  1. Rain tomorrow in the afternoon. Also they got a tournament going on. I might gas the boat up just to go down and see what gets caught. Gotta work in the morning.
  2. Morning was flat. Hit the water at 6:30. Headed south outta Sheldrake to see what the hype was all about. Tried a bunch different spoons, flat fish, and flies. All produced except the spoons. Went 3for 5 with one that gave a good fight but shook it free. Caught two Lakers and a salmon which was tiny. Trout weight in about 4 lbs. One larger is closer to 10. Will post pics soon. With the action like it was this morning, tomorrow should be a good day. Hit it early to miss all the crazy drivers. I'll leave it up to everyone to find the depths for tomorrow. To find the depths and rigs!
  3. True. He was catching fish and I wasn't... mainly cause he was right on my lines. Soon after I shook him... Blam. Fish. He was going faster then me, plus I run a bass boat trolling. I've had some people poke fun.... But there been a days when my boat is catching fish.... when I see other guys throwing their arms in the air. Last time this happened on Seneca I just did a big U-turn... right on top my shadows lures...Guess who started catching fish again... I could understand if it was a tournament.... but being annoying.... how is that going to help increase chance of catching more and bigger fish...

  5. That purple and white stinger been nailing them. Same with Sutton's. Seems the fish are down south. I got nothing off L.p. Saturday, Sunday west produced a Laker and nice bow. Seems the fish are in shallow till around 8:30. All fish I caught were in 50fow or between 35 and 40 feet. Had to deal with a stalker for a while. Shook him and found the fish.
  6. I think he was trying to catch what ever I spooked off to the sides. He was using planner board with mini disc diver. Two down riggers. He was catching fish that what got me mad and why I pulled my lines in. I was letting line out when I decided to stop it and pull the others. I didn't even put the clicker on. When I got to it there was 120 feet out from 60 something... when I felt the tugs off the Laker, I immediately put my lines back out. By then I was side by side with my shadow...dipsey depth works out to be 35 feet. Bow came on 40ft. Usually I just run them 40 down to 70. Beyond that I just let them out till something fires... Now I'll have to keep in mind trying shallower if they won't bite out deep. It was challenging working the inside, running into bottom, clearing mussels. But trying something new was rewarding. There wasn't a tournament today was there? Usually that's when I get someone shadowing me. Anyone know what will get further out to the sides, dipsey on 3 or planner board? If I do a planner board setup, what's the best way to get depth?
  7. Yeah, small Laker will do for the day, don't mind seeing a good one go back. Learned couple lessons today. Try all depths, shake your shadow, and keep switching it up till you get something to peel line. Purple and Sliver stinger took the Laker and a Sutton 22 took the bow. Hope the guy makes more. The 71s also been producing well.
  8. Start out Dean's Cove 6:30. Headed south on the west side. Started a dipsey spread. 40, 50, 60, 70. Shortly after showing getting my spread out a Blue and White Star craft starts following me pretty much on top my lures. After awhile of him following me I went in shallow, he followed, so I stopped a line short... 67 feet on setting 3... got all my lines in, down to the last.... Pole fires... rips some line. Small laker. Put the spread back out since I had slowed enough he had to go beside me.... Soon as I #0 dipsey hit 240 it started peeling line.. pulled a 100ft of line till it started slowing down. It was a big bow. Got right up to the boat. Reached down to grab the fish... gone... should used the net but I hate dealing with the mess... After that I found the fish in about 40 to 50 for another hour. Quit and went home. Someone said try shallow in an earlier report. So thanks to the Star Craft guy running my lines, I may have hit bottom a few times... But I got the big one on while they were watching... after that they left! Ha!
  9. Unexpected. But hey it's been while. Felt like a huge lazy Lakers with all the grass on the dipsey. Wind was picking up on the south side so I went around the point, ran into the ground. Had enough of the wind and waves at that point and headed home... No wind for days.... But because I decide to try Lodi.... there has to be a south wind. New phone sucks. Won't let me upload the picture of the perch.
  10. Found a school of perch out of Lodi. No trout. FF combo in UV blue. Perch is huge. Worst part is all 4 poles went at the same time... all perch. Kept the one that the air bladder blew out it's mouth. 100Fow 50 down on dipsey setting 3. Might try again tomorrow with live bait. Perch in that size is always good
  11. No luck so far. Still choppy. Lodi hasn't been nice to me this year
  12. Since it has been lack of wind for a week or so I was thinking about trying south of Lodi. Haven't seen many reports on Seneca. Is it worth trying the north end? Mike
  13. I remember when I was about 7or 8 and they were just beginning studies on them. I'm almost 30... wonder how the fishing would have been with out invasive species...
  14. Nice. I didn't catch anything over by LP last weekend. Maybe it was the weekend before. Picked one up out in front of Dean's cove. Maybe the west side is picking up or more out in the deeper water. Fish finder randomly started working after I caught the fish today. Need to move some wires around and check some connections. Looking forward to trying Seneca out this week with some planner boards and lead core and copper.
  15. Hit the water out of Sheldrake around 7:00. Plenty cloud cover, little bit of chop, and of course a fish finder that doesn't want to work at first. Adds to the excitement of getting set up. Headed south 350 fow running dipsy on braid 175 on 3 #1 with Jensen paddle with sliver purple stinger. Picked up nice LL and then minutes later 3 to 4 lbs Laker on Sd and Atomic fly. As I let him go, wham, there goes the stinger again. Fish peeled 100 ft of line and about 50 ft of backing before started to crank down... half way in... shook his head a Bunch... gone... after that no more strikes after 8:30. One good run by the plant. Packed it up and head in at 11. Rods where quite till then. Little to no fleas and weeds. Good day to have the rods in and cover some water Mike
  16. I thought there was a Blue Green Algea alert on Seneca but now I can't find it on my facebook. I did just Google and it was posted one day ago. My new phone sucks and article won't load. I might hit Seneca in the morning. Is it even worth trying out by High banks and stuff or just head to Sampson?
  17. Quite a few by me. Sned Acres off the top my head, Kendia campground my aunt owns over by Sampson. Deans cove isn't far away on Cayuga, Sampson launch is down the road. There is couple more over by me. I'll check what the camp ground by O'Malleys Cabin on the lake but I think they are mostly camper sites. I know Kendia will have open tent sites plus bait store on site. Just tell them Michael sent you from the tree service. Mike
  18. Sunday, out in front of the college.... they carpeted the bottom.. got one big one hooked up on a jig but got off near the surface. Put a solid 4 hours in on jigging a mile stretch of water...nadda. I read a bass article about tournament strategy of local pro. He said when bass carpet the and area.. just keep moving. Course these are trout but maybe the same rule could be put in theory? Next time I'm just going to give a few tries... then move to next arena a fish... check back later if there are condition changes... Lake looked very nice today just before the rain Mike
  19. Today was a great day to jig. Fish carpeted the bottom of the lake at 125 fow. Only got one on all day. It saw the boat and shook its head... gone. Couldn't get another bite after watching half mile of fish 3 feet off the bottom. I almost thought it was my fish finder... shut everything off and drifted for awhile... fish all over the bottom.
  20. Sounds like Seneca is doing better then Cayuga. Had one on jigs. Spit close to the surface. Rods didnt make a sound today.... Afternoon/evening producing fish?
  21. Been jigging since 8:40. Trolled from 6:30 til 8:40. Nadda not a strike even. Sutton and atomic fly letting me down today. So much for fish dinner
  22. Cayuga just not giving them up like last week... fish still in the same spot but nadda so far. Jigging or trolling.
  23. That stinks. Seneca still not giving up fish? Had some luck last Saturday by Glass Factory drop off. Didnt last long tho.
  24. Been launching from sheldrake but bunch of theives live down there and have been targeting my stuff so I can only launch there when I have an employee working. Wood lot is cleared up so havent been bring help out... looking for extra gas can so i can get further. I did well jigging two weekends ago, tried Seneca last week and caught a few in 20mins... after that tho they were dead... and the one I got to the boat felt like a dead stick... let him go. Rather eat healthy fighters... going to be fish fry Saturday depending on the rain we get in the next hour or so... Mike
