  1. Thanks again Shooter, very helpful. I'll be out there tomorrow morning giving it a try. Good info on the trolling speed.
  2. Thanks for the encouraging report. That's good news after my experiences earlier this week.
  3. Hey Shooter, I was out there yesterday fishing that same area and observed what you did. Marked some fish, mostly in the 110-120' range and had some streakers chasing the lures, but no releases. I also found it interesting that the wind was still out of the NE and not the S as the NOAA claimed it would be. I'll blame that for the poor fishing.
  4. Looks like a beautiful day John. Thanks for sharing!
  5. My boat spends a few weeks uncovered next to the garage between the time I take it out of the slip and get the winter shrink wrap on. During this time, falling leaves etc. get in the scuppers and a hard rain will flush smaller leaves into the bilge. I used small sections of a house downspout strainer, rolled to a point, to serve as a scupper strainer. Maybe it will work for others.
  6. For all the luck I've had out of I-Bay in the last 3 weeks I might as well used a Barbie rod myself.
  7. Hey Buster, glad to see someone hauled some fish out of our pond. Good job! What night was that? Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Hey Bow, I was one of the boats that headed NE out of the bay. Trolled from 150 to 330 until I realized I have to make my way back south through the 2' chop and then turned around. Marked a fair number of fish in the 220' range and saw some streakers checking out my lines but no takers. Marks were at 120 to 140' deep. Had 3 releases but they could have been the chop bouncing the riggers or the current. A frustrating day just like most of the last 3 weeks out of I-Bay, at least for me. 9. I wonder if she fishes and what a 5 hour charter costs.
  10. Thanks for the info guys. I'll be heading out there this PM and tomorrow AM with my brother who is in town for some fishing. Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Nice to see the fish are helping to offset higher gas prices by staying in closer to shore.
  12. I grew up in Elyria, just west of Cleveland, and fished Lake Erie walleye with my grandfather. A friend who fishes Erie out of Lorain had a work schedule that gave him every Friday off in the summer. So every Friday about 8 AM my phone would start blowing up with pictures of his fish well jammed with huge walleye. We appreciate the depth and colder water of Lake Ontario for the salmon, steelhead, and trout it holds, but there is something to be said for a shallower lake that provides easy pickings on a very tasty fish like walleye. 13. Went for a short troll from 100-200 fow later in the AM yesterday. The temp break was back down deep at 95' in that area. Did mark some fish, not a lot of bait however. Boated a just under Atlantic and a small king. Surprised to see the temp break drop back down.
  14. Hey Bad, I found similar temps. Trolled from 120 to 200 fow and caught 2 decent kings at 65 and 70' down at the 140 depth. Temp break was 75' deep when I measured it. Everything I've caught this year has been on a spoon, nothing on any FF I've tried. Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. That's terrific! Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Same here. Talked to someone this morning around 10:00 who just came in from the lake and he said the temp break was near 60'. We'll find out tomorrow.
  17. Thanks for the report. Good to get the update. Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Nice consolation prize! About a month ago after a strong storm, half a kayak floated by me. It was too eerie to attempt to pull it into the boat. Maybe I've watched Jaws too many times. Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
