  1. Unfortunately, Jeff county does not have a perch limit. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. Agreed. Its when they are kept in a cooler in ice water and get slimy they turn quickly. In the fridge they will be fine for several days. Enjoy. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. Nice size eaters. Good work! How much ice? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Healthy looking norton. Nice fish. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. Exactly right! I tried self sharpening one time.... big mistake, lol. My spud cut ice better when I was done. Now I just buy new blades when its time. As sk8 mentioned, keeping the cover on when not in use helps keep things sharp and let the auger do the work. Also, be aware of the ice you are drilling. Sometimes the ice can have debris in it that may dull or knick your blades. Particularly in the late season. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. How did u like the machine Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. I like suffix ice braid at 20# and a 4ft 15-20# floro leader Depending on situation. 15# is preferred. I also use small spro Swivel. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  13. Thanks for the clarity! Yes, weather does not seem to be on our side this year. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. Im staying in the same neighborhood. Great spot! Looks like we r going to start getting some lower temps overnight up there. Lets hope things start setting up. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. The largest mikita batts i could find reasonably priced. Id have to look but they are either 5 or 6 Ah. If its not too cold I can easily rip 40-50 holes on 12" of ice. Keeping blades sharp is important, too. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Am I correct in understanding that all of the first place anglers will be placed in a lottery and have a 1 in 7 chance ( unless an angler is first for more than one category) of winning the 500 dollar first place prize? And so on for second and third place..... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. Which side of the point are u on? Im staying on the Chaumont side of TMP this winter. Just be aware of conditions. Things can change quickly on the bay. A lotta guys go in the drink by state launch. Also gotta be careful near head of point salubrious. Current rips there and ice formation is significantly reduced. Pressure cracks and shifting ice sheets are things to take note of as well. Highly recommend getting an ice condition update from chaumont hardware anytime u head out. Greg, the owner has good bait and very reliable information. Good luck! Hope have a safe and productive trip. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. I just chatted with my buddy in lafargeville. He is a contractor and ice fishes all winter long. There will places to ice fish. Chaumont will have ice as well. Just may be more limited as to where we can safely fish..... need a stretch of single digits so we can safely get out to the walleye grounds on machines. In warm winters past, the inland lakes near Theresa and Redwood provide pretty decent ice fishing opportunities..... they tend to freeze a bit more quickly and not a bad plan b, imho. Its just nice to jump on ur machine and go when ur staying on the bay. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  20. Uggg. I just looked at several winter forecasts.....not promising. Much of the US is experiencing above average temps. In some instances significantly above average like 40+ degrees. I go up to Chaumont bay for 10 days each winter. Last week I changed the dates from mid Jan to mid Feb. Hope there is ice!! 🤞[emoji120] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. Was it comfortable? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. I agree with sk8. Altho i use a mikita and am happy with it..... 2 upgraded batteries come in handy. Particularly on very cold days. I also use 7". It greatly extends batt life. Not many fish that wont fit thru a 7" hole. When im eye fishing i just double up the hole. The drill really does feel like its going to break ur wrist sometimes, lol. Torque is impressive. Good luck. Best investment i have ever made. Dont miss my gas auger one bit!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. There was ice in the north country a few weeks ago with the cold temps. The warm up and rain degraded much of it but there are still areas where u can get on with caution. Temps over the next several days look favorable. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. Depends on what ur definition of reasonable is..... Its easier to use a machine on the bay because it is so large, IMHO. Its about 0.6-2.5miles to walleye water. Depending on where u want to fish. *Distance relates to the Lodge in Chaumont. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  25. Wow... what are the chances!! Lol. Thats awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
