  5. I started a welding business in July and it's the hardest thing I've ever tried. I've learned a lot in the last 8 month. Doesn't exactly translate over to chartering but I end up working about 70 or 80 hours a week once you take into account driving, quoting work or getting material. I'm really hoping I have time to fish this summer. I guess the biggest thing I can say is expect to spend way more money than you thought you would up front. I learned that the hard way. 6. They seem to have a very short stay where ever they go, at least when I'm trying to find them. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Heres what they do in the Colorado River to protect the salmon. Offer a few bucks per asian carp and I bet there will be 1000 people out there killing them. Northern Pikeminnow The Northern Pikeminnow (Squawfish) Sport Reward Program pays you to catch these non-native species of fish, plain and simple. In an effort to save salmon, the Pikeminnow Sport Reward Fishery Program, pays anglers for each Northern Pikeminnow caught over 9″. You can be paid between $5 and $8 for each fish but catching a specially tagged fish can net you a whopping $500. The program runs from May 1 to September 30 in the lower Columbia River and Snake River in Oregon. Why this easy money? It is all for a good cause “Save a salmon and make money doing it” is their tagline. Northern Pikeminnow consumes millions of salmon and young steelheads annually and the program is designed to reduce their numbers to enable the salmon and steelhead to make it out to sea. In a five month season, last year, the top anglers made $34,000 each. No small change for doing what you love.
  8. Snow Geese Anyone ever hunt them in NY? Ive always wanted to give them a try and im not willing to hire a guide or go out of state this year. Any tips or general fly over locations appreciated not looking to take your secret spot or anything.

  11. Fort niagara's launch has been under construction for the last few months. They're currently making the ramps longer, my 16 foot boat trailer used to fall of the end of it so beware of that if they don't finish construction by May. Wilson's launch is my favorite but it's two minutes from my house. Olcott is 10 minutes away from Wilson and is my third choice but very busy on weekends. 15. Im just glad they're putting in launch extensions. My trailer used to fall off that ramp every time I launched there.
  16. Most guys up here use riggers and wire dipsys. I don't use lead core because I don't think it will get deep enough in the summer. The bar is a great spot for the spring. It can also produce well in the summer along with the area outside of Olcott. In fall the best bite is out towards Oswego and east. Hope you have a good time up here on Lake Ontario and feel free to ask more questions. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
