  1. Lake is clear of ice. Just need to watch for debris. Lots of boats out there today. Time to sign up for the perch tournament to be held on April 25th!!
  2. Great topic Les. It's amazing how few folks do this. I started in the program last year. I also just posted the NYSDEC info from their fishing hotline on our Seager Marine Blog. I think the numbers will go up this year which will help us all in the end! Thanks!

  4. Safe travels, Les. Hopefully ice will be out by the time you get back. Stop in to the marina when you get back. I'm sure you saw - Seager Perch Tourney on April 25th.
  5. The annual Seager Marine Perch Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2015. This will be a team tournament (1 - 3 person) this year. Details to follow.

  7. Please don't discard your waste fishing line in the lakes. This is what can happen! Pulled this out of the water at Seager Marine today. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. It was a great sunny day, Les. You took advantage of it and stuck it out. Nice catch!
  9. LUND uses a SportTrak system and down riggers can be easily mounted to the gunnel without drilling. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. Guppy35 - I prefer LUND over Tracker. There are several reasons for this. There is a continuing debate over welding vs rivets. Welding (Tracker) distresses the material and can result in cracks. LUND uses hand driven rivets through double thickness of aluminum. LUND's Integrated Power Strake hull design helps with boat control and stability. There are other reasons that I can go over with you down the road as you get into your research phase. As far as LUND pricing, I would compare the Tracker Targa to a LUND Impact 1775. You can get an Impact 1775 with a 115hp motor for under $26K.
  11. Just suggest you consider LUND for new boat. Worth checking out. Merc and Honda make good kickers as well. Plenty to see at Seager Marine or check them out at Rochester boat show coming up at the end of the month.
  12. Glad to see you're still getting out Les! Nice fish. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Agree with zackblain. The way it's stated in the NYSDEC Regs is: 'Boats are allowed, but a mechanically propelled vessel must be less than 17 feet in length, and operating motors must be 10 HP or less."
  14. If you're in the Canandaigua area, Seager Marine has several LUND's to look at. Some of them are shown on their website (Seagermarine.com). There are some 2014's with some good prices.
  15. I also got out for a couple hours late this afternoon on Canandaigua. Stayed north near the pump house and only managed to find one laker about 3#, very long and skinny but quite feisty. He came on a Blade Runner 22 down 50 over 60 fow. I only ran riggers with a variety of FLT, Suttons, and Blade Runners. As Les said, beautiful day on the water. Our days are numbered!!

    Canandaigua 10/1 & 10/2

Canandaigua was rolling pretty good today with the consistent 25+ mph SSE winds. Very quiet at the marina! I'm sure all the lakes were the same. Things don't sound as bad for tomorrow afternoon (west winds 9 - 15) and Sunday (southwest 11-15). If you're not aware, there is a Weatherbug station at Seager Marine (it's listed as the Finger Lakes Visitors Connection) that can provide up to the minute conditions for the lake. Good luck with your scouting, Jason. I'll be working at Seager's tomorrow if you happen to make it up to the north end of the lake. Again - welcome to the FLTA group, have fun, and I hope you have a safe and 'fish full' tournament!! Ted

    Canandaigua 10/1 & 10/2

Canandaigua has been tough this summer, Mike. I wouldn't give up on it yet though. Things are a little late this year so mid to later October and early November could be good. Wednesday was one beautiful afternoon on the lake though!

    Canandaigua 10/1 & 10/2

Got out for a couple hours each day, late afternoon. Fish weren't biting, but the good news is that the fleas and grass were not bad. Fleas that I did get were the lighter colored variety that could be flicked easily. I marked pretty good with bait and fish, mostly at the 60 foot depth over 60 to 100 fow. Fished from the pump house down to Tichenor and a little farther south, mostly west side. Good marks right off the point at Tichenor. Not sure what the approaching cold front and winds will do for the weekend fishing. Hopefully things will settle down for the FLTA group on Sunday. Good luck to all! Reminder - the Seager Marine Tournament on Saturday (10/4) has been canceled.
  19. Hi Les. I was out yesterday and today and the fleas and grass weren't bad at all. The fish were there but they sure didn't like anything I had to offer. I think it's just a matter of time. Art and I plan to discuss a reschedule tomorrow. I like this time of year on the lake as well - but same as you, I don't hunt anymore. I'll keep things posted here. Have a safe trip! Ted
  20. Sorry - but the Seager Marine Fall Fishing Tournament has been canceled. There were very few entries received and Saturday's weather doesn't look promising for same-day sign-ups. Good luck to those fishing the FLTA tournament on Sunday!

    Canandaigua 9/24 & 9/25

One more thing on the tournament - you can stop in the marina to register if you're in the area or you can call in your information and provide a credit card number.

    Canandaigua 9/24 & 9/25

Nice summary Jason. Just one correction - all occupants of a boat must be registered. Rule #2 states this. This helps all the registrants as it builds the prize money which is returned to the winners. Hopefully it'll be as nice as this weekend!!

    Canandaigua 9/24 & 9/25

I guess jigging could be a good option, Les. Have a safe trip out west and good luck on the tuna if you get out. I sure hope the fishing will be good here when you get back too! Be safe!

    Canandaigua 9/24 & 9/25

Got out for a couple hours each day. Started in front of the pump house on Wednesday and had a clean screen so we picked up and headed right to Tichenor. Marked some good fish right off the point in 60-70 fow near the bottom. Just kept at them and finally got a 20'' laker to hit on a Yozuri stick bait. That was all we could do. Didn't have much time today so I stayed right near the pump house. There were some good bait pods and a few fish in that 60 foot range in 60 - 80 fow but they had lock jaw. Fleas are still pretty bad. Surface temp is at 66. Hoping that cooler nights will bring that down and clear the fleas as well. I should get out again next week so I can let folks know what's happening so they can get ready for the Seager Marine tournament on Oct 4th!
