  1. It's the way I see it but it will only hurt us if we don't fill our doe tags at some point. Next step is early muzzleloader doe only OCT 1st I suggest everyone fill and call in your doe tags I've even heard whispers about guys calling in the doe tags regardless if they are filled or not...I don't agree or disagree with this tactic. To me it's a moot point because I always harvest my share of doe I also firmly believe that the deer population is very healthy and doesn't need this holocaust the DEC is trying to facilitate
  2. Many things can tighten up groups, different powder, amount of powder, seating length ect Start with one thing at a time, don't do more than one change at once . For seating depth I like to kiss the lands but magazine constraints may prohibit you from doing that. If you start at the start (the lands) you only have one direction to go if you need to adjust. 1" is the best I get with the 120gr TTSX,I've better groups with R15 and Varget the 120gr Nosler ballistic tips will give you best groups 9 out of 10 times but how much better than 1" do you need in a hunting rifle?
  3. Yep plan on hitting a different property this afternoon
  4. There isn't much on this continent besides grizzly I wouldn't feel confident shooting with the 120 gr TTSX
  5. Another disappointing morning with no deer sighted from my stand, bumped one near stand coming in picture verified it was a single lone doe.Thought it would be better as it was cold and even a few flurries in the air. No fret as it's still early on the game and unfortunately due to wind direction I've been limited to this one set. Deer are moving well at night have pictures of 5 different buck from last night mostly small guys but a decent buck showed up I hadn't seen yet Back at it this afternoon
  6. You should do none of the above, that's a great morning and close encounter, you didn't miss, wound or spook him so call it good!
  7. This guy came past my stand at 3:17 am This is the buck from yesterday that was dogging the doe This guy has to go!
  8. Dead thus far
  9. Outstanding!
  10. Nice 1st morning. Had a button buck feed right past me,then a little bit later a mature doe.She parked right in front of me broadside at 12 yds for 20 minutes. She was acting squirrelly.I knew she couldn't wind or see me. Sure enough she starts to move off and an 8 pt comes right down the trail lightly grunting and starts to chase her. They got behind me and another doe was there also.He got the point nobody was interested in his advances and moved off. Could have killed all except the doe behind me. The buck as he passed by going after the doe
  11. Just set up another camera at another property 6 doe right by my stand at 1 pm??? Fresh scrapes and rubs abound! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. I've been shooting every day a few arrows My buddy hunted in SE Ohio yesterday afternoon on a fresh cut bean field. He had a 130" 10 pt grunting and chasing doe and then a huge buck he thinks was a 12 pt bashing a large tree on the field edge and then he ran off the 10 pt buck and started dogging the doe. He had him at 50 yds just too far for an ethical shot Things should start getting jiggly with this colder weather Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Almost time... Twas The week before buck Season Twas the week before buck season and all through the woods not a creature was stirring not even a hunter. The stands are all hung in key spots with care, in hopes that big buck would wait a week to pass here.
  14. We had nearly 100 % survival in the Genny this past year. A few floaters the last day less than 200 out of 85,000 fish. The DEC came the day before and took samples for weight and size and used a drug to immobilize the sample fish so that may have caused the few that died the last day.
  15. I'll beg to differ weaver sucks. Talley low's are the way to go Why use the rail if you want to keep the scope low? these will get you what you are trying to achieve http://www.talleymanufacturing.com/Products/Lightweight-Alloy-Scope-Mount/Tikka/1-Tikka-T3-and-Tikka-Master-(Low).aspx Weaver are not my favorite and weigh a ton
  16. I'd roll with Talley's http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1781265484/talley-lightweight-2-piece-scope-mounts-with-integral-rings-tikka-knight-mk85-matte Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. My taxidermist friend called 2 days ago to tell me he got a buck in from 8A. deer died near someones yard and DEC officer was called. Guy got to keep his deer and received a $25 fine thats it!.....you can't bank on all game wardens being so kind so proceed at your own risk
