  1. I also have a rigger/ rodholder question. I have 2 riggers off the side 90 deg. to the boat. On each boom I have mounted cannon double rod holders. From time to time I have trouble with the two lines tangling. I know that running a slider on the deeper rod would tend to catch the other one, but what would be causing the 2 main lines to tangle? They are always set a minimum of 10 vertical feet apart. Any help is always appreciated. Screamin' Reels, DJ
  2. Jolly, This may be a dumb question, but I will ask anyway. When you filet them on the boat do you have to leave the skin on so they can be identified? I thought I read somewhere you couldn't filet them totally. Even had a warden on Erie a couple years ago ask me out on the water if we had caught any walleyes and if they were fileted or not? Thx, DJ
  3. I will check it out. Thanks, J
  4. So it sounds like it is worth getting the books and DVDs to cover all your bases. Thanks Mort. Screamin' Reels, DJ
  5. I am looking for a good walleye trolling book for an xmas present. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated. THX, DJ
  6. I am looking at Capt. Keatings books/DVDs for xmas presents. Can anyone tell me if the info on the DVDs is the same as the books or is it different? Any help is appreciated. Screamin' Reels, DJ
  7. I have owned numerous electric knives, and I am sick of the cheapos that just heat up and burnout. Anyone have a knife they would recommend? I use it for trout and panfish. I would think a salmon would beat it up in a hurry.
  8. WHats the beam on your boat? 17 feet
  9. I was just wondering if anyone had gotten into a good FLX perch bite? I hate missing time in the tree but would do it if the perch were hungry! Screamin' Reels, DJ
  10. Does anyone know of any dates and places for flea markets or shows this fall/ winter to prurchase new/ used gear? Any info would be appreciated. Screamin' Reels, DJ
  11. Whatever Dipsy set-up you choose, make sure you go with wire. You will really enjoy fighting a fish on the wire and you won't have to worry about the "lovely" fleas!
  12. I have an Arctic Shield suit. Jacket/Bibs. It is very affordable and is the warmest suit I have ever owned. Picked mine up at Bass Pro in Auburn. Not my favorite store to say the least, but in this case it was a great deal. I use it for Ice fishing and in the boat during the winter. Cuts the wind very well, and I don't even think about wearing it while I am walking out on the ice. You would be sweating within 100 yds.

    Second Anchor

Kchamp That is the design I use. Mine is 30# which is a bear to pull up, but I can USUALLY get away with less rope out, and still hold. DJ

    Second Anchor

I have an 18 ft Alumacraft Dominator and use a 30# 3 petal anchor, with about 4 ft of chain. This seems to work real well unless like you say it "gets hairy". But that usually ends the enjoyment of fishing so I head in. 2-1 usually works pretty well for me but I do most of my fishing on the finger lakes so I don't have the Erie waves to deal with. I also have a secondary 12# anchor but rarely use it. The 30# is a bear to haul in from deep water a bunch of times a day, but it seems to hold. Hope this helps. DJ

On mainly a NK 28 NBK and Green/Glow spinny w/ MTn Dew fly and White glow/green holo paddle w a mirage fly. Fished from 65-95 down off the riggers and the dipsys. Have the fish moved in anymore or are they still in that same general vicinity? Any info is greatly appreciated. Screamin' Reels, DJ

We ended up with 4 kings in the teens and he landed the last one of the day which was about 28# ( my scale stinks so I am not 100% sure), it was 41" long. Beautiful fish. The 2 browns were about 5 lbs, we released one of them while dad was fighting a king on the dipsy. Every fish except one king came on an NK 28 NBK. The other king hit a green/glow SD w Mtn Dew fly on the dipsy out 275(missed one rip on here as well). 85 and 90 ft rigger did the rest of the damage save one other king on the 325 dipsy pulling an NBK. Couldn't have asked for a better morning with my Dad, especially since he has had big trouble with sea sickness in the past, but no worries today, just smiles!! Gotta love drag rippin' kings! The screen was empty all afternoon. The brown was a shaker, and the coho came in so limp on the dipsy we thought it was a lake trout until we saw it. Does anyone have info to share about sodus or fair haven? I am new to the fall king game and any hints would be awesome. It was a beautiful day for a boat ride if you weren't trying to catch fish! As always, any info is greatly appreciated. Screamin' Reels, DJ
  19. Ontario is fun at right now! We boated a bunch of steelheads, browns and a couple kings out of sodus yesterday. best luck in 190-225 fow. Screamin' Reels, DJ

  21. I am coming up to one or the other in the morning and was wondering if anyone out today had info they could share? Also, I was launching at the coast guard launch at sodus early in the year. Is it too much of a zoo to launch there now? If so, where is another good launch? As always, any help is appreciated. Screamin Reels, DJ
  22. I just bought one of these as well. It works very well. Just remember that there is a 45 second auto shutoff, so you can't leave it down too long or you get no measurements.
