Absolutely Unnecessary
Frogger replied to buzzer123's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Always sad to hear about stories like this, rest assured that captain will regrettably yell at someone that maybe wasn't in his best interest to do so. Everyone has at one time turned the wheel and to look up to see a boat that came out of nowhere. I also realize there maybe some less ethical people out there. Sometimes you need to act as an adult and bite your tounge. Buzzer I would put it in the past. Or you can invite your local encon officer out for an enjoyable evening of action. Im sure he would love to go out. Just let me know when, I will even pay you the gas money to go lol. -

Started out early with my son Jon and Signalman this morning at 120 fow. Marked quite of few fish out of temp, couldn't get a fish to hit a paddle. Once we moved out, switched to a spoon program started seeing some releases, Mike bagged a nice coho, with some mixed kings as well, with one that wanted to tour the entire boat under the cables, yikes, how did we ever get that fish and not lose anything ill never know. Sons first big king. Good day but had to work for it. Can't wait for this weeks calm weather. Things are heating up.

Congrats on the king! Long day for ya but you managed to yank one out at least. -
Nick, have a safe trip up this weekend, cool videos as always. Question for you or anyone that would like to chime in, when looking at the current water temperature transects, ( http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/glcfs.php?lake=o&ext=vwt&type=N&hr=00 it seems the water towards the west is cooler closer into shore or does it show you still have to get out to 500+feet to get to the colder water?

Suggestion would be to target the marks, cant go wrong with that, throw a spoon out too, try glow, black as well. Might have some currents from the blow this past week, might have to move around with speed, you might be fighting some currents and not realize it. -

Do you have a down temp? -
Capt, unless its 20mph + north you would be fine on Seneca staying up towards the North end. Stay on the west side towards Roy's Marina just down from the Castle on the hill.

I have no sided interests with this tournament but being I've always wanted to try and get in these but choose not to due to the amount of money with only have a GLS 19fter and a 80 percent chance of having rough seas I wanted to give an opinion. I may be wrong but I don't remember hearing a small craft advisory yesterday. If there was, then based on the rules they should of post phoned it till Sunday. That's what I think it says, went to confirm but it won't let me open the web page. With that said, if there wasn't then I think the boats that paid that couldn't get out lost out on their own with the risk you should of known about or realized when you signed up. In case you realized more than half of this fleet are made up of the big boys that fish 6fters with their eyes closed. The officials are not going to change things when if fact the these guys would still go out. My suggestion would be is to have the invites go right up to the week/day it starts. Pay the extra 50 bucks knowing what the lake conditions are going to be instead of risking 800. Or have a hidden ballot vote from all captains in the tourny the morning of,75% agreement for post phone and its done. something like that. Last note on safety, no one from a derby official puts you in a dangerous situation, you do. Sorry for the opinions but that's all they are. I'm sure there will be more on this to come.

What's your favorite sonar/GPS?
Frogger replied to markmonkey1's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Got an Elite 5 last year, loved it, then Lowrance came out with the 7inch Elite. Bought that this year. Love it even more with the wider screen. Dont have the HDI, dont need it. If you use the GPS plotter as much as i do, go with the wider screen. -

Richard, great idea! My loss to Davey, a February am going after seneca gold, in a brothers Ranger, yea, eyes watering, going down the lake, maybe 20 degrees, felt something fly by me, what was that? 2 of my buddies perch rods that I didn't latch down on the bow, when we get to our spot, realize rods were gone! Still think about them when I'm pulling wire there in the spring. -
