  1. Teeth are a good way to judge age, I shot a doe that my sister n neighbor rehabed after being caught in a fence as a fawn. it had a broken back leg. They wrapped the rear leg and it survived for 8 more years. The bone healed and I still have the leg is was obvious that it was put into a splint and healed. This doe was 8 1/2 years old the rear teeth were worn but still fine. I think a lot depends on how many acorns it eats over it's lifetime. This deer had beautiful alfalfa to eat and plenty of corn but not as many oaks as other areas.. truly the only way to tell is by sending out a tooth. 2. She's a NBK!! Well done girl!! Bear is getting a crossbow next year!! Look out! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. I dunno that's a hard picture to judge age. If the buck has been on the property for that long no doubt. He is blocky, bit of a belly, hard to see a sway back, but the part that makes it possible is the mass around his bases.. could be 6-7 yo buck imo... 4. If you bring the gun inside unload it. The change in temps and humidity creates condensation on the inside of the barrel getting your pellets or powder wet. If it stays outside you can get away with it but it's a good idea to drop the breech and unload it after each hunt only takes a few seconds and after unloading and bringing up to inside temp run a swab or paper towel thru. 5. You're right it would be funnier if it was rigged with a bud light and it threw a guy into the pond. Dilly Dilly!! Question would be, who has more rights a squirrel or a drunk red neck? yea today it would be the squirrel, [emoji107] Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  7. 30-36" the other key is running a 14' leader of 30lb mono from the dipsy, hand lining em in. You can shorten up the fly distance in the summer with more active fish. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Yes big flocks of geese and many ducks not close enough to identify but lots of birds.. Last year this time, I trolled right up to a red head wish I had a good camera, the pic woulda been awesome. He would've looked good dead too! Lol Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Sheldrake... I meant to say Milliken, lol! But seriously the fish weren't there like usual, bait was pasted on the bottom in 175' and most of the big fish were suspended in the middle of the lake. One great thing about not having to winterize is the next warm day I'm headed out again, lol!! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Run it deep!!! 130-150 lots of fish.. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  12. Friends in from Florida hunting with me wanted to fish so we hit Dean's cove at about 8am. Headed south seeing little on the screen shallow headed out to find the big boys suspended out deep, dropped a nine plus pound fish behind the boat.. dang.. picked a steady amount of fish out deep a few mixed small salmon in. The usual UV wild child iron Duke trolling fly put the fish in the boat. Lots of fish were down 135-150, it's setting up the for their winter mode. Fished down to Sheldrake and found the best screens in 175' worked shallow to end the day and lost two very nice fighting silvers in 45'. Total for the day 19 Lakers lots of little salmon and a baby rainbow.. Water was crystal clear and dark spoons and small spoons were the shallow ticket. Water temp on top 47 degrees. Only one other boat launched outta Dean's that am.. perch guys!! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Very cool story and great buck for your Dad! Well done gentlemen! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. I do love Owasco, it's been slow there this year not sure what's up. How was the water clarity? Seemed cloudy last time I was there Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Cayuga?? Location probably. Head farther north, Sheldrake area north should be a good shallow and top 20-50' bite. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. It is Illegal to track a deer in PA with a dog.. we tracked for 10 plus years in NY and got plenty of calls South of the border. PA should get on board with this service. My dog is turning 15 this month and she successfully tracked and found many deer. Soon there will be a puppy but until she passes I will have to hold off on tracking because of her old hips. I miss doing it though.. You get to meet a lot of great guys n gals and the reward of knowing if your shot was fatal or not is very satisfying. 18. Lol! I prefished South of Sheldrake with only a few small fish earlier in the week. That area we were in always seems to produce. Fishing should get better here for a few weeks. We may get out again soon for a fun trip! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. 66 degrees. Two of our Lakers had huge sculpin or gobies in them, 6" and chunky, fairly digested.. pink n purple blueish ladder back, hammered custom FLT spoon took both our silvers 45 and 55' down on rigger, 4.5 lb male salmon and 4 lb rainbow. Deep rigger 115' took suspended Lakers hot paddle, sd was a Seneca special n UV wild child. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  21. Nice article! I've never been a fan of introducing new scents to an area of a mature buck, it would be like putting a pile of be dog crap on your living room and thinking no one would notice.. Even if you have the best scents out there they are foreign smells. The only ones I have had success with is freshly harvested tarsals and bladder from a doe. 22. Ah heck! So close to that pretty trophy!! With the experience of Joe, Josh, Nick and Butch that was a tough team to beat! Can't imagine how many hours each guy has on the water.. Great job guys! Imagine how many pounds you woulda had if Josh hadn't made you guys "quit" early [emoji23] Joe Joe your boat is looking good and you have it dialed in! Great job team, why couldn't you have dropped one more fish, lol..Next year.. Big thanks to Mike you are the one that sacrificed a day of fishing. Good job and the key to catching those fish was the flies you make, if y'all haven't checked out his flies please do so, he makes a great fly at a great price! https://www.ironduketrollingflies.com/ Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. 6.5 hours till I'm outta work then hook up the boat, if you see me napping in the back of my truck tomorrow no big deal!! Good luck fellas!! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Picture of the flat calm water on Cayuga yesterday am, it looks like a pic of clouds but it's actually the reflection of them.. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Pre fished today, holy cow if the fish don't turn on it'll be interesting to say the least.. pre spawn Lakers... Weeds do suck in spots BTW.. Good luck everyone! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
