I don't know that section as I might have said before. We have caught fish in 140 jigging by the way, South west of the bluffs a mile about. BUT seeing bait schools is a good sign for the future. The last two years we saw very few schools of bait. Some of what we did see we assume is those troutperch minnows, just near or right on the bottom and hazy maybe 5 to at the most 10 foot thick. I do not know that for a fact, just assume it. Until three years ago there was ACRES of alewives in the top 20 or 30 feet, looking down you would see the hundreds of little diamonds of reflected light flashing below you. Then the last two years nothing. But things are looking up. Keep us informed of you success and findings. Any thing you see will be a help to someone, that is why we are here. I will probably be there tomorrow(but I want to go to Cayuga-hint Mr Guff).....jk

Had computer problems for a while. So how far down that arm have you fished. Eggelston (sp?) point, first point above the old power plant is the futhurest up I have been. We do well there but only small fish up to 22 inches, really we have done very well there and hardly ever have any competition either.....jk

Papa that sounds very familiar. We used to go to Chibagamau twice a year. Our best set up was the trucks, 6 people and we had to have two four man cabins, just for all the gear. We had there electric heat and hot water, did not want to mess with wood stove etc. We stayed first at cabins right on route 167 Lac Dore, the to Vals(later to become JCbou). We did not fish the lakes we were on. We had a 16 foot car top the went backwards into the truck put in gear and a different lake every day. Wednesday was always exploring for a new lake day. My best day was 88 walleye and another day was 35 pike. Long time ago. 22 hours at first to get there, last time 15....jk

Mr Guff take me with you to Deans, I want to fishing for real fish (just joking) . We went to Keyuka, got the first fish in 35 feet of water, saw los of action on the TV(my word for the depth finder). There were over 5 boats out there all morning. Why? It certainly is not because of the size of the fish. Got a pickerel jigging in the deep water, crazy place

. Guff you beat us there, 3 years ago our highest number was 57 and some were real nice27-28 inchers. But our second highest number is 44. We never got a 30 incher there but we told a friend where to launch and were to go and gave him a lot of our tackle to use and he got one that was 32. The decline in the bait fish population seemed to occur at the time of the flood-coincidence? We fished the bluffs ice fishing many time in those two years, only once did we see someone else there. He was a local from Pen Yan town at the end of the east arm at the outlet. One heck of a good walk, used the same rig,-white tube and that is what we used last time up last week. I lost one on a paddle tail, but only one. Bullet bob those minnows are officially called troutperch. They must digest them fast because we don't see semidigested parts of them spit out near the boat like they did with alewives. The bait we saw the last time up I am sure was alewives according to the depthfinder and we use our depthfinder constantly, we fish when we see 3 fish or 2 fish and a school of bait. I call it the pig theory, you can't fatten a single pig. but if there is another one around they will fight each other for food even if they are not hungery. God post everyone. Hope to go up Monday somewhere Cayuga at Deans cove maybe.....jk

My buddy is not fond of bigger water. I have fished Seneca and Cayuga but not much with him in my boat. North end of Seneca do you mean Samson or the very end launch? Have done well Samson bu there often, usually on someone elses recommendation with specific locations. The south end has been good to us but have not been there this year. Deans cove on Cayuga has got many of our $7 launch fees.....jk

1 3/4 is not long for us, we used to go to Otisco every week we launched right next to the inn at the public launch. You are the boat we talked to, aren't you? I forget, but we did talk to someone on the water. For many years we have gone someplace in NY every week. Sometimes with a boat and with ice fishing gear too and several times we have had to go home due too much ice to boat and not enough to ice fish. Otisco is full hours from here. Made that trip a lot!!!!

Well heck we talked to you then! I do remember seeing a red lund, and we did talk to someone out there, I think it was the red lund boat. We were in the junkie old beat up Grumman with the 15hp Johnson(it's 50th aniversity of putting around the finger lakes). we have a friend with a big trolling boat but prefer to jig. For us the lake is 1 3/4 hours away. 5 hours is max, 4 is preferred, always stop on way home at one of the local resturants for our pick-me-up lunch......jk Ps E-mail me
