have been difficult to fish you're favorite spots, but several teams hung in there and did pretty well. In 1st place was Team Kevin Oliver with 4.27 lb and also the largest perch at 1.135 lbs. Second place went to the Brian Richardson team at 3.90 lbs, 3rd place was the Don Huberth team at 3.62 lbs, and 4th place went to the Jeremy McGregor team with 3.41 lbs. Thanks to all who participated and came to the weigh in for pizza, wings, and refreshments and the good old fishing stories. Always great to see the familiar faces and say hello after we missed the spring tourney. See you all in spring 2021!! Ted
  4. Website is up and running for entries. Click on 'Other' tab and then 'Perch Tournament'. Rules are there and option to sign up online. Long range weather forecast looks pretty good.
  5. We have decided that it's time to get out there and have some fun. The Seager Marine Fall Perch Tournament will be held on Canandaigua Lake this year on Saturday, October 10, 2020. Same price, same rules, same payouts and plaques, and same fun weigh-in! We'll just need to be careful and wear some masks at weigh-in and keep our social distance. I think you'll really be impressed by the new look of our pier location. Need to pre-register by 5:00PM on Friday, October 9th. Entry fee is $40 per team (1 - 3 persons), weigh-in 5 live perch for total weight. Fishing hours are 7:00am to 3:00pm, weigh-in at 3:30pm. We'll have reg forms and rules up on our website soon. Just wanted everyone to save the date.

OK thanks. I'll probably head to Bristol Harbor and south.

I assume you stayed down south? I was up north and it was very quiet (fishing wise!). I have a friend coming in from out of town to fish this week so I guess I better make the run south. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

Thanks Dan. Good ole Sutton 88 huh? I would think that they would be spinning at that speed, but maybe currents have something to do with it. I plan to go out Saturday and see if I can find a few. Thanks for the comeback and info. Much appreciated.
  9. Very nice Les! I’ll be out Saturday. Hope to do as well. Just trying to figure out what to run. Riggers, leadcore, dipsy’s? Guess I’ll have to try all. Then where to go. So many decisions. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

  13. Well - we really hoped we could pull this off, but with all that is going on these crazy days, we decided that it's best to cancel the Seager Marine Spring Perch tournament that was scheduled for 4/18/20. Hopefully things will get back close to normal and we'll be ready to rock and roll in the fall. Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and catching lots of fish! Hope to see some of you 'social distancing' out on the water! Ted
  14. DON'T GIVE UP! We still plan to hold this perch tournament. We are trying to figure out a way to do it kind of virtually. The plan that we're discussing is to go by total length of 5 fish, instead of weight. I know this is not the norm for a perch tourney, but it keeps us all away from each other at a weigh in. We would all have to be on our best behavior and keep it honest. You would all send pictures of your fish on a bump board or ruler. Then we would mail out prizes/plaques. Unfortunately, we would lose the camaraderie and story-telling (not to mention the refreshments), but perhaps we could put something together for you guys to take out with you in the morning. This would require that all boats head out of the north launch at Canandaigua and we'd meet for a second prior to starting so we could hand out goodies/maybe rulers/cable ties. Still a work in progress, but we're trying to find a way to make it work so everyone can still get out there and have a little fun and competition. The lake is about the best place to be these days! Let me know if anyone has any ideas that might help this to run smoothly. Thanks, Ted
  15. Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow so spring will be here before you know it!! We're holding our annual Seager Marine spring perch tournament on Saturday, April 18, 2020. Same as last year - team of 1 to 3, $40 entry, and full payback. You can sign up right from our website if you'd like (www.seagermarine.com). This should be set up in the next few days. You can also stop in at 21 Parrish St anytime (Monday - Saturday). The pier building is undergoing renovations, but we'll still hold the weigh-in at that location. Hope to see you all again soon. Refreshments and lively chatter as always at the weigh-in!
  16. We had 7 teams tough it out on a cold and wet Saturday. All teams hung in there for the full day and weighed in their 5 fish over the pizza and wings. First place went to McGregor team with 4.41#, second to LaMagna team with 4.16#, third to Allen team with 3.71#, and fourth to Rogers team with 3.65#. Largest perch was 1.15# in the McGregor bag. Thanks to all who signed up and we'll see you in the spring!
  17. That's an awesome bow! North end? Any other details? I was out for a quick troll yesterday near the pump house and found a laker and a bass. I hope to get out again this Saturday if I can skip out of work at Seagers!
  18. Yes - it's that time of year again! The Seager Marine Fall Perch Tournament will be held on Canandaigua Lake this year on Saturday, October 12, 2019. Same price, same rules, same payouts and plaques, and same fun weigh-in! Need to pre-register by 5;00PM on Friday, October 11th. Entry fee is $40 per team (1 - 3 persons), weigh-in 5 live perch for total weight. Fishing hours are 7:00am to 3:00pm, weigh-in at 3:30pm. We'll have reg forms and rules up on our website soon.
  19. It was great weather (a bit breezy) and we had a great crowd for the perch tournament. Some nice fish were weighed in, with similar bags as last year at this time. Results were as follows: 4th place, LaMagna team (6.46#), 3rd place, Bianchi team (6.48#), 2nd place, Gotshall team (6.85#, and 1st place, Thompson team (6.91#). Biggest fish weighed in was 1.79# by the Hoefen team. Thanks to all the participants, have a great summer, and we'll see you in October!
  20. It's shaping up to be a record-breaking crowd for this year's perch tournament. Maybe the nice weather prediction has something to do with it?? Looking forward to seeing everyone at weigh-in. There are plenty of open docks if you'd like to come in by boat. Remember to follow the pier in and come between the pier and rock breakwall. Don't try to go to the east of the rock breakwall. Must be in line to weigh in by 3:30pm.
  21. Spring will be here before you know it!! We're holding our annual spring perch tournament on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Same as last year - team of 1 to 3, $40 entry, and full payback. You can sign up right from our website if you'd like (www.seagermarine.com). You can also stop in at the pier anytime (Monday - Saturday). Hope to see you all again soon. 22. Well, the weather could have been better and the fishing could have been better, but 10 teams gave it a shot. First place went to the Jim DeSienna team with 5.1#, second went to the Ted Decker team with 3.69#, third went to the Jason LaMagna team with 3.42#, and fourth went to the Don Hubert team with 3.39#. The largest perch weighed in was 1.295# caught by Melissa from the LaMagna team. It was great to see everyone and it was nice to see the friendly bantering and camaraderie of all the teams. Weigh-in is always a fun time with food, refreshments, and fish stories. Thanks to all who joined us and congrats to the winners. Be safe over the winter and we'll see you all in April.
  23. Time is running out, so hop on the Seager Marine website and get signed up for the Perch Tournament. You can always stop in and see us as well. Sounds like it's going to cool down a bit, but hat might just turn the bite on. Hope to see the whole gang at weigh-in!
  24. Yes - it's that time of year again! The Seager Marine Fall Perch Tournament will be held on Canandaigua Lake this year on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Same price, same rules, same payouts and plaques, and same fun weigh-in! Need to pre-register by 5;00PM on Friday, October 12th. Entry fee is $40 per team (1 - 3 persons), weigh-in 5 live perch for total weight. Fishing hours are 7:00am to 3:00pm, weigh-in at 3:30pm. We'll have reg forms and rules up on our website soon - also attached to this message. See you all then! Perch Registration Fall 2018.pdf Perch Rules Fall 2018.pdf
  25. Quick Summary: 1st Place - Bianchi Team (6.55#), 2nd Place - Paul Schweigert Team (6.37#), 3rd Place - Marty Yu Team (6.26#), and 4th Place - Jeremy Kierst Team (5.81#). Biggest perch was caught by Marty Yu team and was a whopping 2.1#. Not bad for Canandaigua Lake! It was a very cool one out there, but all the teams endured and came in to warm up and have some refreshments at weigh-in. It could have been worse (or better!). Thanks to all participants and look forward to the Fall tournament. The Seager Marine Team
