    Catfish

Went out 3 weeks ago. I would cast straight out and get sunfish... After dark. Buddy literally is casting inches from same spot I am... Pulls out bullhead... Could be distance between hooks, leader length, sinker weight... Could be a patch of sea weed they approach and use for cover... Fish are weird. 2. Chartreuse and white rim. They work good on bright days with flashers and flies. I use to run to lead cores on boards with a mag black down the middle. Haven't had the pleasure of owning down riggers yet. Got a lot going out in fixing equipment and upgrading business gear Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Ill second black Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Bar slid in easy and all the way. I'm just going to take it to Barrett marina. They said they could look at it this week. Maybe one these years I'll get in the derby... Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Well... To my displeaser, my uncle come over... Tapped it on with a block wood... I know its not right but its on... Spine marks where on all sides. Linkage lined up... Changed the impeller last year... Had no problem... Don't get it... I think the front of the motor is a bit high... At this point.... Its on... Put the rest back together and give her a go... 6. Thanks Hank. Yes Les, I'd do a monster tree any day over smashing my knuckles lifting this heavy mother.... Got it aligned after I stuck mounting nuts and fiber in, or it looks like equal spine marks. Now I am having trouble getting the shift to stay in forward gear when sliding it on... The shift linkage keeps turning. I'm definitely selling this and getting a outboard... Got the motor to run good Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Looked this morning. Back is way to low. Probably because when I took it out the first time I got rushed and didn't see how they came out. Found a diagram. Going back over to use the lift to put them in order... Hopefully that is the issue Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. I have the tool. Borrowed it from a marina. I think the front is way to low. Ill take a pic in the morning. Maybe its not going in all the way but it looks and feels like it but no marks show. Slid it in the old coupler and got marks. Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Replaced flywheel, tried doing alignment,no marks. Put a different couple on... No marks... Tried to slide the out drive on... No go... What did I do wrong Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Steady bite Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Docks not in. Landed one cat early. 6 or 7 bluegill and a couple bullhead. Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Any chance anyone knows if the dock is in at the mudlocks lake side? TYIA Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Nope west side north end. Just about where the drop off is Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Couldn't get a good pic of the full size log out deeper chugging a long in the wind... There was a mile long debris field like this floating mat of junk shortly behind... Stay safe Big chunk of wood washed up between customers dock. Gives you an idea what's out there floating around Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Thanks Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. I'm not sure of the order... Got rushed replacing a flywheel and don't remember the order they came out. Large rub washer, spring washer, and a silver spacer. I have it... Spring washer, silver spacer, then rubber washer slides over the whole assembly. I can take a pic in the morning if needed. Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I'm not sure about 4 strokes. I imagine its possible Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. I bought stuff from Barrett. Think the name was actually called bilge cleaner. All you gotta do is pour some in the bottom, fill with enough water to slosh around some. Take her for a spin to shake it up in the bottom. Go home, empty in a bucket or drain. Stuff lifts the oil without any hand scrubbing, pressure washing(causes excessive moisture in the boat), or corrosion on the motor if I/o. Don't empty at the dock. Oil is still in the bilge water. 19. Bring lots extra plugs... Like Les said. They load up and foul out. I use to do it with a 60 HP merc. Learned the hard way to bring extra plugs one morning. You can also get two drift socks to slow you down at higher idles... But as Les said again... Save on gas, use the kicker. I'm considering putting a bigger kicker on mine so I can make it back in even if main motor overheats, points burn up, or whatever else stupid can happen on the water. Its no fun being towed in Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Another tool to add to the arsenal. Lesson learned! All the other connections were cleaned up. Just shows how important that ground is. Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Figured it out after trying to jump it without the truck. Bad ground... The bolt. The bolt that holds the starter mount up had just enough oil on it from wd 40 must of stopped connection... Sprayed it with crab cleaner. Cleaned the mount up. Jumped it with a screw driver. Worked. Used the key... Worked... Grr I hate mechanics LoL. Trouble shoot trouble shoot trouble shoot... 22. Yes starter works. Bench tested. Ones brand new, ones the original. Tried both. Cleaned and tightened connections. Hooked my truck to the starter. Used a screw drive to jump it... Sounded like it was going to try... Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Replaced. Flywheel because it rang like a bell and started once every 5 tries... Put all the wiring back to where it was... Starter engages but will not spin flywheel... Any ideas? Mecr 120 69. Flywheel is off a 74. Flywheel part #s were a match...any ideas? Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Took my uncles boat for a spin with a motor I sold him. Water was at the top of the dock. One more inch the dock will be under Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Watch out for debris. Streams are flowing hard. Sent from my VS425PP using Lake Ontario United mobile app
