  4. It's been an honor to fish with this club. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The competition is kinda second compared to the fun and commradary. I really enjoy seeing a guy like Harvey win and watching everyone else that places or doesn't place out there grinding out a catch. Mike you have a power house team! You deserve a ton of recognition for being the best of the guys that fish with us. Great job and congratulations!! Just a side note, our day was beyond great boating 15 bows three Lakers and a bunch of small mouth. We just didn't land any over the 3lb mark. Fun day fishing on any lake. Saw a huge brown jump out of the water behind our lines.. Thought he was on a core for a second but no such luck! Looking forward to LOU all on Cayuga!! Btw my wife is my fishing partner and she insisted that I put a blue lure out, yup it caught the biggest bow!! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. The fish were very eager to take a small perch colored spoon leading me to believe that is their forage also. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Les great comments, four to five years ago there were huge Lakers and piles of bait in Keuka. Seems that something has changed in that timeline. Weather? Frozen lake? Chemical? Invasives? Baseline samples of water quality would've been great. Is it a natural cycle of the bait fish? Could it use a healthy stocking of alewifes? Can the lake sustain smelt? Probably not. I'm not a biologist but it seems like a problem that has come on quickly. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. My Theory on the fish not biting would be they go into a survival mode and shut down most movement, they probably don't have the energy to swim and catch bait they do see. Overall I think that Keuka trout are in trouble. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Same here nothing in the bellies, all my fish were males btw. Les hate to tell you but I released both of those toothy critters, figured the esox guys would shoot me if on here if I didn't.. " not sure if they are even in the esox family, lol!" Also thanks Mike not sure if you even have to fish Canandaguia lol! Great year for you bud! 9. Launched outta Penn Yan early with a pile of Bass boats. Trolled the North East branch in 55-65' all morning with great screens. Started out with two very nice small mouth bass 3-4lbs. Thought that most of the marks we were seeing may have been them until we started picking a steady amount of Lakers. Dropped a lot of fish as the ones we did catch were barely hooked in the tip of their mouths. Got a nice surprise early with a 3.6lb ll salmon. All the Lakers were thin cookie cutters at 3 to 3.5 lbs. Also caught my PB chain pickerel and then caught a bigger one! Fun day for my wife n myself. Ended up third overall with 14-10 with our best 4 fish. Congratulations to Russ n Bobbie on first n second with Bobby landing a great 5+ lb salmon and Russ had a beautiful bow that tipped the scales at 5-13!! 13. I agree with the moon theory that they feed at night. Also kinda wonder if the Lakers are turning pre spawn and shut down a bit. Or the slight temp drop is slowing then down a bit.. either way, good job grinding it out.. Just like you always do Les!! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. We had a tough morning, connected with two small ish Lakers early dropped em back in the lake, big mistake, ended up catching only one more 3lb Laker and then dropped three other fish one was definitely a nice bow. Not our day but I still love that lake! Tried everything.. they were just in a neutral to negative bite.. great job grinding it out Mike!! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Our FLTA tourney is there Sunday, we pre fished with great screens everywhere caught a few Lakers on FF and UV wild child fly, www.ironduketrollingflies.com the bows and browns usually like small spoons with lots of bright colors although we didn't get any to go in the afternoon troll.. Great lake to fish you will see a few more boats than usual on Sunday though.. Good luck Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  19. Keuka had a major die off of alewife probably from the lake freezing over a few years back and the sheer numbers of Lakers in that lake put a serious hurting on the bait. Cayuga has a very nice balance happening now, great bait and fish that are feeding aggressively. That equals great Fishing. I think that Seneca has an over population of bait currently. Fish do not have to work for food and they feed but not aggressively. Tons of fish being marked in Seneca each time we are out just have to find the wolf pack that is feeding.. Will the cormorants destroy the lake I think not because they have been there for as long as I can remember. It's again a balance. Stocked fish are always the wild card in the balance equation. Too many and no bait, just right and fishing is tremendous. Too few, bait thrives and fishing is slow. The question is do these birds hurt the balance? Probably.. but good luck selling that to the DEC and having a season to just kill them. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
