  1. Brent, great job and congratulations on the win, believe I saw you in Mickey D's afterword, really like the rig you have. Looking forward to the competition in Seneca, watch out for Joe Joe! Mike think we tied my wife said doesn't that take a point off of Joe's total if you two tied?? Don't know but there must be a shuffle in the standings, lol! 2. Launched out of Taughannock Sunday to try and find some bigger fish, headed North and set up a shallow water program. Couldn't get three rods in and it was a bit of a frenzy just south of the boy scout camp. Two dinky salmon and a couple small Lakers. Headed toward Kidders and we keep hitting fish in any clear water we find just before a mud line. Lots of small salmon and Lakers around 2 lbs. So I decide to hit a spot on the east shore that produced a few bigger Lakers two weeks earlier. We hit 370' and mark a bunch of bait, rigger at 50' goes off and in comes a decent 7 lber before landing him the #1 dipsy goes and we have two 7 plus in the boat. Couple more circles and land three more of the same class fish. Overall we ended up with a high 20 number in the boat with quite a few drops, a few of them ripped some drag, probably the silvers we needed. The weigh in had some truly good looking LL, browns and bows. Congratulations to winners! We ended up middle of the pack with 21lb 5oz with three Lakers. Dam silver's, next time at Seneca! Looking forward to her! Everything took shots hot lures were purple alpha alewife FLT, and his custom paddle with uv fly on dipsy back 280. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Interesting take, my first trip this spring I didn't catch a Laker under 8lbs they were all huge, I released all but one ( caught 6). And the fish I have marked on my fish finder were huge! So yes I agree we shouldn't make the same mistakes but why can't the fish live together? Typically the eye is a shallow water fish, trout deep.. does the eye eat trout fry ? Probably, does the trout eat eye fry probably, I guess nature will balance itself without our intervention but I guess I am selfish and would like a lake that has great fishing for both species. I know I don't have the answer but i bet it falls somewhere between harvesting correct numbers and having the right amount of bait in the lake for all species. 4. I have heard that about alewife fed eyes that they tasted poor. My only point was that I think that both eyes and trout can thrive in that lake, already happens, but to stop stocking them because of a survey that's wrong, the decision should be more about a balance in the lake between bait fish and predator fish Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. That makes no sense to me, the DEC thinks that all trout species and walleye can't thrive together in Owasco, that's ludicrous! Balance is key and a put and take fishery with walleye would balance that lake nicely. They already grow to epic sizes in Owasco, it would be nice if there were more for the dinner table. Dunno, just seems like our money goes to a fishery that is controlled by a governmental organization that really has no clue as to what is really going on or what fishermen want. Not the fault of the fishery guys just how information is turned into action and how our money from licenses works for us, or doesn't. The trout fishing is awesome there, the walleye are big but too few and far between. There should be an easier way to log fish caught in the fingers, how about an App.... DEC. I'm not a guy that will fill out a form and mail it or fax it, I'm sure many of us feel the same way. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. There must be some pretty successful natural reproduction for the eyes. Although it definitely needs an eye stocking program. Why did they quit stocking em? Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  19. Launched out of Taughannock at 6 am did not move a rod till 8:30, wow! Debris in the middle of the lake was bad. Hit the east shore and headed North, BAM a double two plump Lakers one on 5 color core and one on 7 color. Continued North only murky watered and not much bait. Headed toward Kidders and wow the reports were right on lots of small lakers in the top 30' fished till 11:30 and started pulling lines when the rigger peeled off drag, nice bow. Took two younguns with me today. The older is shipping out to the Marines next week and the younger was just bored and wanted to go! Fun had by all! 21. I'll say that it's a great group of gentlemen that talk softly and fish like pros! It's a lot of fun trying to keep up with them. Learning the lakes is probably the best part of the competition, but getting to fish with these guys is an honor. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  24. Wife n I fished hard in the blowing south wind, went 6 for 10 and dropped a screaming drag fish that I believe was a nice bow. Our highlight was a young buck swimming from East side to west, like he was admiring the other side of Owasco and decided to take a swim. maybe his mom kicked him to the curb, gotta make room for the new little ones. Looking forward to Cayuga! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Great job Mike!!, the cream is rising to the top, Joe Joe n the rest of us need to step it up at Cayuga!! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
