  1. Yeah man. It helps a lot for the suspended lakers. Most of my lakers are taken within 10ft off the bottom
  2. Instructions? Special tools needed? YouTube isn’t bringing up much. I have an alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive.
  3. I was out of Barcelona on Sunday. Lake rolled over. I had 52 degree water 25ft down in 70 fow. Surface temps in the mid 60s. I was landing Lakers while walleye fishing inside. Fish seem all scattered around.
  4. When I pulled into the harbor on Sunday I trimmed up my outdrive all the way to get the boat on the trailer. I noticed the slightest bit of oil sheen coming off the trim cylinder rams. Not the ram housing. The actual stainless steel rods. Never had that before. The trim reservoir is full. I didn’t pull any out to look for water contamination. What could this be from? Bad seal inside the ram itself?
  5. Hewescraft pilot house. wide open decks and built like a tank. If you are OK with aluminum.
  6. lol. would anybody actually run their boards 300ft off the side? thats 100yds FCS
  7. so 300ft is too far to run out the boards?
  8. My cisco planer reels came in. I see the hole in the reel for the tow line to pass t through, but theres not a post or hook to tie too. Do I just pass the line through and tie a big knot that can't pull back out? Should I tie a trout bead to the end to ensure it can't come back through? Whats the best way
  9. nope. i still have it. let me figure out a price
  10. My Cisco planer reels and pulley shipped today, and I should have them by Wednesday. I need to order my boards now, but I can't decide between the regular or large size Auroralites. Any ideas on which size is appropriate? I will primarily be pulled lead core, deep divers, jet divers for walleye, but occasionally will need to pull 300-400 copper setups when I salmon fish.

  13. Yep. I have a similar boat. A 1997 Bayliner 2252 Express Cruiser hard top. 4 years ago I installed a Raymarine Sportpilot. While it did do the job, it wasn't as nice as I wanted it. It was loud, constantly running, and after 10hrs of trolling it got annoying to listen to. Furthermore, each year I had to send the SportPilot back to Raymarine and have the clutch pads and bearings replaced. This year I decided to switch my boat over to hydraulic steering. The job really isn't that difficult. I have an in-depth thread in this forum that walks you through exactly how I did it. It is night and day difference.
  14. We’ve gone through 120 clips so often while walleye fishing it’s not even funny. And it’s annoying pulling in the boards to gather all your clips while all your other rods are still out.
  15. Buying 120 offshore or Scotty Minis is not in the budget.
  16. the vegeheads swear tofu is a good meat substitute. try brining it
  17. sharpen the old hooks....if theyre intact.
  18. Odd question but has anyone ever put a "pull gauge" inline on their big boards? To see exactly how many lbs of force they are pulling? Id be curious to see. I keep seeing people say that the Auroralite and Amish Outfitters boards "pull like a mule". I was easily able to pull them in with my bare hands while the boat was at trolling speed. I was expecting it to feel like pulling up a 100lb anchor. Im only asking because Im about to start running them, and I have to decide whether or not to go crazy and reinforce the grab handles on my hard top. Those grab handles easily support my 240Lb hanging from them.
  19. Vanish is awful. Tried it on my bass rod. Hated it. If you can find the Berkeley Professional 100% Flouro I would get that. You’ll like it a lot.
  20. Thats just like the Amish Outfitter one I linked to. I like the fact you can see the fly...vs the one I got where the fly is retracted up into a straw
  21. Im a firm believer in fluorocarbon for walleye, which what I primarily fish for. By far the best line I have used for my rigger and lead core rods is / was Berkely Trilene 100% Flouro Professional. Which seems to be hard to find recently. Because of that I have switched to Seagur Yellow Flouro on all of my rods. The thought of using mono on a walleye rod boils my blood. I personally wouldn't. At a minimum you could spool up with mono backing, but the last 150-200ft should be fluorocarbon. I bet your hook up rate improves drastically.
  22. My Clipper releases arrived today. I’m trying to adjust them. I’m using a feeler gauge 0.005 and trying three different rubber bands that I also purchased from Amish Outfitters. Im guessing I won’t know which rubber bands I need until I try them out? It will depend on what I’m pulling correct? Leadcore and stickbaits vs deep divers vs flasher/fly?
  23. Well that’s was my motto all the time too. But my fear is I’m overlooking some maintenance that I don’t even know needs done. My Cap and rotor looks ok with no obvious corrosion. Changing the oil oil and gear lube I understand should be yearly. The idle has always sounded a little low to me so I wanted it checked and put back in spec if it was out. I knew nothing about the impeller and seals in the lower unit. I never knew the lower need any type of maintenance except greasing the rams and changing the gear lube. My fuel filter iscall diety on the outside. For all I know it’s the original from 1997. I mean they they said they will only change what needs to be changed. I think they sound honest.
  24. Fuel filters should be replaced every year?
