  8. with only 3-4 weekends a year and your requested budget thought, I would add a coupke thoughts. In my experience if using 19 and only fish a few times a year then no tip / roller will be needed. If fishing a lot or using 7 strand then I agree completely with above. I agree though with above that a twill tip will be all you need and they are under $10 and take literally 3 min to install Again if not fishing much then you can get away with cheaper reels but IMO shimano tekota 600s are the only way to go. Top of the line. Okuma are junk, again in my opinion Too many drag issues for what you pay. Once drag upgrades are done then they are okay, but you will lose fish with them due to jerky drags 19 strand is a bit easier to use with less kinks but I have found fraying issues with the 19 as of lately so am moving to 7 again. Last thing that you will not find much disagreement with. You will never regret going to wire Just be sure to hold on tight
  9. I’ve had great success with grunting once I see a buck. I’ll lightly grunt at him and watch his reaction. Have had several turn and come to the base of the tree. Not much luck blind calling yet though. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  14. Good tip on treatment of poison ivy. I was taught by a neighbor a cpl years back that poison ivy is very oily when it gets on your skin. After any day in the woods if you treat your hands arms etc like they have grease on them, wash with degreasing soap and warm water you will not develop the rash. I work in it all the time and haven’t gotten the rash since starting this practice. Don’t forget to wash your clothes as well as they carry the oil. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. Well I will say this. This thing is financially devastating The decision and balance between that and lost lives is one that none of us should have to make Best of luck moving forward to you and all Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. Wow. That is truly remarkable. And this is why this disease is so difficult to fight. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. Here here. Just opening back up and “going for it” in actuality is the worst thing we could do. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. Many of us have been on the receiving end of a tow. Unfortunately it happens. Fortunately there are wonderful people that have helped us all. I have been able to help out as well to try to pay it forward. Years back a father son team towed my dad and father n law and I into the Oak from 8 miles out. Same deal wouldn’t accept money. Just a friendly wave as they tossed the lines back. Ruined their day of fishing I’m sure. I think of them often I fully believe that the Gods of Lake O have a long memory and those that help will be helped in turn. Lots of great people out there for sure Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  19. Well said!!!! And I certainly understand the financial strain that it has caused. Very difficult decisions for sure but facts are that opening quickly will cost lives, particularly in nursing homes. That is a fact This certainly is a terrible situation. 20. HB2. With complete respect to you and your opinion, the facts are the facts. Anyone such as myself in the medical field who have lost patients and loved ones would tell you that you are sorely mistaken once again. I wish you and your family health and a good off season. And to the other comments I agree with above. This pandemic is real and no state has done a great job managing it Pa, NY, OH have all taken huge missteps but hindsight is always 20 20. Hopefully a viable vaccine will be available soon Good luck to all in the woods and hope everyone has a safe and healthy off season. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. All depends. 2 years ago we finished our season last weekend of sept and had our best 2 days by far. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Generally depends on what else we have down. If spoons etc we generally start at 2.3 and work our way up but we check our roll on meat head first before sending down. If more meat out we will slow down and stay around 1.9-2.0. There have been days that meat is still firing at 3.0. When they want it they want it. Roll is the key though Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. Agreed on heaviest your rigger can handle. Be cautious though. As example the new Cannons are so fast that you run the risk of popping a cable if you have heavier balls. Blowback is difficult. TD is a good tool if you want to know Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
