"I was referring more to j plugs & cut plugs". Well I am not! and not a troller to much either. I cast mainly for walleye and occasionally muskies and my FAVORITE is the old grandma lures, Bass assasines and any of the real storm lures from the original company ( wiggle warts, hot and tots in fish etc). Rapala ruined a good lure. Just my opinion. And I always dress my lures, piec es of night crawlers or slices of fish little pieces rubber baits and I use the attractant lures also.....jk

I would have had a bit of backing and very small guide items. Like bunched up weeds, slight, a piece of broken golden rod stuck in the ground. And one trap at the hole and a second where that little stone is, no looking again I would put the second one centered on the bottom edge of the photo with heavy pan tension on this one.....jk

Glad ti hear the fleshing is going better. On ones under 40 pounds you do not need a sharp knife until you get around the head mess. I think beaver looked to be mid 30 pounds a large. The belly skin can be pulled sideways off for several inches, then try to lift one side up and cut free the leather then lift the other sand cut free the leather pelt on that side. Loosen the legs, flip etc. Glad to hear you are trying, do not give up. You will like doing them after you get the hang of it and the buyers compliment you on your put up---then you have arrived!!!! congratulations......jk Oh wait till you get a super blanket-ha ha on you---nothing easy there
-
No they aren't. There are two easy ways to get the pelt off. #1 mid line cut from tail to jaw, wack off feet cut around the tail. Then take your hands and grab the skin in the middle of the belly on each side and pull HARD to each side. Loosen each leg and flop on the belly. One by one snap the pelt over each leg. Loosen around the tail. Now step on the tail(maybe both back feet) and pull hard the pelt off the back up to the neck area. Carefully skin out the head. The other way, that I have not done is to cut from the tail half way to the sternum bone. knife skin that out hang up by the tail(cut a notch to make sure the rope does not slip and pull/cut down. I have never done this. The first way is easy up to the XL 43 44 45 pounds. You should take some of that meat to eat, just the hams and back straps......jk

That is some good eating right there. Don't waste the meat. Trapping is constantly learning, and don't forget the more you trap one spot, they are learning you. Your beaver put up will speed up and the quality will improve too. Keep at it and do coon too they will help you learn. If you stop learning you loose in this game.....jk

What just happened? I posted that two or three days ago?? Whaler tie those deer down with and earth anchor or a dog anchor, even rebar stakes. Coyotes will drag them off to eat. No free lunches for them. That red is e of the nicest I have seen in a while, most all of mine(few) are straw back critters....jk

Have to correct my post of this morning "Those rumors that Hillary Clinton might run for mayor of New York City? Don’t believe it, one longtime Clinton confidante said Sunday -- 2016 was Clinton’s last campaign ever. “I don’t expect her to ever run for any elected office again,” Neera Tanden, the head of the think tank the Center for American Progress and a former top Clinton aide, told CNN’s “State of the Union.” Tanden was asked about the New York City mayor possibility after the New York Post editorial board ran a piece encouraging her to challenge incumbent Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio, who will be up for reelection this fall. “New York City needs Hillary Clinton to run for mayor,” the editorial board wrote." New York you lucked out.....jk
