Leadcore with torpedo and/or snap weights
Fishmaster 196 replied to RWR1775's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Add the additional lead weight at the connection of the leadcore and your backer line so that you still have the benefit of the whipping action of the leadcore. If you add the weight at the leader end the additional weight will kill the action. You can get an additional 5ft per ounce of lead added to line at 2mph. -

Not sure what happened in your case but another member suggested to use 40lb big game for the diver to slide on due to fraying issues with smaller diameter lines. I have been using 40lb now for two uears and have not had any issues. I think you can find a kit that includes extra springs, beads and rubber tubing online somewhere. Yes, get one. Everything Beagler Described is correct. There are are hundreds if not thousands of smaller boats on erie and Ontario that use the bow mount for the purpose you describe. Make sure you get a shaft long enough for your boat. I need a 72" shaft on my starcraft, most can get away with the shorter 60" shaft. Sent from my LM-G820 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I have the same steering on my boat and that is the fill tube. I included a picture of mine with the cap removed. I think what you are describing is normal steering. It will be easy out of the water but is definitely heavier while under load and is normal due to the prop and water resistance. Sent from my LM-G820 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

If you snap the weight on your leader you will loose the whipping action of leadcore. It is best to snap it on the leadcore near the backing to leadcore connection. Sent from my LM-G820 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

One Color leadcore off boards
Fishmaster 196 replied to HoundsNTrout's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Yes, run the leadcore like you described. 1 color will sink to about 5 ft at 2mph, less if your going faster. Depth will also vary on what lure you are running at the end of your leader. Sent from my LM-G820 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
You are correct. I found a few of the 4oz weights at a local shop and then made a mold so I can make more whenever I buy new divers. I went to the trouble of doing that so I could get them to dive like my previous divers. If I didnt fish for walleye so much I would not have done so. The lite bite feature works great for eyes. The standard weight in the slide divers is around 3 oz. They sell an accessory weight kit that includes a 2oz and 4 oz weight set. When I swapped out the standard weight for the heavier 4 oz weight I was able to achieve 3:1 dive rate that compared to the walker deeper divers I have used in the past. The standard weight did not have the same dive rate and was less. Again, this is on my boat with both wire and braid divers confirmed with a TD. Your results may vary.
