  1. There is no replacement for lead. Heavy shot does not have the kinetic energy of lead... IMO over priced and a lesser product. Fiocchi shells rules the numbers when its compared to others,(higher velocity thus greater kinetic energy)... that is what kills, find the right choke and kill em! Keep em gobbling boys n girls! 2. Good info! Why did conrail never have to pay for their accident, insurance? Got shoved under the carpet nicely for them.... Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Cool, I used to fish them too tied my own egg sacks whole nine yards, I agree that the bag limit should be reduced, but we can't fish for walleye while they spawn why can we fish for bows? Traditions I guess, there was a time that the inlet was loaded with fish, But after the train wreck in 97 the fishing has never been the same, killed a few generations of fish, conrail did nothing to help restore the stream after 600 plus gallons of diesel spilled. 4. Lack of lampricide at fish ladder for past few years, there were a few posts about the problem on LOU, I will look back in posts and try to add link. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/index.php?/topic/41205-Lamprey-eels#entry268369 Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. I believe the "silver" fishery in Cayuga is ok for the Salmon and browns but the rainbows are in trouble. When compared to Seneca, Cayuga has very few bows. Hearing that someone has caught fifty plus bows while they are spawning is a bit scary for the fish, but you have every right to do that.... I certainly hope the DEC does it's part to eliminate as many lamprey as possible! Is it at epidemic proportions? Not yet... close though. As for targeting Lakers we love em deep fried or on grill with salsa on top, I try to let the 8lbers go but keep a few smaller fish. hopefully the big ones bite on tournament days! Good fishing guys! 8. Fished south end. We were on the water by 8am. Went 8 for 10. Two salmon one Brown and 5 Lakers. Biggest Laker was about 7-8 lbs, released her kept a few for a fish fry. Still 36.7 main lake temp. South end a few degrees warmer. Salmon measured out at 24" hot spoons were alpha alewife and FLT custom 42nd. Stick of the day was a very old rainbow yozuri. Lakers down chute by the yacht club, 84 and 120 down caught on FF. bait still super deep. Salmon and Brown caught shallow 30' or less. One small lamprey on Brown all others clean! Good luck guys! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  14. Bit gutsy this am. Tried shallow for a bit, water still a bit cold 40... decided to try Lakers up the middle. 170 to 240 held a pile of bait. Found a few fish up around 80'. Went 3 for 4 dropped a 9 to 10lb one at boat, easy release lol. Finger lakes tackle spoons beat out my favorite ff combo today thanks Bobby! Went solo so pics are not that great. We need a warm up! 16. Just got my latest NYSEG Bill 13.9,cents a kw hr. Ridiculous! We pay the highest land taxes per thousand of assessment and the highest utility bills too. Someone remind me how good the fishing is so I don't pack my stuff and leave. BTW they are closing that plant so the demand for electric will go up.. Solution: drill a few natural gas wells on state owned land. Have Cornell oversee for safety. Hook them up to Cayuga Aes. Taxes go down utilities go down, we become self sufficient.... Theres a concept NY.... Lower utilities attracts business too. Want more? buy a natural gas vehicle costs less than a third of the price to fuel compared to gas, I am ready to move forward..... 20. 3 for 3 today nice Brown,Laker and a 18" bow who unfortunately got a hook thru its eye, will not be wasted though, West side clear and cold east side green with a bit of debris. Brown and bow came on a green monkey puke scorpion on lead core ten colors back. Laker on favorite sd Carmel dolphin with custom white glow fly off mag dipsy 280' back on ss braid runs at about 105' deep. Fish were still deep. More fish were up (120') on bait on east side. we need a few more degrees. Good luck guys! Sent from my 3C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Managed one decent laker and two small salmon, tough day of fishing bait was deep and water on surface never got over 35 degrees. Had a great time though. 25. IMO your best bet would be taughannock launch and try tight to shore if nothing then try deep down the chute if bait is deep good luck ,if bait is up should be good. Watch out for debris... others will tell you south end lots of debris down there Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
