  2. I'll tell ya Les, what a feeling. Had to dig my car out of a drift when we landed. 6 hrs before that I was grilling in shorts. Nice for a change though. Time for autopilot / hydraulic install. Can't wait. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. Here's i think canadaquia and honesty. I also got a good look at Ibay and the ice shelf out in the lake. Looked like the SW wind was taking it out. You could see the end though a couple miles out. This was this afternoon. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  10. So true. The decimation of the in the 90's was bad. Use to be a nuisance during the perch outings. Disease and zebras really hurt them. Slowly though your starting to see some Agree on preservation tactic. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. For those of you thinking of going with an AP, for what its worth, I broke down on a purchase for an EV -100 Auto Pilot (Hydraulic pump) kit by Raymarine, saw an ad from GetFeetWet.com where they had it on sale for 1194.00 + 10.00 ship, spoke to Ancor Express, they matched it, so along with a 100.00 rebate from RayMarine, 1100.00 for an Autopilot system in not half bad.
  12. What will be interesting is the run off picture this spring. Seems we have more of a chance to get run offs at peak with the amount of snow. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. Good article. Nope, it's not legal. And I think the article is pointing out deer that were taken through the use of baiting / feeding or the attempt there of. Example, you have a deer feeder for winter months that you keep current with food but let it run out of food come July, which in all tense and purposes is illegal, but it was the right thing to do with a harsh winter and so forth and you just so happen to place a hang on 30 yds from it for opening day of bow and there's no food in it whatsoever you could be in trouble because it was once a baited area. Waterfowl is different in that you have 13 days after it was baited that you can again hunt over that area. Deer regs are different because the premise was salt licks and other food sources could blend in the environment and be a source for deer for a long time. Why the 300ft from the rd? I'm not sure, someone might know. Sorry to ramble but it's helping bide time to go out and snow blow......uggg Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  14. It's all good, no harm no foul. I'm not a biologist so I'm not that knowledgable either but have studied it years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. Two different topics I would say Giz, planting food plots for deer and whether it's baiting for hunting or not is a whole other topic, feeding the deer in the winter which this thread was based on is not the same as a food plot topic. One of the main concerns with feeding deer in the winter is food contamination with their own bodily wastes being deposited in what there eating. The post I attached earlier I think describes it. Food plots that were or have been planted previously spread deer out when they feed and cause them to feed naturally. Either case, those plots are under a foot of snow and in most cases still give deer a tough winter, vs a pile of corn etc. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

  18. Sounds good Hawk, thats what I was wondering. Ive got a 6hp 2 stroke now and like you put a 3.5 on the opposite side. Im wanting to go to a 4 stroke with a little more HP. The 8 seems to be the ticket. Last year I redid my transom and realized how low the boat sits when loaded. Might have to check to see if ive got a wet foam syndrome going on with added weight in the boat thats not helping me. Thanks for the info.
  19. That's what I hear Blue, that the single cylinders are ratty. Did you see much of a difference in weight on your boat when you went to the 8? Did you go to the 8 because of the lack of power or the vibration?
  20. Sounds good Les, ill be traveling next week but if things keep going like this weekend looks it wont be long as long as the wind stays calm......... Gets some rest.
  21. age..... its creeping lol, serious question though, with my 2 stroke 6hp evinrude on the back, scared to go to a 4 stroke 8hp or 9.9 due to the weight on the back, rumor has it that the 4 strokes 6hp are less than the 2 strokes, anyone have any experience with a 4 stroke 6hp on the back of a 19 or 20 ft aluminum for trolling?
  22. Thanks Min, I didn't know that there was a place up there. Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United
  23. http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7197.html Its tough right, when you see not just the deer but many other animals searching to find viddles in the wintry weather. Some have pointed out the regs, heres a good read on the why nots as well, it seems one of those you have to be thinking longterm of the health of the heard but like I said that doesn't mean much when you see the animals looking like their struggling day to day. I like Eds way of spreading out the deer by plowing things back. Cool pics Ed.
  24. Ok, so I wasn't dreaming........ I think I was the first one..lol And your right, there were some monsters, I had a ball along with that eerie feeling of the open water out near Belherst. It will be cool if we can get out there again.
  25. So 38 yrs ago, or at least I think ( I was young but still remember) walked out on the ice past the now removed light house pier and watched several guys pulling some monster pike out of ice on the north end. Odds are looking pretty good from what Im seeing, especially with mornings like this, we could see this again? Anyone remember that year being out there?
