    Canandaigua Canandaigua 7/6

Got out for a few hours today. Fished north end, east side from drop off to Pelican and stayed between 80' and 100' contours. Found 1 8.5# rainbow down 68' over 100 fow. Only used riggers and had no problem with weeds or fleas. Marked several bait pods down about 50'. Traffic picked up by noon so I quit.
  2. Nice Paul. Looks like things are going well. You've worked for them for sure!
  3. Good to see you out there Les. I was only out for a couple hours (4 - 6) and only had the one laker that spit the hook back at me right at the boat. Looked to be a good 5+. He was just north of German Brothers down 60 over 100 and grabbed a FLT Bob Barker. Looks like things are settling down a little now and hopefully we'll get some consistency.

    Canandaigua 6/20 Canandaigua

Great Job, Paul. Thanks for the info. I hope to get back on the water tomorrow.
  5. Thanks for the info Les. I hope to get out soon. Getting the boat ready with a new Humminbird. Can't wait to get started! Been pretty busy at the marina.
  6. That's a day you won't forget! Great job!
  7. It was a great day for the annual Seager Marine Spring Perch Tournament. The perch were a bit stubborn but everyone managed to do well in the end. First place was taken by the Jeremy Kierst team with 6.34# for 5 fish. Second place was 4.3# by the Steve Wright team, third was 4.00# by the Jason LaMagna team, and fourth was 3.85# by the Dave Booth team. It was a fun time with refreshments at the weigh-in as everyone told their fish stories! Can't wait till next year.
  8. Weather looks good for Saturday. Should be a fun time going after those big perch for the tournament. Stop in at Seager Marine tomorrow (Friday) between 9 and 5 or come early on Saturday 6:00 - 6:30am. Details in post above.
  9. Lake is clear of ice. Just need to watch for debris. Lots of boats out there today. Time to sign up for the perch tournament to be held on April 25th!!
  10. Great topic Les. It's amazing how few folks do this. I started in the program last year. I also just posted the NYSDEC info from their fishing hotline on our Seager Marine Blog. I think the numbers will go up this year which will help us all in the end! Thanks!

  12. Safe travels, Les. Hopefully ice will be out by the time you get back. Stop in to the marina when you get back. I'm sure you saw - Seager Perch Tourney on April 25th.
  13. The annual Seager Marine Perch Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2015. This will be a team tournament (1 - 3 person) this year. Details to follow.

  15. Please don't discard your waste fishing line in the lakes. This is what can happen! Pulled this out of the water at Seager Marine today. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. It was a great sunny day, Les. You took advantage of it and stuck it out. Nice catch!
  17. LUND uses a SportTrak system and down riggers can be easily mounted to the gunnel without drilling. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. Guppy35 - I prefer LUND over Tracker. There are several reasons for this. There is a continuing debate over welding vs rivets. Welding (Tracker) distresses the material and can result in cracks. LUND uses hand driven rivets through double thickness of aluminum. LUND's Integrated Power Strake hull design helps with boat control and stability. There are other reasons that I can go over with you down the road as you get into your research phase. As far as LUND pricing, I would compare the Tracker Targa to a LUND Impact 1775. You can get an Impact 1775 with a 115hp motor for under $26K.
  19. Just suggest you consider LUND for new boat. Worth checking out. Merc and Honda make good kickers as well. Plenty to see at Seager Marine or check them out at Rochester boat show coming up at the end of the month.
  20. Glad to see you're still getting out Les! Nice fish. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Agree with zackblain. The way it's stated in the NYSDEC Regs is: 'Boats are allowed, but a mechanically propelled vessel must be less than 17 feet in length, and operating motors must be 10 HP or less."
  22. If you're in the Canandaigua area, Seager Marine has several LUND's to look at. Some of them are shown on their website (Seagermarine.com). There are some 2014's with some good prices.
  23. I also got out for a couple hours late this afternoon on Canandaigua. Stayed north near the pump house and only managed to find one laker about 3#, very long and skinny but quite feisty. He came on a Blade Runner 22 down 50 over 60 fow. I only ran riggers with a variety of FLT, Suttons, and Blade Runners. As Les said, beautiful day on the water. Our days are numbered!!

    Canandaigua 10/1 & 10/2

Canandaigua was rolling pretty good today with the consistent 25+ mph SSE winds. Very quiet at the marina! I'm sure all the lakes were the same. Things don't sound as bad for tomorrow afternoon (west winds 9 - 15) and Sunday (southwest 11-15). If you're not aware, there is a Weatherbug station at Seager Marine (it's listed as the Finger Lakes Visitors Connection) that can provide up to the minute conditions for the lake. Good luck with your scouting, Jason. I'll be working at Seager's tomorrow if you happen to make it up to the north end of the lake. Again - welcome to the FLTA group, have fun, and I hope you have a safe and 'fish full' tournament!! Ted
