  1. We found some nice sized fish this morning to the west between wilson and olcott. Anywhere between 250 and 310 was best for us. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Same here, 2.3 to 2.5 and both were firing the last couple days. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. That's awesome, I saw you guys at the cleaning station when we came in. It looked like you had a couple real nice ones. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Went 3 for 5 this morning. Ran west towards wilson, set up at around 830am just a little east of wilson in 250 ft. Got three hits right away and only landed one of them, about 17lbs. Broke one off on a minion rigged meat rig on a dipsey out 150ft. and lost another on a rigger 50 ft down. Moved out to 310 ft and caught two out there. One 21 lbs on a minion flo bot and uv SD on a dipsey 200 ft out and another, 17 lbs on a rigger set at 55. Rigger fish was a chrome and black SD and minion night fury fly. 5. That's what i figured but wasn't sure if that changed. I would gladly take you up on the offer on sunday if it was too windy for my boat but my wife wouldn't appreciate it if i left her behind i'm sure, she gets sea sick pretty easy. If i was to do that she would probably take my truck and boat for ride back home while i was out fishing. She has this habit of reminding me on occasion that she is part owner of my rig. All kidding aside, thanks for the offer.
  6. Is the wilson launch open? Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Thanks for the replies. If its rough out my plan is to run the shoreline to wilson and troll back with them and try to get a few hours fishing in. Will probably stay in shallower either way. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Sunday is not looking very good right now. The forecast has been pretty consistent the last few days with the winds picking up Saturday afternoon thru Monday. My wife and I are heading up Saturday morning thru Monday. I wish someone with experience up there with south or southwest 15 to 20 mph winds would give us an idea of what the lake might be like. I know that on Erie I would not be fishing in those winds. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. I also have a fish hawk and wasn't aware there was a difference. The day that i ran the meat at a slower speed i caught a few bigger fish on the meat rigs and flasher/fly rigs and only caught a couple of smaller 5 lb fish on the spoons i was running. Maybe i will try to speed up a little bit and or run smaller/lighter spoons in the spread the next time and see what happens. Thanks
  10. X2, this is the only thing that i have found that works. Walmart used to sell it in the camping section but longer do. I bought the aerosol cans off of Amazon.
  11. So seems like there is no issue with the spoons getting bit going that slow. Thanks for the reply. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. I just started running meat rigs and was advised to run the meat at around 1.9 to 2.2 mph on the probe and no faster. I'm sure people run meat along with spoons in the spread at the same time, so what speed do people run at if mixing both in the spread? I figure the spoons wont have much action going that slow. I usually run a 6 rod spread which includes 2 riggers, 2 wire dipseys and 2 lines off of boards and i like to mix it up.
  13. I have a lowrance elite 7 that is connected to the trolling motor on the bow. I also have 2 lowrance HDS units that are networked together, one is in the dash the other is near the back of the boat. The only time I really use the bow unit is when I'm jigging for perch or casting for bass which I dont do very often. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. I use the transducer built into my minnkota. I figured it was easier to use that one instead of having the other transducer hanging off the motor. Just make sure you buy the correct adapter to connect the two together. I have not noticed any interference although when I'm on the bow I'm not really using the other fish finder. 15. That is the jist of what maker of torpedo weighted steel claims. There is a long thread on here from over the winter where we discussed this exact topic. I have a couple of reels set up with 200ft of weighted steel backed by 19 strand. They work well. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Went 4 for 6. 180 to 210 was best. I was a little east of pier, from what I hear west was better. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. We went 4 for 6, biggest was 19# just east of port in 190 to 240 ft. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Vince, thanks for the response, I appreaciate it. Got a late start today, 3 for 4 so far. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. I'm heading up to olcott tomorrow morning with my wife and daughter. I have no idea where to begin trolling for the day, I havent been up there in over a month. If someone would give me a little guidance on where to start I would greatly appreciate it. Shallow or deep, east or west? Thanks
  20. I use tufline micro lead on convector 30d reels and can fit 300yds of 30 lb braid under 10 colors easily. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Are you using crop oil or another surfacant mixed with it? Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. I would suggest the itroll also. It is infinately adjustable unlike the others which allows you precisely dial in your speed if you want to. It is very well built and very easy to install. I heard the customer service is great if you ever need it. I have had mine for 4 years and have had zero issues and I use it a lot. In regards to the hunt mode, you get a free trail period with it when you buy the unit. I tried using it and it works well but you can not adjust it in the fly which I did not like so I did not purchase the feature at the end of the trial period. 23. Well that sucks. Do they ever close the Olcott launch? I plan on heading back up on saturday. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. The right side of the launch has been closed. The left side of the launch has been open, we used it this past weekend. Not sure if that changed after sunday. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Very happy with my american angler pro, have not tried the electric bubba blade. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
