  1. That trip will be remembered by him for a life time. Thanks for taking a kid fishing, that one laker he is holding looks like it might have been a challenge for him!!! Congrats to the whole crew,,,
  2. WOW. that's awesome!!!!! I see all the room you have nice deck to work with! Again congrats to you
  3. That is my dream boat!! I told my wife if we win the lottery, that last big one, that was one of the things I was going to purchase, every time I watch the show West Coast Angler and those guys have those King Fishers in the 24ft platform I just think wow what a fishing machine, the enclosed helm and lots of space on the deck!!! congrats to you on your purchase!!
  4. I hope your right Fleet, as this year I'm geared up and ready, meaning both the boat and I, I just purchased 4 50 series reels as I have 2 already for leadcore setups, all I have to do is spool them and hope not to many gremlins found a home aboard the 1 Worm over this harsh winter. I also set up 2 outfits with the new slide divers as I'm eager to see how they work, like everyone else its been a long tough winter with 6-9"s of snow in the forecast for Sunday night into Monday morning and more Tues.-Wed. UUGGG I'm sick of it although I made sure I cleaned up close enough to the hitch of the boat that I have the 4 wheels on the blacktop it will come out of the snow one way or another!!! I will see you guys over at Chaumont Bay the first Sat. in May and maybe before fishing for browns. Lonnie told me I could leave my boat at his place (Association Island) till the camp opens. Till then think 50 degrees for the rest of March so its a go come the end of April, I don't fore see any sooner!!!
  5. "Why" that is my twin daughters favorite word, dad why is the sky blue, why does it snow, why this and why that. Because that's the way it is, well why is that, uuggg! Why do you gals always ask why? Because we want to know.
  6. Thanks Zack and Les, I certainly didn't expect a reply at this hour, LOL, but thank you your info definitely gives me an idea as to how far back. I never tried this method as spring Browns is all about being stealthy and I wouldn't expect action that close, most say that it's the silvers that hit in the prop wash. I was talking to a local that has a house on Association Island and he was telling me about the success they had with a orange crush spoon parked in the prop wash. Now I can sleep tonight!!! PAP.
  7. When you say you run your lures or spoons in the "prop wash" approximately how far back are you talking about. Like the distance the water crosses at a cruising speed or where the water boils up under a troll about 20ft. I know you guys say there's no such thing as a stupid question, so I hope this fits the criteria!! Thanks for any feedback. PAP
  8. LOL. Les that's the best answer I heard all day.
  9. WOW!! That's smoking across the water, I went with my brother in his bass boat 70mph!! NEVER AGAIN,. My 22ft cuddy does 32 but 28 seems where everything is working nicely.
  10. I just watched the newest InFisherman show and AL Linder made an interesting comment on this particular show as it was in Canada and they were catching Northerns and they don't use a landing net, he claims that as nasty and mean as they look and fight they are very fragile to handle, and they only gill lifted the fish and removed the hooks and put them back in the water asap, and held their tail till the fish swam off. This was in the spring just after ice out, matter of fact they were in a shallow water bay as the lake water was to cold yet. I have caught many pike on my trips to Canada and never knew that these fish were so delicate. Just to say we all need to learn to be a little more careful with our actions. Like a State cop once told me "ignorance is no excuse for the law young man"
  11. WOW!!! That's an impressive rig, "my dream vessel"
  12. I recently walked into our local bait shop to buy a 2015 fishing licence and noticed these Okuma reels they were big, like 10 color core reels, so I asked Carol how much for these Okuma reels she said what's on the box, I said looks like $69.99 she said I know you need two of them right? I said well I guess, she said take the both and I'll sell them to you for $59.99. I said sold!!! So she was happy and I was happy, then Carol said buy any lures in 5 lots and I'll knock a $1.00 off the price which she's .75 to $1.00 less then Cabelas already, I asked if I could mix them up for a 5 lot and she said as long as you buy 5 at a time I'll stand my word and she has a ton of lures in all different brands!!! How can you beat that!!! I also buy from fat Nancy and B&J bait in Dexter and Henchens he's got a major supply on spoons I think for the reasons charters boats go out of there. I also rent a cabin in early April and he lets me store my boat there till the Black River Camp site opens, that guy who owns Henchens is a good man to me. I like to buy local for the simple reason is the next time you need #1 or #2 pack of duo locks you wont have to get on the phone and wait 2 days till they arrive, anyway that's my thought but I've been known to be wrong sometimes!! LOL.
  13. YEA!!!! That's what I'm talking about way to go Pike Freak!!! awesome fish MAN!!!
  14. By far the most spoon fed info I ever read, specifics with all the details, very good read!!
  15. Defiantly a good trip with enough fish to keep the young guy happy, thanks for taking a kid fishing, ooh ya and the young lady, really enhanced the fish photos. LOL. Your a luck man I've seen her in other big fish pics, she must like to fish also!!!!
  16. YAA buddy that's gets the old blood flowing, those are some great table fare size, thanks for sharing.
  17. Definitely a bitter sweet picture. Nicely done!!
  18. Justgrinning, those are some impressive looking spoons, it's always nice to see the work of a fisherman producing something they know works. Excellent job. Ever think about making some for sale? Or is it just a hobbie? Thanks for sharing your talent. PAP.
  19. I always run two riggers with a stinger spoon 5-8ft down and 75-100ft back sometimes they are the hot rods, also I add 1-2 small split shots 5ft from the spoon to keep them from rideing up to the surface.
  20. No not really, I went from an old Eagle black and white unit to the hdi, and I'm really happy with it, matter of fact it's to good I spend more time watching at the downscan looking at structures and drop offs than fishing, but I guess the newness will wear off, I keep finding other tricks this thing can do every trip out and with the Navionics chip with contours and depth amaze me, then again I'm a simple man it doesn't take much to keep me happy.
  21. Well, we learned that it does not turn your HDI into a chirp unit, another fellow on this site along with me have been trying to find the truth about this download, according to 1 Lowrance rep that I talked to said and showed me the "how to" on one of Cabelas computers, now mind you I'm not a tech, type so he very well could have been blowing smoke up my but, because this was the same rep. that when I purchased my HDI, I asked is there anything in the making for the near future? He tells me not to his knowledge, four months later here comes the chirp and a few months later a chirp 9. I could of chocked that Lowrance rep. Now by a phone call into Lowrance from another friend of mine he was told the software is different and the downloads are only a "BUG" fix. They are misleading the general public buy this download, because people like me would THINK the just upgraded to a chirp when really they only fixed the bugs. I was very disappointed, but it's a bittersweet thing because I got a good deal on my finder and I really liked it before any of this BS. ever started. So that's our story, if anyone finds something different please let us know. If the other guy wants to elaborate on what Lowrance told him and in turn told me, I will let that up to him, but it's still disappointing, and misleading. At least that's my take of it.
  22. Ok, that sounds logical, the bends look very precise!!✌
  23. Yea that's impressively organizations
  24. Now that's one clever idea!!! That's what I call using your head for something other than a hat rack!! Thanks for the pics. May I ask how did you bend the wire or is this some sort of a plumbing hanger, like for plastic pipe support or did you just bend it to fit. Thanks for any info. PAPðŸ‘ðŸ‘
  25. Last night we took our daughters to Olive Garden for there 10th year birthdays, and everyone was ****ing about the cold so I mentioned a 7 day cruise to Hawaii LOL. and I didn't get the old eye roll and you got to be kidding me right look. Maybe??!!!
